Speaking of polls, Kaidan's lack of performance in the big romance petition thread (specifically Poll #3) is making me disappointed. If you haven't already, please vote.

Bumping this for the night crew because the polls apparently close tomorrow. Kaidan is pretty much in last place for all the primary romance characters (currently, only Jack gets less love than Kaidan).

I don't typically read fan-fiction (I really try not to). I did see that it had Kaidan tears, and so I had to weigh wanting to read it with wanting to not be sad. Turns out I don't want to be sad. :-)

Maybe when he finishes I'll give it a read. Or maybe I'll do it on holiday tomorrow, now that you're all going on about it. My curiosity just might be piqued.

My head canon says that Kaidan hesitated at the memorial wall because some random crew member suddenly yelled out "Wait! Incoming message from Hackett, Major!"...and that was why he smiled.  So, he's now sitting at her bedside, waiting for her to wake up and telling her all about how he's going to take leave when she wakes up and they will go to his parent's orchard so she can recover and he'll be there to take care of her, no matter what.

I cried during the beam run, and was yelling at Kaidan on my T.V. to not put the plaque up. Got the half-smile and I was so excited.

Hm...Shep is in it though...

I think I would have totally given up on ME after the whole endings debaucle without fanfiction.  I'm not good at coming up with my own headcannon so...I rely on the amazingly talented people here on the BSN.   Also kinkmeme.  Who can honestly live without it?

When the beam run cutscene started up, I thought Kaidan was going to die. As soon as the cutscene fired and it cut to Kaidan and Garrus and the vehicle goes flying up in the air, I was like, "Oh, this is going to be the bullcrap, I just know it".

But then it turned out to not be so bad. :-)

I did get really annoyed when the memorial scene started and you can finally make out that it's not Shepard standing at the wall. That instant, I knew they were going to tack the breath scene on the end right before the credits again, that they hadn't done anything with it. That still is the bullcrap. "The extended cut should make this clear" my ass.

I didn't really feel I was interested in them at first either. Then I read a few really good ones, I've been gushing ever since a 6500 character comment supports this..

I'm slowly learning that my predeterminations based on mass-media are totally inaccurate for this style of writing, so I'm willing to read just about anything at this point, because there's horrificly sad, and then there's the kind of sad that's just sad enough to feel good. It's intoxicating
There's just so much of it too.. the 4yrl8r meme for example--- probably more akin to the smut for the sake of smut fics, but there's hundreds of pages of fan-fics in that single social group on LJ..and then there are dozens of fics/comics/art pieces from authors of those fics which aern't posted in that group!

I don't even know where to start. LJ, tumbler, fanfic.com? searching for the good stuff is in itself a task it seems..

I knew about the deleted scene from the original endings where your two squadmembers were supposed to get killed by Harbingers laser, and when I saw the Mako I thought they were going to get crushed - incredibly glad they didn't. Minus the TIM dialogue I enoyed shooting starbrat in the face and finding out there's a refusal ending, and I felt the same about the whole breath scene.

I don't read much fan-fic because of how pervy they can be, but if it's done right than it's pretty good. Even better if it isn't overly sexualized. Give some romance tho, always nice to see a little love and nuture.

Smut for the sake of smut is pretty damn boring if you ask me.  I like smut + plot.  I some how got into a story over on kink meme featuring Kaiding and (m)Shepard + babies that is freaking amazing, although the prompt very nearly put me off (it's kinkmeme after all).  Don't ask me how my depraved mind found my way to it because I honestly couldn't tell you after following this story for months.  Anyway, my point is, kinkmeme actually has some of the best stories IMO but they can be hard to find in the midst of all the unabashed smut.  Eventually they usually get posted on some other site (like Four Years Later) but a lot of the good ones start there because of the interesting prompts that people suggest. 

Edit:  Also fanfiction.net is a good place to go, although it is painfully lacking in John/Kaidan fics if that's what you're looking for.  

Ugh, double edit:  If you're looking for good stories check the kink meme archive where you can put in specific characters and themes.  A good way to go about it is to check out stories that have a good number of saves.  That usually indicates a good quality fic (though not guaranteed ).

Here it is.  You have been warned.  Weird prompt is totally weird and little off putting (at least it was to me) at first.  The author actually does a good job of making it believable though.  Also Shep hooks up with people other than Kaidan (before getting with him) because of the prompt so if that's not your bag then avoid the crap out of it.

see... and I just started browsing that group because it's where the first good one I saw was on.. I have no idea what all these abbreviations or 'names' really stand for. Obviously it didn't take me long to figure out what kinkmeme was.. but it's still kind of exciting to just step into a whole new dimension of something I suppose.

And the sad thing is.. you say its great, but there's 10 groups of 30+ Pages on that kinkmeme group on LJ.. unless you link me that particular fill I'll never find it, that's kind of depressing so far. I feel like there are probably some truely great gems out there that will simply stay hidden forever burried deep in some forum 50 pages inside a 400 page thread or something.


So anyway.. mind sharing? Thanks for the advice about fan fic.. I suppose I'll troll the meme some more for the good ones.

Also, again, a good way to wade through the ****e is to look for stories that have a decent amount of saves.  Albeit, you could miss some real gems this way--but you'll find some great stuff too.

Lol, now you understand why I said it was totally off putting.  But Kaidan/John fluff never goes amiss with me so I ended up loving it.

How could I not miss anyone who doesn't judge me for my Kaidan related perviness?

Finished playing the EC...and I am happy...it asked most of my burning questions. I have to say that I still get teared up with Kaidan's good-bye scene and with the added scene getting him to leave on the Normandy...I mean I teared up a lot with this game, and I'm not a crier. The three major instances were tears rolled down my face.

1) Kaidan's freakin good-bye...the voice acting for both femShep and Kaidan are amazing. The catch in before their voices...and the kiss.

2) Anderson's line..."You did good, kid." Gets me every time. It just feels like a load has been lifted off Shepard's shoulders.

3) This scene I added after playing the EC..."No matter what happens, I will always love you." The shared pained looks that Kaidan and femShep exchange. She knows and so does he...and there's nothing he can do to stop her. Gahh! I just lose it. Once again I chalk it up to the voice actors.

I must say that all three games made for one hell of a ride.
