Oh, I didn't have that, but I did have the "bishounen" phase, and the "every guy I like ends up being 27" phase, and the "10 years older than me" phase.

Good thing I never dated in high school.

I think I'm rather young gamer (20 counts as "young" when it's about audience of game rated "Mature", right?), and while my eternal sexiest person of series is - obviously - Kaidan, nb.2 is... Zaeed.

Oh, and that lights - or not so lights - on CE picture...

Did I just say that out loud? :o
I quite fancy being dragged off by Kaidan, FWIW btw ;)

Shepard: Okay Kaidan, I'll come back with you willingl... wait. What are you gonna do if I don't?!
Kaidan: Don't test me Shepard, I'll do what I have to!
Shepard: Are you going to use cuffs and chains? Because that would be an extreme turn on bad, very bad. Please do don't use them!

Bwhahaha.

And I also love Atton way more than Carth, no need to be ashamed.
I wish I could like Disciple more (since his VA is Greg Ellis) but he's so... flat. He seems more like an infodump guy. (Probably because he was added in at the last minute *I think*)

I'm not ashamed, lol........ I just don't want people chasing me from BSN with torches and pitchforks ;)
I don't mind Disciple, I find him easy enough to get along with, but I know what you mean :P

I'll take that Kaidan scenario though, one to go, thank you :D

Ugh.  Don't get me started on Disciple.  Not even Greg Ellis could save that limp dishrag of a character for me.

And uh... hey, look!  A Kaidan hug!

If Greg Ellis coudn't save it, it must have been bad. My teen sons are still trying to talk me into playing KOTOR 1 & 2, but I haven't found the time yet. I know I need to though, if just for the voice actors.

That Kaidan hug is a thing of beauty. I wish BioWare would add an option to randomly hug your LI. A kiss with Alistair is nice and all, but sometimes you just want a mad-desperate squeeze.

Edited to add:

Zaeed = pure love. I adore that crotchety old bastard. <3 I dunno about 20 being young for a gamer, really. My 10 and 11 year old kids play Halo, which is also M-rated, although a much kinder/gentler M in my opinion. My little people aren't allowed to touch any "sexy" games. It makes me wonder what the average age actually IS for a BioWare gamer. Anyone know?

Fortunately, you won't recognize Cullen/DAA Anders in Disciple.  The character has no sense of humor at all.  You will, however, adore Carth and Atton.

I firmly support LI hugs in ME3.

@basbaker -- I'd love an older, mature Kaidan! I was pleased to see he was in his 30s in ME1 so he wasn't some newbie that was wet behind the ears. (Even more pleased to see that Shepard was that old, too. No precocious rookie there either!) I found TIM to be attractive and if Anderson was a LI, I'd have gone for him, too. Not that I'd petition for it or anything, but definitely would have given it a whirl if available. In DAO, I thought Alistair was charming and I didn't get the vibe that my character was mothering him (a common complaint from those that didn't care for his romance), but I definitely felt a disconnect because the protagonist and Alistiar were both so young and to a certain extent, malleable. Shepard and Kaidan are older and more self-assured characters, which I love.

I don't think there's an "Understatement" meme that could possibly express how right you guys are. It's just so... egh. I booted up KOTOR2 after a few months of not playing (so I could play ME1&2, DAO, and DA2) and was like, "Gee his voice sounds familiar." Looked it up on imdb and cried.

I think Bioware is underestimating the power of hugs. Hugs are wonderful things. I love hugs. Hugging your LI is much sweeter than trying to ram your tongue down their throat. ;) In fact, the hug you get from LI Kaidan on Horizon is the only thing I liked about Horizon.

Why have I never noticed Greg Ellis voices the Disciple? D'oh! I was always too kind to be mean to Mical and I never could resist jealous Atton. I thought Mical was cute, but just as a friend. I always wondered what he'd be like as the Exile's padawan.

D'aawh, Kaidan hug! I love that Kaidan looks older in ME3, it really show how much he's gone through. I also may have a thing for a bit of grey on a man, haha.

