By all accounts, they really tried to drive a wedge between the families and the kids. It was "voluntary" in that your "child might start lashing out and killing people if you don't send him with us" type voluntary.

Allegedly, Kaidan was also picked up late, which is why he has an L2 implant rather than an L1.

So, a bit of a DA2 Anders parallel there. That stands to reason since Biotics are the mage equivalent in the ME 'verse, although considerably less oppressed.

EDIT: Huh. Those scars actually enhance his appearance. Krogan women aren't the only ones attracted to scars. (Speaking of Krogan women, the one I watched a vid of on youtube reminds me of Sarebaas from DA2, and you can't tell a dang thang from the mask over her head. Now I'm curious to see a female Turian... without a mask preferably.)

Does anyone know how long they used L1, L2, and L3 implants? I kow Kaidan has an L2 model, but if Shepard's a biotic she has an L3.

Off the top of my head: the L3s are younger than 25 (except Shepard, who was implanted late).  Kaidan was allegedly implanted late with the brand new L2s at ... 14?  I want to say... So I guess the L1s would have gone out of fashion shortly before that.

From what I've seen posted since I've been here, it's been about 50/50 for both FemShep/Kaidan and MaleShep/Kaidan here. Not sure about the ME2 thread.

more like majority of kaidan for s/s romance hang out in this thread, in general.  it does occasionaly seem like m/m is prefered here though.

It's really obvious at this point BW treats Liara as the 'canon' LI. LOTSB and Genesis comic both have these not-so-subtle "Pssst! Pick Liara! She's the perfect girlfriend for you!" hints lol

The fact that in my casual following of this thread --I don't lurk, but I check in-- that about nine of every ten pieces of artwork I have seen features a male Shepard with Kaidan, with the opposite being the case in the ME2 thread.

Well, the S/S LIs have been given the short end of the stick in ME, so maybe people are getting more passionate in order to support the cause and convince ME3 developers to give us the option. Therefore, more Kaidan art produced is S/S and we share it with each other.
Or maybe gender doesn't matter and we post whatever kind of Kaidan love we find and like. <3

I suspect it's just a matter of those that stay in the ME2 Kaidan thread do so because they don't want to be spoiled on anything about ME3. And ME3 is where the possibility is raised that Kaidan might be available for s/s so the current enthusiasm is funneled here. The only thread I check in the ME2 forum is the FemShep thread since it's unable to migrate over here.

I know a lot of them from the ME2 thread and that is mostly it, plus that thread has been running a long time and lot of people have got to know each other quite well and we talk in other places (Facebook, etc.)
