^No, you didn't break the internet; the internet just wanted to keep that picture of Sexy Biotic Teacher in glasses Kaidan all to itself.

Just....gah, my feels! Gorgeous.

@laikabaws thanks so much for posting all that! Despite taking Kaidan everywhere (too!) I missed out on some of that. Liara banter-thief wut? Totally going to take him and James to the AA guns next time, I really want to see that Shep-is-disappoint face  haha!

Edit: ToP. Kaidan looks so hawt in glasses!

@tea_meister No problem, just wanna help fellow fans :D Missed a lot during my first playthrough too, but multiple Sheps solve everything (and all hold a torch for Kaidan one way or the other lol. I just can't romance anyone else. His puppy eyes does it for me. Will have to romance Garrus and actually going through it with a "cheating" Shep someday...hopefully).

And that Shep-disappoint face, very worth it :'D Looking at my screenshots, I also spy a Kaidan with a totally-judging-you-right-now and I-told-you-so face at Shep (makes it 100x funnier). It only happens in the first AA gun control, though. As for Liara, she's like this blackhole of banter priorities :( I rarely use her because of that (only willingly used her for those Tuchanka Platoon and Bomb missions for my soldier), although my vanguard grudgingly takes her along with Kaidan for biotic explosions galore~

@Graceyn Thanks for the compliment~ And I must say finally, I love your Shep/Kaidan story. Awesome character studies, not just for your Shep and Kaidan (but I love their characterizations the most), but for everyone (like Thane~). One of the fics I like that is so  thorough with all characters.  I keep a special tab open the entire time ever since (oh noes, my stalker tendencies are showing /scurries away). Keep up the good work and have my eternal gratitude for me generating so many Shenko feels from your fic :3

This means so much to me - thank you .  I love finding out about someone I never knew that has been reading all along!

I never imagined I would be diving so deep into the heads of all these characters; several of them I never really cared much for until I had to write about them (especially in the ME2 journals), but afterwards they each were close to my heart in their own way.

Of course, now that Kaidan is back on the Normandy, I'm having to be careful not to write everything about them (and then Shepard and Kaidan did this, and then Shepard and Kaidan said that...).  That would be fun, but the character arcs of everyone else are also important, and I really, really want to give them due.  So only every third sentence is allowed to begin "Shepard and Kaidan..." ^_^.

Another amazing drawing from NottheNoviceYouAreLookingFor:

Started another play through of ME3, dammit Kaidan. I blame him.

Been so busy, have had no time to do anything really. Start my new job monday, so nervous.

Has anybody here been affected the ff.net purge? I'm not sure whether just to move my fanfics to archiveofourown..

I haven't been affected by it.  There are so many tens of thousands of stories on ff.net (over 7K stories for Mass Effect alone), I have to think the odds of any one story being targetted is going to be quite low.

That being said, if you have an account on Archive of Our Own, it certainly can't hurt to post your work there too.  I wouldn't delete what's on ff.net, because as I said it's highly unlikely that you (or anyone in particular) will be hit, but a backup (and maybe new readers) is never a bad thing :).

As far as I know there hasn't been any official, widespread "purge" - just deletion of stories/accounts as they get "reported for violations" by Critics United and others.

Can't blame it for trying, I would too! Maybe Bioware will do us a DLC with our Sexy Biotic Teacher like this in front of  his class...oh the places my mind is going now. Is it hot in here...? *fans self*

@Kunari801 and @I LikeTo Doodle thank you for making up for my crappy internet skills and actually getting it onto the thread! <3

@Graceyn I've just discovered your fics from a link on here a few pages back, didn't leave your profile 'til I'd read them all! Absolutely lovely, everything is so well done and they're all so well characterised. You're right about the others having important story arcs, but can't say I'd moan if it was all Shepard and Kaidan this, Shepard and Kaidan that, ha! Looking forward to more.

I love the Garrus romance actually, he's such a sweetiepie. It was with a "cheating" Shep though so I felt so guilty when Kaidan gave me her that puppy look...don't think I can do it again. Have started a new Shenko run from ME1 just to make up for it!

"Blackhole of banter priorities" is spot on. I avoid her for that too, though I don't mind her as a character the blatant EAware favouritism does get a bit old. (Though it's okay for me to have total Kaidan favouritism, right? Hypocrisy sandwich, anyone?)

Well, look at who is the largest demographic for Mass Effect.  Males.  Specifically, young straight males.   Of course they aren't going to like Kaidan, he's a threat to their ego.   :police:
I agree Kaidan is by far my favorite LI too.  Unsated in ME1 do to game mechanics and agreed again, too rushed in ME3

That's a very good point. After you said that, I noticed that most of the human males in the game (besides male Shepard) always get low ratings along with Kaidan for worst character. Ex: James and Jacob. It all makes sense now. Anderson seems to be the only guy that most guys tend to be ok with only because he's a bit older and wiser. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Kinda makes me laugh now. ha.