Like you, I was so happy when he said, "I'm 32, Shepard."  And really it wasn't a surprise given his looks, voice, and the interactions with him up to that point.  But still I was like YES, I'm not cradle robbing.  Not that it stopped me with Alistair in DAO, but I prefer older.  So figure Kaidan is 34-35 now, and I'm pretty sure he will have only improved with age.

I found Zaeed physically attractive (those arms and that build, hello?), and Thane, who comes across as mature and pretty centered is appealing, too.  I guess I never seriously thought about TIM.  He's the ENEMY!  But yeah, definitely an appeal there if I could get past those trippy eyes.  Love Martin Sheen's work though.  He made TIM alive for me, and the character gets some sexy points for that.

But of course, Kaidan wins hands-down in a sexy-off.  A little older, a little more hard-bitten, a little stronger?  Pure win.

In "The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod", you will get a LOT more jealous Atton if Disciple's influence with the Exile is higher than Atton's is. In vanilla you got one scene, in TSLRCM you get like 5 or 6.  Ugh, I wish Obsidian had done proper romances for KOTOR2, if Atton were being jealous, my Exile would be like "Well then kiss me you fool!"

That being said, that should totally be a reunion option for Shepard and Kaidan.

I love the restored content but I can't take the whole death scene I posted yesterday. It breaks my heart, haha. I always played my Exile rather shy, scared of going below her usual light side actions (although she did anything for the mission, even if it meant dressing up in that particular outfit and dancing for a Hutt) even though I always played her like she had a thing for Atton.

On the subject of Kaidan being older, I always wondered if Cerebus had rebuilt Shepard at 29 or at 31. I suppose it doesn't make a whole lot of difference except the age difference between Kaidan and Shep.

I had Atton lose the fight vs. Sion on purpose just to see that scene, and I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat for the rest of the day. God I'm such a sap.

It's only a couple years, not like 20 or 30, so I doubt it affected Shepard's "physical age" too much. I think it would affect her mentally though, because basically she lost two years of her life and everyone around her kept moving ahead while she stood still. :( So I still think of her and Kaidan being 3 years apart.

Just my opinion though, to each his own.

Regarding T.I.M., I noticed two different voice actors listed for the role on IMDB. Anyone know who's really voicing that character?

And because I love this gorgeous and serious Kaidan from earlier in the thread:

Yeah, I can see Zaeed's physical charms. (Personality needs work. =p) Thane's maturity lent a lot to his older and wiser appeal. Loved that he already had a fully grown son. His choosing to be with Shepard lent to the sense that he's seen plenty of people and been through hard situations and Shepard ranked pretty high in his book. Not merely someone across a crowded room, y'know?

I guess I never seriously thought about TIM.  He's the ENEMY!  But yeah, definitely an appeal there if I could get past those trippy eyes.  Love Martin Sheen's work though.  He made TIM alive for me, and the character gets some sexy points for that.

To be fair, before ME2 was released, we had all these yummy promos of TIM. I was SO SURE he was modeled after Faceman (Dirk Benedict) from the A-Team. (Here's a link to compare their pictures!) Since I was a fan of the original show, TIM's appeal went up. Of course, I later learned he was voiced by Martin Sheen and more likely modeled after him instead and as I got to interact with his character, I didn't think about his sex appeal as much. Still cute though!

My favorite animation was him turning around to the colonist and saying, "Yeah, OK." Awesome use of confident body language there.

@Gilsa

Wow, would have preferred the Dirk Benedict-ish one! Loved him as Starbuck in the original BSG (I had a ridiculous crush on him in fact), loved him as Face-man. Those pics, especially the middle compared to the right, look pretty similar.

I love everything about Kaidan on Horizon when the invasion begins. He's authoritative, decisive, confident - is it getting warm in here? It's only when he and my Shepard actually talk that things go south. But I understand BioWare's motives, and knowing she'll have a chance to get him back in ME3 takes some of the sting out of it.

Hah, see, Horizon actually made me like Kaidan even more. When it was announced he'd be a mere cameo in ME2, but "oh look, more love interests in the meantime, guys," I wasn't sure if I wanted to wait yet another two years for the romance to continue. Ilos could have been an one-night stand for all I knew. When Horizon rolled around, I was floored at how he stuck to his convictions (even though he didn't have the whole story) and how intense he got. He was yelling with his heart on his sleeve, the first to say I loved you, and didn't drop everything to follow her like a puppy. I respected that very much and generally felt that he yelled because he cared (even non-romanced). And then the follow-up email sealed the deal. I knew right then for my canon, there was nobody for her, but Kaidan. Shocked and enormously pleased that they had the picture frame moment to keep him important to the character.

