Seeya.
EDIT: That was fast--husband talked me down from the ledge with the judicious application of a Super-Margarita and a "You know you don't want to abandon your friends like that--give it a few days to calm down, and you may feel differently about it all."
So I went and played the goodbye scene between Maddy and Kaidan again, and am now engaging in gross sobbing because of reasons.

I've only done the Destroy ending so far. But now I'm hopeful that I'll have a reason to finish my other playthroughs and see the other endings. It's not exactly what I wanted, but I've also wanted a pony since my 6th birthday and I haven't gotten that yet either.
Edit: ToP
I reject BioWare's reality and substitute my own:

It's been real, it's been fun, but I am officially done with Bioware now. If they're going to give the fans the middle finger like that, then clearly those NTACs don't need my money anymore.

Currently waiting on my download of the extended cut dlc. It's at 26% now. I keep staring at the bar trying to use my magic powers to make it go faster. It doesn't seem to be working though.
Lady Winde. <3 Always nice to see you and your lovely art!
I'm honestly fine with the EC (will always pick Destroy though!). A few of the "WTF"s I had were addressed, I should be able to see the breathe scene, yadda yadda. Sure I didn't see Kaidan and Shepard's reunion, but I'd rather headcanon it anyway. (Starchild can still go off into a black hole and die though.)

...your right!! seriouly, I think the 4th ending is Bioware way to give the fans the middle finger and telling us that they controling the game!

On the other hand, these endings don't make me as depressed as the previous version of them did, and I was glad to see that the crew doesn't have to stoop to inbreeding.
I picked destroy and watched the other endings on youtube. I still feel like destroy is the best ending. Synthesis still feels wrong, I don't see any reason at all to pick control, and I'm just going to pretend like the don't-choose ending wasn't even there. It felt like a slap in the face.
So yeah...Right now I'm not even sure what I feel about this whole thing. Not nerd raging. Probably somewhere in between "slightly disappointed" and "Meh, I don't really care."
Like devSin said, I have a hard time seeing myself buying any DLCs unless they're all-Kaidan-romance-banter.

Agreed. I always pick destroy, so I was quite hopeful for a reunion, but at least I can still write fan fic and make a head canon. I was sad because of the lack of closure for Shepard in destroy, but the fact that Kaidan doesn't puts the name plate on the wall made things a *little bit better.Annaka wrote...
I don't know...The game is better with the EC, but I still feel like there are a lot of problems, and some things seemed like a too easy fix. There are still problems with plot logic. There's no reunion, and still no more about Sheps future than the breath scene, which is pretty disappointing.

The only reason why the breath scene comes after is to make it more cliffhanger-ish, leaving room for the ambiguity they are so fond of. I don't think there's more to it than that.

I think it's obvious the images and clips aren't in order, they just put them together to make everthing as a whole have more impact (like when in the slides that show the damaged citadel and then the rebuilt one...etc).devSin wrote...
Then why is Anderson's name already up on the wall?
If the squad heard that Anderson is dead, does that mean that nobody found Shepard? You're still bleeding out, wherever you are?
IMO, the memorial takes place a couple of days after the crash, the comunications are restored in a few hours or a day (everything can be easily rebuilt) so they find out Anderson's dead but they're still looking for Shepard (or maybe they found him/her but s/he's in a very critical condition), thus Kaidan doesn't let go of Shepard and smiles like thinking, you'll make it (because he's sure of it).
(Now headcannon) And when they leave jurassic park to go back to Earth, Shepards already recovering at the hospital, eating solid food and making trouble for the nurses 'till kaidan gets back with a bottle of whiskey
Plus, they wouldn't put so many clues and keep the breath scene if s/he wasn't meant to be found, that would be just a stupid waste of resources. It could have been a clearer scene like watching him/her walk, yes, but I can live with what we have, since the only thing missing for me, is the final reunion kiss which isn't necessary to know they get to reunite for sure. (Unless Headcannon-Shepard changes his/her mind and doesn't want to be with Kaidan anymore, though that's not gonna happen)

No, I don't think they will either. Any DLCs will probably be action-oriented, which is not what I want from the game when there are still problems story-wise. Which is why I don't really think I'll be buying any DLCs at all for ME3.

...and therein lies the problem. If Shepard's post-Reaper story is indeed done as BioWare says it is, then END IT! Let it be up to the player to decide if Shepard lives or dies, and/or reunites with his/her LI or not and give the player cutscenes to that effect. But honestly - finishing a franchise with unanswered questions is just so...so...tacky.

But it would have required unique cutscenes (since he can't be taking the nameplate up to the wall, and there's probably not going to be a bunch of people standing around watching him), and it wouldn't have been fair to the ME2 romances (what do they even get?), so instead we get this rubbish.
I want more Kaidan. I guess that's the one thing the ending can't kill, even if it makes me not want any more Mass Effect or stupid Shepard. :-)
Luckily David knows how bittersweet is supposed to be done (he knows how to do pretty much everything), so I know DA will never fail me. Casey and Mac can shop their art to somebody else, because I ain't buyin' no more!

Emphasis mine. I agree with this. We all knew this was the end of Shepard's story. And there are already 3 options that end it with her certain death. But Detroy let's her, with the right EMS, have hope for the future. Which, essentially is what the core sentiment throughout the game was. Hope.
I'd rather they DID leave it at the Normandy taking flight without her name up, and the sight of that breath...than have them put something more solid in place. Because I WANT to use my imagination at that point. That one scene allows us to take flights of fancy about her reunion with Kaidan, their future, let the fan fics flow rather than be stifled by a solid wall of Canon.

It was screaming out at me as I saw the scene unfold. As soon as I saw that it wasn't Shepard standing at the memorial wall, I knew exactly what they were going to do, that they were going to just lob the breath scene at you again right before the credits. It was like a siren in my head—JUST SWITCH THE SCENES AROUND SO I KNOW KAIDAN IS COMING FOR ME!

My god this is brilliant. Someone needs to record an ending where Kaidan puts Shepard's name on the wall, then reverse the frames so it looks like he's pulling it off, show his smirk, and then insert the breath scene right before that.devSin wrote...

It's kind of confusing whether Shepard is on the Citadel in space or on earth, because in the destroy ending they show a slide of the citadel sitting on the ground in London and then the very next slide is the citadel still in orbit over Earth ...
Really? I never caught that one, I was in a bit of a daze lol. So... if it fell to Earth then Shepard could still be in the Citadel?

They still could have showed Kaidan walking to the wall from offscreen, taking Shepard's name off the wall with a shot of him gently holding it, cutting to a shot of his face as he's looking down at it, and then the subtle smile. Then cut to the exterior shot of the Normandy taking off from the jungle planet.
The player is left wondering "So Shepard didn't die?" And then you do the breath scene.
BAM! SHEPARD LIVES AND KAIDAN KNOWS IT! I WON THE GAME! TORE IT UP!
But no. We're left empty. Disjointed images and disconnected themes.
TOP: I guess we still just have head-canon Kaidan coming to the rescue, with visual assistance from Andrew, since apparently nobody else is going to bother to do it.
