My femshep has been a total rene-beeyatch to almost everyone since I killed Kaidan, it's sort of my way to deal with losing him.  Plus now I regret killing him b/c the main reason I did it was so that I could romance Garrus but then found out later you can only start a Garrus romance in ME2. This character isn't an import so I was stuck with choosing Liara or Samantha Traynor and I'm not a big fan of either.
The lesson I learned here is never kill Kaidan, under any circumstance :(

I feel your pain

I didn't know how exactly to romance him at first, so I killed him twice, and it was devestating... also that scene of his death was poorly done with his dead body just lying there and the gang just went back to the elevator like nothing happened...I was like "f**k this s**t", but then I summoned my strength, redid many missions and got him back:)

I'm currently replaying ME2 as a renegade FemShep(first time), just to romance Garrus. I had to avoid ME1, or I would never be able to avoid Kaidan or kill him on Virmire. So now I don't know how I'll survive having a Shepard around Kaidan without romancing him...this is torture. I might have to kill him or send him to Hackett, so I can focus on Garrus...

edit: top....love this pic :)

I want Kaidan and Shepard have a big fight scene, not like that one on Horizon but a really physical one, and then they make up...

When Kaidan touches the small cut next to Shepard's eyebrow, Shepard whimpers

^ not the most original concept I admit

:crying: Everyone is killing Kaidan.  :crying:

Yeah, send him to Hackett, my current Shep is at just after the Coup and the decsion on who to romance in ME3:  Kaidan, Steve, Liara, Miranda

I've been stuck there for days, I've romanced Kaidan 3 times already and Steve once.  I want to try another but... those brown eyes, that smile...   Then I go talk to Steve and those deep Blue eyes washover me....  Ugh.

Honestly I forgot it was even possible to send him away to Hackett.  But he'd still be out there, somewhere in the galaxy (from a roleplaying point of view) and knowing that I don't think I could ever start a romance with another character lol

My Garrusmance never really got tough until I decided to go on Kaidan's date first and got the whole "I still love you, let's get back together" talk. You don't get this talk if you're locked into a romance already. God, when that happened, ME3 literally just took all my feels and obliterated them. Worth it though. The Garrus romance is just too adorable for words in ME3. You get the feeling that they really are best friends--something that you unfortunately don't get with Kaidan. Anyway, everyone should experience it once. And you don't have to kill Kaidan off to do it. Even if I know I'm going to "cheat" on Kaidan, I can't do it. His character is just too good, and worth having around even if he's only a friend.

I'm ok with tragic endings/short lived romance but I didn't feel that it was well handled, looking at some of the more famous ones, Romeo and Juliet die together while in Titanic Jack helps Rose find herself so she can finally live the life she wants.  For most of the Mass Effect romances Shep just dies (or almost dies) and our LI is stranded on a random planet smiling, showing no concern over Shepard's whereabouts/fate.  Not to mention the fact that they're on the Normandy implies that they fled the battlefield.  Nothing about that highlights the value of love for me.
Although the fact that Kaidan was the last thing Shepard thought of did mean a lot to me, it's just Alenko's behavior that doesn't make any sense.  I hope the whole Normandy sequence turns out to be a dream.

Yes. At least Shepard was thinking about Kaidan in his/her final moments...and not Liara. Because then the ending is just total mind ****.

Edit: Let's have some Kaidan flashback goodness, because boy did he look good.

Yeah he sure did look good but I'm choosing destroy when the Extended Cut comes out and when my Shepard finds Kaidan that  MIA pretty boy is gonna have a lot of explaining to do!  Maybe he just got scared of the loud reaper horns and fled haha.  Or just had a really bad biotic implant headache and passed out while running to the citadel beam, the hilarious possibilities are endless.

Star-crossed lovers? so hollywood

Bolded text absolutely agree, it is hard to tell Alenko's mood when he came out from the Normandy

I am glad he survived, but what about you? would you have preferred he died with you?