(I do get why others had the opposite reaction and dumped him. Different strokes. No sweat.)

Are you me????????? :o *checks self*
No....... phew......... was a bit worried there for a minute, thought one of my *other personalities* had set up a BSN account ;)

I agree totally, I loved him more and thought he was so strong to walk away because he knew he was right... about Cerberus and just everything....... I certainly would have more respect for that man IRL.. The kind who stands by their principles even if it means heartache, the kind of man who makes you want to do the right thing, iyswim?

I've played through ME1 and ME2 five times each. Dumped Kaidan once in all of those and regretted it. He's my canon and even my non-canons (except for one naughty Shepard). I guess it sounds like I didn't care for the Horizon scene, but that wasn't because of Kaidan's character. On the one hand I can admire how he doesn't just come running when Shep crooks her little finger, and on the other I'm irritated that so little could actually be said between the two of them. Not Kaidan's fault though. The sting wasn't from him so much as from how the entire scene was written. That's where BioWare's motives come in, wanting to make sure that the VS makes it alive to ME3. It was just very abrupt. The e-mail afterward is a nice touch, though.

His way of speaking on Horizon, first to Lilith and then to Shepard, is one of the things that makes me eager to see what happens in ME3. I hope he's more like the Horizon Kaidan (as far as his manner goes - not walking away from her again!) in his interactions with Shepard.

I gto bored at work again. So I doodled this comic. And now it seems relevant.

I hate how in ME2 when you're just chosing the paragon choices your Femshep will flirt with Jacob. I wasn't trying to flirt with him, I was just being nice. I imagine if Kaidan knew about this, he would not be happy. IT WAS THE DIALOGUE CHOICES BABY! It wasn't me!

That's why I loved Carth so much, and also why I still prefer him over Atton... I love Atton! But he's got that Han Solo vibe to him, which is sooooo sexy, so sure I'll take him for fun but he's not my long-term type. The hilarious comment Atton makes in the beginning of KotOR2 makes me want to slap him.  The sexual tension in KotOR2 is great, but I also wish they would have done the romances better. All you get Kreia saying cryptic things.

I still haven't played KOTOR and I have no idea what kind of game it is. Is it action-y like Mass Effect? Or does is it like another Bioware game, say DA or Jade Empire (the only other ones I've played)? I'd really like to befriend Carth.

On another note, I really wish there was another opportunity in ME2 to talk to Kaidan, maybe reply to that e-mail, for two reasons. One, the dialog choices you have are woefully inadequate to expressing how my Shep feels about Kaidan at that moment. And two, I find that the lack of interaction with him doesn't allow me to establish what the first meeting will be like in ME3. I don't like to think that I am going to have to start from zero, so to speak, when Shep meets him again.

KOTOR's gameplay is most similar to Dragon Age Origins, but the combat isn't as slow as DAO's is. I highly recommend both if you're an RPG/Bioware/Star Wars fans. (although with KOTOR2 I'd suggest you download the restored content mod, since the end was rushed and is a pretty big letdown without it).

Ugh, the interaction with Kaidan is so bad in ME2. And it's not even Kaidan, it's that all the response options for Shepard suck. I know they can't make every single response imaginable for every situation, but it went:

I'm working with Cerberus!
I'm working with Cerberus!
I'm working with Cerberus!

Great, thanks a lot Bioware. <_<

It reminded me of a Star Wars version of Dragon Age: Origins, in terms of the gameplay.  It isn't exact.  KOTOR feels a bit more turnbase-y, but it really is a lot of fun.  Plus it's very cheap on Steam.

Also, for a TOP, I was thinking earlier today about how much my Paragon FemShep feels like a guardian.  She's pretty much exactly like Aveline in Dragon Age 2, which led me to thinking... Kaidan is a lot like Donnic, too.  They're both the mature, dutiful type who put their responsibility and the welfare of others first.
