Yeah, I have to admit that I laughed at them retconning the whole relays getting utterly destroyed thing. I'm happy about it because headcannoning is now a lot easier, but I also found it amusing. If there was any kind of confession in there that they ****ed up (aside from the little message at the end) it was that.

Well, I've got all my eggs placed in Dragon Age 3's basket now. Let's hope they don't try any funny business and kill off our Warden or any of the past companions.

Not just the relays, but the Normandy.

At least in the good destroy ending, they totally retconned her getting damaged while trying to outrun the blast (which still makes no sense, of course).

It was the first time I looked and thought that maybe the ending wasn't going to suck. "I see what you did there! Don't deny it!"

I don't think they would dare.  I'm still hoping for a Nathaniel romance myself.  Boy is BW good at getting me to love pixelated men.

Actually, now that I think about it, they don't even need to reverse the sequence.

They still could have showed Kaidan walking to the wall from offscreen, taking Shepard's name off the wall with a shot of him gently holding it, cutting to a shot of his face as he's looking down at it, and then the subtle smile. Then cut to the exterior shot of the Normandy taking off from the jungle planet.

The player is left wondering "So Shepard didn't die?" And then you do the breath scene.

BAM! SHEPARD LIVES AND KAIDAN KNOWS IT! I WON THE GAME! TORE IT UP!

But no. We're left empty. Disjointed images and disconnected themes.

TOP: I guess we still just have head-canon Kaidan coming to the rescue, with visual assistance from Andrew, since apparently nobody else is going to bother to do it.

I'm definitely painting a happy reunion or Kaidan/Shepard future piece now.  Although I would have preferred to see them reunite in game I guess Bioware wants us to imagine our own futures for our characters and now that they've given us the possibility of a reunion it'll make painting that more enjoyable since it'll feel more valid.  Painting those images before felt more like a way to cope with depression heh.

Honestly, my first reaction was rage.  I was sure that they had retconned the breathing scene when I saw him (Garrus the first time) fondling that name plate and I was furious.  Then came the next scene and I breathed a sigh of relief.

I have very mixed feelings about the EC. I feel sort of manipulated. The ending is still a plothole-ridden mess, but these sneaky bastards are using my feelings for a freaking pixelated character against me.

I think scenes with Kaidan were the dealbreaker for me with the EC and probably would not have been worth it otherwise.

I was having a hard time whether or not to pick the destroy or synthesis as my canon ending because I really didn't want to kill off EDI and the Geth, but when he said that, and his little face as Shepard told the Normandy to go I was like "****! Bioware, don't do this to me!" Hell, I couldn't bring myself to make Shepard leave Kaidan on his own again, not after dying once already in ME2 which clearly messed him up... so I'm running with destroy as my canon ending and just hoping that they do indeed reunite and that maybe we can rebuild EDI and the Geth again.

Wait. So Kaidan says "again" if you romance him in ME1? I saw a video of saying "don't leave me behind" only...

Another reason not to pick synthesis is that EDI mentions something about them maybe reaching immortality (I think she did anyway) and Kaidan shouldn't be alone for all eternity, how dreadful.

Yeah, you know, the only thing that I remember irking me in the EC was that I felt like they were pushing Synthesis on me.  Like, hey it's the perfect solution so pick this one! Makes me wonder what they'll do if they choose to make future ME games.

I think any ending other than destroy is just heart breaking with Kaidan. How can we leave him? I cried with synthesis ending after doing Destroy first. (EDI voice over is my favourite though) Control is worse I think, it would be torture for 'godshep' to look over Kaidan.
I think I'll use synthesis for my Liara romance. She's the only romance that I would consider that with, with the whole lifespan issue, better for her to lose Shepard now rather than later down the road and she'd have to live like 800 years without him.
