Edit: i remember seeing a thread where somebody said that Kaidan has more lines than Ashley...

As far as I know, there is no dialog bugs related to Ashley. Ashley just doesn't have much dialog on the Normandy. Each squad mate had a line count budget. Though Ashley has the same budget as Kaidan, the writer for Ashley decided to use the budget more on the Citadel than the Normandy, so she doesn't have as much to say between missions, but she has more to say during her Citadel moments.

You have the cerberus scene right after the Jacob mission and then he'll also talk about his parents as well at some point.

On my original playthrough I was so pissed at EDI I was certain that we'd help Kaidan find his squad or at lest get a 'loyality mission', then he just randomly says EDI found them  Also I got like 8 different Sheps and all saved Kaidan, I just could never let him to die. And I don't mind Ashley. I think I did once, but regretted it straight away and reloaded the save.

I could never kill Kaidan on Vermire either... I had intended too more than once just so I'd have a Sheaprd with Ashley as the survivor but then the decision comes and I couldn't do it.

Hello all. I just finished up my 2nd ME3 playthrough in readiness for the EC, and I got a lot of advice from people in this thread about how to get Kaidan back a bit earlier and take him on the bomb/platoon missions after the coup. I did that, got the right running order and nothing locked out or expired, hooray.

But, I did experience some problems with his dialogues ... I never got the scene in the observation deck where he talks about his parents, and when I clicked on him *before* we went to the Citadel for the date I got his 'I can't stop grinning' line. (I reloaded and went to the Citadel first, came back and got it again.) I also got his flirting convo after the Cerberus scientists mission, where he says we should go to the Citadel to get steak (this was *after* the Citadel date).

Has anyone else who left the bomb/platoon missions until after the coup had this, or did I do something weird? As I mentioned, no main or side quests locked out, and I clicked on Kaidan *every* single time I went back to the ship after a mission. Is the only way to get the scene about his parents to do the bomb/platoon missions before the coup?

It's not the end of the world, and I saw it in my last playthrough, but of course I want as much Kaidan as possible.

I'm doing a Garrusmance playthrough, and I did the Coup without starting the Turian platoon mission yet, and even though I talked to Kaidan about his parents while he was hospitalized, he didn't say anything about them once he got back on the ship. Then he also had the, "I can't stop grinning" autodialogue going on even though we never went on the date yet (and even though I'm romancing Garrus).

@I LikeTo Doodle and @chibievil: You caught me, Kaidan is real. I was just saying he wasn't just so I could hog him all to myself.

There's some bugs that can keep the conversation about Kaidan's parents from ever firing. If you do too much on the crew deck before talking to Kaidan, when you click on him to start the conversation, nothing happens (the dialogue doesn't run). If this happens, that dialogue will never fire again (so you'll never get it).

You have to speak to him the first thing after coming down to the crew deck (if it's right after the coup, you should be able to talk to Garrus first, but other stuff, like talking to Chakwas, will break Kaidan's conversation).

The steak line is just part of the conversation. I'm not sure if it was something they had intended to only fire before the date or not, but it will always be there.

I'm not sure when the "I can't stop grinning." line is supposed to fire. My last game, he wouldn't stop saying it after Eden Prime, so I have no idea what's going on with it.

Strange. I talked to him right after that mission and said that we needed to have dinner on the Citadel, even thought it already happened, but it was a regular "Interact" talk rather that Dialogue Wheel style.

I had those exactly same problems in my manshep kaidan romance playthrough.  Sucks.    Not sure what went wrong.

Either that or it involes bone manipulation with the save editor. I can't find any combination that would produce a facial pattern that looks anything like that shepard.

That happened to me too.  Something about "getting a snack"...and then he mentioned steak. <_<  Not the kind of snack I had in mind but what whatev.  I then went through another few hours of the game thinking that I'd get another date out of him, but nope!