I loved all of the one on one dialog Shepard got to have with Kaidan in the first Mass Effect. Too bad there wasn't more of that in ME3. I think that's one of the things I was looking forward to the most in ME3. Working things out with Kaidan and having our long conversations. Posted Image

I think it also bothered me a little that Kaidan was also a male romance option in 3. I mean don't get me wrong I'm not against those types of relationships, but the fact that Kaidan's character could just change that quickly from straight to gay kind of bothered me a bit.

I don't write FF but I did notice some stories missing from my favorites list. :crying:  What theyr'e doing at FF.net is such a shame.  All those stories and reviews just gone.

I agree, I wish they didn't do the --as someone else termed it-- Zaheed style ship conversions.   It felt more personal to have even the basic converstaions in the "conversation" mode.  Even if they didn't add more dialog using the converstion mode would have been a good thing though I'd love more conversation time with Kaidan.

As for your last paragrah, we're just not going to agree on that.  I'll just say that Kaidan (and Ash) were planed to be available for S/S relationships but it was dropped during production.   It woudln't be an easy thing to mod if it wasn't planned and partly completed.  The S/S cinematics wouldn't be on the ME1 disk if it wasn't planned at one time.

Edit: All this talk of FF.net got me to look again.  New short one I hadn't seen before, "I'll Meet You There..." jealous Shepard is funny Shepard.   Not how I see any of my Shepards but still a cute story.

I guess "bothered" isn't the right word. I'm not saying it was a horrible decision by any means. I'm just saying it took me by surprise. As long as Kaidan stays straight for my femshep I'm completely ok. ha.

I can't wait to see more of Kaidan in the Extended Cut DLC! They had Raphael Sbarge come in to do more voice acting for Kaidan! Maybe if Shepard lives, they'll be reunited. =)

Yes, I'm happy he'll be back in the EC but going off the intervew with Ash's VA it may not be too big a part.  :?

OK, before we get all doom-and-gloom.  One, she admits that they don't tell "the lowly actors" really anything.  Second, I doubt Ashley would have too big a part in the EC (sadly that means either will Kaidan)  Thus we can conclude she doesn't know too many details about the EC over what she was told and could deduce from her work.

Now, take what we've been told, and all the interviews, etc one can see that the EC isn't going to be a total rewrite.  Star-brat isn't going away, RBG isn't going away but (for me at least) that doesn't mean the EC can't improve on the ending.  It's not what I wanted but I'll give it a chance.

Let's see what she said: At least two four-hour sessions.  I have no idea how much usable recordings they average per-hour but let's say 15min worth of usable material per hour.  That's still 2-hours total of usable recording for the EC and how much of that usually translates into game I don't know.   But that seems plenty for a LI Reunion or a Shepard funeral scene.

Well, it's rather weak evidence, but yesterday Jennifer Hale tweeted "Such an NDA week! ;)"  Could be anything of course, but this morning Mark Meer replied to her tweet with a ";)"...which strongly implies she was talking Mass Effect.  A week (give or take) of recording?  Either they are past the EC recording stage and recording for other, pre-ending DLCs, or the EC will be more than we expect.

Link: twitter.com/Mark_Meer/status/212593580877938688

Sadly, probably pre-ending DLCs :/.  But we can live in hope...

I honestly still have faith in BioWare. With as big of a fan reaction as they've had to their endings, it's difficult to ignore. If they don't try they'll lose a lot of their fans. To me, that sounds like a lot of sessions for voice acting, but it depends on the structure that's there. Are they synching up to existing footage? Are they providing the lines and then animators work around those? Is it just narration and not matched to anything? It's kind of a case by case basis. It also doesn't depend on the actor, unless the actor has more pull than the director, but any good actor still follows the director's wishes, so, if it's a "first take is great... second for safety" director then it can be pretty quick... but if your director wants nuances with every line to get it precise to his vision... you may be booked for awhile. It's art, and sometimes the hard part is knowing when you're done making it... Acting is kinda my thing  so I know a decent amount about it. ha.

Plus the way Jennifer Hale's tweets, she's been hinting that maybe she's been doing a lot of voice acting for female Shepard. She doesn't say it specifically but she leaves hints. I just really hope Shepard and Kaidan get a reunion and if I can't have my happy ending then at least give them some closure.

Yeah I figured they wouldn't do a complete rewrite of the game. But I actually found a video talking about the indoctrination theory. And I know some are for it and others are against it. But it really goes into detail about the entire Mass Effect story and how the indoctrination theory makes sense. It even fills in the plotholes that the ME3 ending left us with. But it does so without changing the ending. Just adding to it. So i'm really hoping that's what they'll do. I've seen a ton of indoctrination theory vids but this one blew the others out of the water. It was amazing. The video just made sense.

Hoping for the chance of my Shepard and Kaidan to be together once again... Posted Image
