Since we started talking about the possible name's for a married Shepard and Kaidan, what would the names of their kids be? Would they have Alenko as a middle name with Shepard as a last name?

First one depends. But I doubt it'll be about Ashley. That's not something you forget, but that's absolutely not something you want to be reminded each and every moment of your life..And as for surname - my femShep thinks that if it comes to kids - she'll take Alenko for herself, as there should be one solid family. Not Alenko dad, Alenko son and mom Shep.

If it's possible at all. You know, there is only first generation of human biotics, very little statistics (some of which could be lost in war) and no one actually knows how it works with kids. Can he have kids? Will they have a chance to inherit biotics? Not to mention that Shepard will perform the first known case of posthumous pregnancy...

Most common names on tumblr are pretty much Ashley and David. (I don't think Ashley would necessarily be a problem more than 5 years after her death, but YMMV.)

Last name Alenko ... you really don't want your kids to be too obviously connected to the legendary Commander Shepard. Since Shepard serves as Shepard's nickname/first name anyway it makes sense to me.

I'm not sure about the possibility of having kids. I despise the stupid death above Alchera and the completely pointless resurrection. I basically headcanon around this, telling myself that things went down differently and Shepard was just gravely injured and in a coma.

However, I'm not sure they would want kids. They've seen so much death and destruction. That's gonna leave marks.

According to the lore it should be impossible to inherit biotics. What could be inherited is the disposition of developing biotic powers instead of brain cancer (or nothing) after exposure to eezo.

You know, in the game they seemed to be making it clear that you were completely dead and brought back.  In the comics though it seemed much more up in the air.  The only time Shepard appears in the comics is in some kind of stasis pod so there's a chance that you didn't actually kick the bucket I guess.  Then in ME3 I think they say something like Shep was clinically brain dead.

I think that's part of the problem for me. Everyone does. Ha, well that and I was bullied by a guy named Ashley as a kid. 

But you're definitley right, YMMV. Just not something I would do.

I know what the game says. I don't care much for Shepard, Space Jesus. For me it's just too much.

I can't suspend my disbelief and swallow how she died: asphyxiation, atmospheric re-entry, smashing on a frozen planet at terminal velocity, exposure to vaccum and sub-zero temperatures, severe cellular breakdown, weeks or months in this ... state.

It's a case of horrible writing in my book. All of this for nothing. Coma after crashing on Alchera in a damaged escape pod works fine without hurting my brain.

I really don't mean to offend anyone. I just ... it's a pet peeve. I hate this plot twist and chose to ignore what Bioware wanted to happen and replaced it with something I can accept.

Like I keep saying - they can put glitter, spangles and sequins on the Control and Synthesis choices but Destroy is the only option that allows a reunion (such as it is). First EC playthrough I didn't even hesitate hanging a right at the intersection - hell, if I could have made a hand signal I would have! 

amen. Can't do it. not even for curiosity's sake. It's phyiscally impossible for me. Might as well be asking me to cut body parts off.

Heh - just for grins I started geting back into Star Trek Online since I have a lifetime membership. I named my first ship the USS Elysium and will be using Mass Effect location and character names as I get promoted in rank. I think I'll name my next ship the USS Eden Prime.

Chose destroy first then watched my bro choose synth and control. I will never choose either with my Shepard. This is more for my benefit than Kaidan's though. I refuse to watch my Shep disintegrate. REFUSE I tell you.