Yep,  I would have liked the two members you brought with you to have also made it up the beam with Shepard.  It would have made the whole Illusive Man exchange a lot more interesting, imagine him controlling Shepard and tries to make you shoot Kaidan/ other crew member instead of Anderson, granted I like Anderson but we have much more of an attachment to the crew members.  Then through certain renegade/paragon interrupts/dialogue options you'd have the opportunity to save your LI but not the other crew member (they'd ultimately fill Anderson's role in regards to his different death situations).
Finally you and your LI on the brink of death would face the catalyst together and ultimately fulfill the sacrifice hand in hand, making the whole thing a more personal experience to each player.
That'd be my ultimate tragic ending but being that it gives them the chance to die together it would also come off as a happy one since the game seems to heavily advocate the idea of an afterlife.

The horrible thing about the tragic ending is that the ME1 LIs (+ Garrus and Tali) already lost Shepard once. Kaidan pretty much said that once was almost too much to handle and he can't go through this again.

Cue the very same thing happening a few minutes later ... and Bioware glossing this over in favor of their stupid Garden Eden vision.

I'm ok with a tragic ending but ... not like this. If Kaidan has to go through this again ... at least let him see what Shepard died for. Being stranded on a random planet on the rear end of nowhere is certainly not what I'd want for him.

Are you appealing to the romantic in BW?;)

Bolded text, very majestic, I guess the best love stories are tragedies

I would still prefer having Kaidan survive though, if Shepard loved him unconditionally, he / she would convince him to leave the danger zone aka the Crucible, and THAT would be a final goodbye scene, it is a bit naive but I am hopeless...

Shepard says:"I love you, Kaidan" one final time...

Random question: this evil Shepard of mine plans to cheat on Kaidan with Garrus. I was wondering if ever I choose Kaidan in the end would he say anything Garrus-y after the date (like that "I can't believe your'e with Liara" thing pre-sexytimes)? And for Garrus fans, does Garrus say anything romance-specific during the Zaeed-like auto dialogues (like Kaidan's "next time wake me")? It's just funny that my 5 Sheps can't seem to resist Kaidan (one Shep was slated for Ashley, but I did Virmire all over again to save Kaidan after and I don't regret it after Ashley's character assassination in ME3). I guess I'll have to give Garrus a chance; he's also too lovable in a "bro" sort of way.

@Graceyn, I just started reading your fic today, and I have to say, I love the "voice" of your Shepard so far. Admittedly, I'm only a few chapters in, but I read all of the one-shots you did, just saving the Parallel Realities until I get that far into the story.

I haven't been on fanfiction.net in a looooong time, not since publishing a couple of my own things there years ago. I'll have to actually sign in so I can leave some reviews and look for other good ME stories now.

@Caeleinn, that's awesome to hear :).  Though I think Shepard's voice and personality was fully-formed from the beginning, story-wise I started off rather hesitantly - now  I kind of wish I could go back to the ME1 story and flesh it out a lot more.  So personally, I think it gets better the further you read.  There are certainly more words...

It's good to see this thread moving along a little faster again B).

I put up two screenshot manips of Kaidan on Deviant Art this morning, both from the Geth Server mission:

I like your possibility as well.  It gives them the opportunity to say goodbye for real, not just in a speculative way.  The main reason I either want them both to live or die is I just don't like the thought of Kaidan losing Shepard twice, it seems too cruel.  Though I view Kaidan as a strong, stable person and if he had to live without Shepard he could do it, he'd just need some serious healing time in the years following.

I don't think Garrus or Kaidan ever say anything about eachother in relation to Shepard.  Ever.

Edit: Your question made me think of this.

Do you mean like Zaeed style lines?  Or just in conversations?  Shep and Garrus have quite a few romance related conversations post date I think.  He doesn't really have any romantic Zaeed style lines though.

@txmn1016 yup was referring to Zaeed dialogue style~ Thank you for answering my romance related questions and helping me reach a decision. I guess that one Shep will get Garrus then despite still feeling guilty (Kaidan, you got 5 of my Sheps already, don't fret :'D ).
