You know, I actually achieved catharsis with the EC - I was extremely happy with it, especially Destroy. I understand being disappointed at not seeing what happens after Shepard breathes - but consider this: You know how Kaidan (and all your squaddies) survived the beam run. You know why the Normandy left. You even got to see Joker get pissy about it before reluctantly complying with the retreat. You know /where/ they ended up (Sur'kesh). You got to see the Normandy head back home. You know Kaidan knows that you're alive somewhere. From all of that, it's very easy to extrapolate their reunion. Would it have been nice to see it? Sure. But at least now you don't have to guess how it all happened, and you know, for a fact, that it /will/. (Unless you're sadistic and head-cannon that as Shepard's last breath :P) Heck - on top of all of that, you can even reliably head-cannon in that EDI and the Geth didn't really die, just that their platforms did, but the programs survive and can be revived.

I feel the same way. I was so happy with these endings. It actually fit perfectly with what I had going in my head.
All in all it was pretty much all I wanted.

So from that possible dlc thread, I found this
<data>That's what love does. Turns a guy like me into a nervous wreck with something to lose and the aim to make sure he doesn't. Nobody better hurt you, is all I'm saying.</data>
Could this be...Kaidan? Or Garrus? It is definitely a guy, so it can only be the two of them. It sounds like Garrus...hmm...so many potentials. I like these lines.
And I have a feeling we will be going underwater! :o

Question. "Kaidan knows Shep is alive" only plays if you also have "Shep in rubble" scene right? If you don't have high EMS and don't get "Shep in rubble" scene, Kaidan will hand the memorial badge on the wall like in Synthesis and Destory right?

Also, I assume FemShep also gets the same "I'll always love you/I love you too" in the run to the Conduit scene right?

Yeah, we get that scene too. And you only get the Kaidan knows if your EMS is over 3100, which isn't that bad. You can get that if you scan all planets/do all sidequests. They fixed it for the EC.

I'm disappointed they didn't add war assets cutscenes to London mission, but as for the last 20 minutes of the game (from Harby-onwards), EC makes it so so SO much better than the original ending. Loved expanded Catalyst conversation. My favorite part is actually in Refusal ending, where his true voice is revealed. Loved it, it makes that child voice acting sting so much less!

Actually, I only had 3800 EMS, with 50% readiness and I got both "Kaidan knows Shep is alive" and "Shep in rubble". He didn't put the plaque on the wall in mine.

And yes, FenShep/Kaidan say the same "I love you's"

That's waht I was asking. I thought it was the case, just wanted to be sure. So reunion confirmed canon.

BTW, does the Normandy still leaves the Eden planet it was damaged (instead of just barely scratched)?

@Isaac
I was talking about this thread (there is a link to the file on it):

And yes, Normandy leaves, implying they will go after Shepard.

Hm. I'm thinking that a big thank you to Raphael Sbarge is in order. I might have to consider actually getting a twitter account. The horror.

It helps immensely - this way you know right away of any upcoming appearances he'll be making.

That being said, I thought I'd share with my fellow Kaidanites. In April I wrote to Jacqui Day of Fangeek.com and asked if she could recommend the best address to send a thank-you card and a CD (My all-time-favorite album: "Dive" by Sarah Brightman)  to Raphael. Inside the card I wrote:

"For giving Kaidan Alenko his voice...
For teaching us that healing the planet is the right thing to do and not the 'in' thing to do...
And for doing your part in showing a cynical world that it's all right to believe in fairy tales again...
Thank you."

In May I received a reply from Jacqui, who in turn forwarded me a reply from Raphael. I've edited it for clarity and length:

Dear Roland,

Thank you so much for your kind words and for your very kind donation to Green Wish.

It is very kind of you to offer me this CD. I am familiar with Sarah Brightman, but do not remember hearing Dive. I look forward to it, based on your recommendation.

Perhaps you can send it along to FanGeek.

This is where I am currently getting the majority of my mail.

With my sincere thanks, and warmest regards,
Raphael

Did I do a happy dance? Ohhh, yeah! Posted Image

Jacqui informed me that she will be meeting with Raphael around this time of month and will get the card & CD to him. To show my appreciation I sent Jacqui a Barnes & Noble gift card - any bets it will be used for the first season of "Once Upon A Time" when it becomes available on DVD?  Posted Image

Naturally if I get any follow-up news I'll definitely post it here.

