Yeah, I think if you talk to Liara first, she says something about Kaidan. I told Liara that Kaidan was special to me as well, and then avoided her for the rest of the game too. That manipulative trollop girl. You're not a terrible person. ![=]](https://lvlt.forum.bioware.com/public/style_emoticons/default/sideways.png)
For what it's worth, I don't hate any of the characters in the BioWare games. I love that they are all (mostly) different.

You don't have to avoid Liara, though. I just always tell her that I only want to be friends (I forget what the exact option is) and she is fine with it. I love that she is still so dedicated to Shep to want to hunt down her (sorry, my canon Shep is femShep) body and bring her back to life. It's been a while since I read the comic, so I can't remember if she's just trying to bring Shep back or if it is to keep Shep out of the hands of the Collectors. Anyway, Liara was just too naive to make me want to romance her, so my Sheps look on her like a little sister. I like that she grows up a little in ME2. It's like my kid sister just decided to grow a spine.
I even like Jacob for his bro status. Once I finally got over the "I'm more interested in just talking for a bit" insinuations. It took some time, but it's well worth it (to me) for the bro line post Loyalty mission. femShep, Garrus and Jacob. Bros for life.
Kaidan pretty much had me (all of my Sheps) from that first smirk. Oh man!

But my 1 maleShep romances Ashley, because I dig her complexity. He may or may not fall for Miranda though. I haven't decided yet. I would like to see Ashley and Miranda have it out in ME3. Because I like drama in my video games.

I also like to think that someone at BioWare has our favorite LI's interest at heart. Or they wouldn't have written him at all. Right?
