Well, this is the Character and Romance Discussion forum, and those are definitely part of the story. And since spoilers are okay to be discussed here, I don't see why they'd restrict us.

I guess PM Chris Priestly for clarification? He's the person who makes the rules, so he'd be the ultimate go to person to make sure we're not breaking rules.

I'm gonna try to approach it with this mentality as well, the reason I was so devastated by the ending was that I had such huge expectations for it to be an epic moving finale so if I approach this expecting to be let down I'll hopefully find something to be happy about when I do play it.
But like I said earlier the one thing I am hoping for is an "I love you." If that's not in there I will be really bummed, unless they re-unite which would mean they'd end up saying it one day down the road.  I just wouldn't get to see it played out in game.

I was really hoping for a reunion, but I'm not going to hold my breath since as I listened to the podcast it seemed they were sticking to their guns about their vision of things.  But hopefully we all get the reunion we so much want..and admit it, most of us do want it!

Yeah it's just weird considering their vision has him/her living in one ending which seems to contradict their desire to kill off Shepard.  But Jessica Merizan did say on twitter it's possible to reunite (though she's not right 100% of the time).  At least we only have a few more days to wait and find out. 
Which I'm still in totally surprised over btw, I knew they were getting close to finishing based on Gambles tweets but Tuesday!!! Lol I was in shock.

A reunion would be perfect... or at least an "I love you" for Male Shepards, because we didn't get that line at all. :-/

I can't wait for Tuesday! I was in shock too, it's only a few days away now. I just recently finished my most recent ME3 playthrough again two days ago so the "original" endings are fresh in my mind. Can't wait to see how the EC compares. :]

Side note: I just finished watching the 5th episode of the 1st season of Once Upon a Time that featured Jiminy Cricket... I love Raphael Sbarge's character! And it didn't hurt that every time he spoke, I thought of Kaidan, haha. And the next episode's title after this is called "The Shepherd." lol I'm finding ME-related thing everywhere.

I tweeted this earlier:  I don't have much hope for a happy ending for my Shep in the @ME3 EC I'd like to say I love @GambleMike & @JessicaMerizan for talking to us

And Jessican replied:  @TLCece thank you I appreciate it. Happy ending I think depends on who your Shep is and what motivates them. I have hope though.

I really do like Mike Gamble and Jessican Merizan, they've had to deal with alot of flack and they have been troopers!

But I guess we'll see how the krogans who didn't come to Earth will fare on Tuchanka, and how the synthesized quarians and geth who stayed on Rannoch will get along. Happy ending?

Apparently they didn't touch the romance scenes before the attack at all, so if there is an "I love you", it will have to come in the epilogue sequences (Jessica's been saying that most of the new content starts around the final battle where you have to protect the missiles, so there may not be any changes to the farewell dialogues either).

I'm just not sure how realistic our hopes are at this point.

I have to agree with you, i interpreted it that way as well...synthesis or control getting the "happy" ending. 

As you can see from my signature though, I am a destroy gal as that is what kind of Shep I have...the destruction of the reapers will be her happy ending and no reunion is possible.

 I understand why some people might choose other endings, but I'm a destroy person too. I think my Shepard deserves to live, so if there is a chance that she will be reunited with the crew (and Kaidan), I will take it. The reapers are destroyed and Shepard has a chance to see Kaidan again.
I can't listen to Kaidan's goodbye and pick any ending that she will die....

It will be interesting, though. It will make destroy the worst option, won't it?

You could potentially live, sure, but you'll never see anybody you care about ever again. And you still kill EDI and the geth, for no reason. You destroy the Reapers, but the Catalyst is not lying, so you haven't really solved anything. You live alone, to the end of your days, and 100,000 years later, a machine is created that wipes out all life in the galaxy. Victory and hope!

At that point, you may as well choose control. You can't live, and you similarly don't solve anything, but at least you don't needlessly kill EDI and the geth. Or more likely you can pick synthesis. You also can't live, but this time you do something that does something that maybe solves something, and you get to have the epilogue treat you like you made the right choice.

I get rejecting control and synthesis, but I think the game really wants to make those appealing choices (definitely synthesis). So do you just pick what you think is right, even though there's really no payoff, or do you just forget about it and believe what the game wants you to? All you have to do is put aside your own beliefs, and you get to save EDI and the geth. Everybody is still stranded, and it's not like you'd ever see them again anyway, so why not? You're not going to get any worse an ending than anyone else, so why not?

I don't know. I just don't have any optimism left. We're never going to see our friends or Kaidan again, and they're never going to come home where they belong.

I'm just going to remain optimistic about the extended cut.

And really, really hope that Shep and Kaidan get reunited in the end. I'm pretty sure if they add that part in, like an LI reunion, I will jump for joy. I think that's the only thing I want from the game at this point.

Just a question from a fanfiction point of view. I'm writing a fiction with two Shepards running in tandem called 'Duet Effect'. A M!Shepley F!Shenko fiction, and I'm just curious for future reference. What if, anything would cause Kaidan (ME2-ME3 time period) to snap and lash out at a person/enemy?

I've yet to really see Kaidan truely flip out, but I'd think threatening or insulting his crew/family/people he cares for would do the trick, but a bit gradually.

I was really tempted to go for Kaidan on my main Bro!Shep. Infact, I actually have a save stashed away about an hour before I caught the lunch date. Partially because the Miranda Romance really gets snubbed in the base game...

To me there's only one ending that makes sense which is to destroy the Reapers, which has always been Shepard's plan. So I'm hoping that there is an element of star kid lying because if shep lives then he must be lying - she has synthetic pieces, and it's hard to believe she could survive without all of that having been resurrected from mostly dead. No way would my sheps force synthesis on the whole galaxy - genetically altering all life? that's worse than the genophage in my mind. And control? No, that's just what they're expecting us to do.

I miss the characters already and I'm looking forward to seeing them again, but if they leave Kaidan stranded on some random planet for no good reason then I will be grumpy. He had an important job to do back on Earth, so Hackett must have a good reason for stopping him and Garrus from following Shep into the beam.

My thoughts exactly, theres no way i'm forcing Synthesis on a entire galaxy, and control? my personal beliefs is that it'll spare this cycle for around 5000 years.

and yes, Star-brat is lying because some people have had EDI come out of the normandy in the destroy ending and shepard is part synthetic and can live...

so yes he is a massive liar and should continuelessly be shot for 12 hours

because shepards gun has unlimited ammo

It's hard to be optimistic again. I was one of the people who spoiled the crap out of myself when the game was released.  So I knew all about the endings.  But I just couldn't believe it.  I went through the whole game being optimistic.  Really thinking that BW would never pull that kind of stunt.  And, well, you know how that turned out.  I don't know if I can afford to be optimistic again, only to be wildly disapointed.