*sigh* I'm such a doofus when it comes to anything Kaidan/Raphael Sbarge - related . It's a relief to finally admit it. Posted Image

the reapers finally figured out how to love!!

Ahem.
That was lmao to the 10th degree for me. Synthesis sounds amazing in theory to me, but in reality, I feel like I'd of been committing an atrocity if I did it.

Hey all^_^, I'm gonna talk about what I think about the EC DLC.

So I finished the EC dlc a few hours ago.I pretty much sobbed the whole way through:crying:.The goodbyes before the beam just about flat out killed me.Bioware really knows to how to tug at my heart in their games.

I loved the DLC but I really wish there was a reunion for shep and Kaidan but at least it's implied.

Kaidan's face in the goodbye scene .... just....gah!:crying: you can really feel how much he loves shepard.

So all in all,I love the DLC dispite no reunion scene, now excuse me while I go sob some more.

A girl can dream, right??

It sounds a lot like Garrus.

I've been sitting here staring at my screen because I don't want to go through the Kai Leng fight again (took me like 30 goes last time lol darn Cronos base, oh how I hate you - and yeah I never did finish my insanity run. Probably the only one left that can't do it lol... anyway back to what I was thinking lol).....

Think they have left any way of doing more ME universe games after the different ways you can end it? I thought they said they hadnt finished with Mass Effect just Sheps story so Im wracking my brain for how it could work. They could of course tag in a Shep / LI *coughkaidancough* moment like they did with the old group in DA2.

I also wondered... what do you think happened to all the reapers that stayed in dark space. I don't know if I believe they ALL came to the galaxy to wage war.. so does that mean there are some still out there heh.

Yup... too much thinking way too little eagerness to face kaileng again...

Ashley/Kaiden as the principal character - since Ashley/Kaidan just got Spectre status,  and Vega got into the N7 program..those developments look like groundwork for another story to me.

A game centered on Ashley after ME3 events would be awkward.

She's dead in (most) my games.

EDIT

Oh I see the edit now. :o
That would be a lot of recording work for two very distinctive characters for one game without meshing them together like they did in ME2, unfortunately:?

It isn't impossible - they did exactly the same thing with male/female Shepard - they both have different Dialogue depending on gender.

personally I think that is the simplest way to move forwards for Mass Effect IV, much simpler than introducing a brand new unknown character and getting the current fanbase to accept him/her.

I know, they could have saved themselves a great deal of trouble and clarified the endings in the initial release...so then they can spend more energy on other projects.... like a romance DLC

Not related to the EC, but just realized how much more beat up Kaidan looks in the hospital compared to Ash
Both look pretty nasty, but he has more bruising... and a nose and mouth that is still bleeding. I guess the doctors missed that? o.o'

I have a feeling that this was the initial plan for the Ending and what we originally got was a not-very-well-thought-out ending because they were behind on deadlines.

I say this because a lot of what was added, like the Failed-Evacuation Scene (You get this if you had a very low EMS. Its heatbreaking) had a very similar looking scene deleted from the game with your squaddies simply being hit by Harbinger's Beam and then cut away.

The mess of the ending is probably because it was implemented before it really went through a conceptual phase, which is where these kinks are fixed. They can't change the endings because then its DLC (That will eventually be Paid DLC) that gives you completely different endings. Not exactly a great idea.

Better idea? Put the EC on all future copies of the game or something.

I think the doctors were a bit more concerned with his brain swelling from the concussion. Those minor injuries the body can heal reasonably quickly - but anything that damages the brain or has the potential to, is a priority.

They did a similar thing to me when I had a nearly fatal motorcycle accident several years ago, they leave the little injuries to heal by themselves and focus on the life threatening ones.

+1 that is exactly the impression I got from my first playthrough. There were so many questions unanswered I would have been astonished if they playtesters had been 100% happy with how the game originally ended.

Don't forget the play testers are usually there for glitchs and also are appointed for various reasons, but not nessicarily because they've played all the games and know the plot by heart.

yeah there is that as well, but I remember the days when the playtesters actually DID know the plot off by heart. Games that were made that way were saved from the mass defect that occurred with the original endings. But due to financial downturns it doesn't look good on a companies end of year reports having hired over 50 people to playtest their games 24/7.Sure back in the older days with games there were some pretty atrocious bugs(Daggerfall springs to mind) but at least the stories the games adhered to made sense and had minimal plot holes - if any.

I avoided taking Kaidan on that last mission since I didn't want him to die. Regretting it terribly now. :( Wish they had a save right before the run...Youtube vid?
