What was said by Hepler doesn't bother me in the least. He said "could" and I honestly think he was just "joking" in his own way. In my games it is "Shepard_lives" ending. And I didn't pick destroy because Shepard lives, that is just icing on the cake, I picked it because that had been her goal for 3 games and "dead reapers is how we win this." And quite honestly, the other two options imo are non-choices. period. Would I have liked to have seen a slide with Shepard in the hospital with Kaidan/Garrus at her side, yes. Am I going to be mad because I didn't get it? Nope.

It's a testimate to bioware's writing staff who write these LI's. It's easy to forget, but there are only a few game developers that touch on this subject and there's absolutely no one that does it as good as bioware does. So yes, when they say we have to say goodbye, it hurts, that's why people react in this way. Why we have 2200 page threads on these characters. We are on a very small level in love with them. I can completly believe the people that write that they were in tears on the floor after this game. Mostly because I was partially there myself. So what might seem like some nerd rage is deep down very flattering that these people are so defensive about what is said about these characters.
I can honestly say that I've never seen any forum about any RPG debate a topic (or topics) involving these characters so passitionally or seen people divided so significantly as these games have been, and honestly? There's good reason for that.

With that said, ME3 remains my favorite of the series, in spite of the ending.
Regarding any future SP DLC, I'm not sure if I'd be interested if it takes place mid-game.

I'm actually working on a fanfic that focuses on the fact that I believe Kaidan and Shepard will have some issues coping with their relationship in a non-wartime setting. For three years their relationship has been based on the belief that 'this could be the last time I see you', so what happens to them when they no longer have to worry about that?

That sounds aaawwweeessooooomme. I've always kind of wondered that myself. I kind of picture Shepard having some extreme PTSD issues after the Catalyst and the war and basically not knowing how to function now that he/she doesn't have a mission anymore.

Is there anything new about such BW statements? You don't remember how they treated Citadel population (which is around 14mln)?No, you need to headcannon
No we ment that shepard lives, see the file names? The LI hestitating to put your name on the wall?
No It was meant to mean anything
No shepard acutally dies.
Tweet 1 - ah yeah, all dead
Tweet two - uhm, you know, important characters survived...which? Well..important
Con video - Ah! Citadel! They all alive, you know, they have space magic and kinetic barriers to keep air....
They, probably, thought it was witty and funny joke. I don't care for their cons (anymore). Especially for those, where speak those, who does not know a thing.
I belong to that part of players, which does need to get Kaidan hugs just to make sure that both survived. i knew that back in spring, when I finished first run. And also - "breath" scene IS an "open" ending. classical one. They could suppose that after titles started alien came and ate Shepard. You know what happened, and you are free to imagine things in either way. Helper's headcanon involves painful suffocation to death? That's Helper's personal problem, not mine (or yours).
My answer is: sit back, relax and enjoy. 8PFor three years their relationship has been based on the belief that 'this could be the last time I see you', so what happens to them when they no longer have to worry about that?
And there are still hell lot of things to be done and problems to solve, in case someone gets boring.
You know, from my experience thought about peaceful home life killing relations is not really true. Love may become less bursting and vivid, and some probably would call that "routine romance".
I mean "having quick drink" before vital battle seems much more emotional and exiting than, let's say, walk in a park - I don't think that such "routine romance" is essentially bad. But it all depends on two given characters, of course, and many other aspects of their relations.

I don't disagree with you - but I believe there are some rocks in their way before they settle down into a comfortable existance without the constant threat of death and disaster hanging over their heads. I don't feel that a peaceful home life kills relationships - but when your entire relationship is built on battle reflexes, war, and that urgency that comes with the knowledge that each minute may be your last, I imagine it's quite a shift to realize that you're more likely to wake up tomorrow together than not.
But then, that's for my Shepard, and my various fanfics have already shown how neurotic she is about her relationship to Kaidan to begin with.

My goodness, that's absolutely horrible, i think it actually burnt my retinas somewhow
You guys have been discussing too much, it's 11PM here, i've got to wake up early tomorrow.
BUT, I can see BW has got some good supporters here, and i'm happy for them.
While this is really sliding off topic, i'll just add my (quick-because-i-need-to-go-to-bed-early) two cents:
> I'm absolutely convinced that what's been very precisely lacking in the whole project, from ME1 ending onwards is a "vision". They didn't know how to end this. Hell, they didn't even know what to make of Shepard at the beginning of ME2! So no, this was not intended. This was improvising. And badly so.
> I totally expected canon from BW. Canon is what I paid for. I'm totally not paying to use my own imagination, thank you.
> this is a video game, not an Arthur Conan Doyle novel. It's a fictional character alright, but this is an interactive game, players have distinct expectations than readers or movie aficionados. Also, this a trilogy. Trilogies imply expectations and demand consistency. This was supposed to be RPG. This is Space Opera. Game genres, sci-fi genres have tacit rules. I was expecting to be highly entertained, no to be lamely metaphysically challenged.
> i never expected weddings or babies. I am good with Shepard dying if it makes sense. EC made a horrible ending into an average mediocre one. The StarBrat doesn't make sense, try as you might.
> i would like people to stop complaining about people complaining, because i'm pretty sure the EC would never have happened without them. As long as people will keep on saying ME is the greatest series of all times, I will keep on criticizing, as constructively as possible. I can't believe anybody would genuinely say that, but then, I was born in the 70s. When I'm fed up, I'll probably move on to some Irrational Games release, because I value game creators who stand for what they created.
> i make a point to not let BW or any video game creator ever think that what's happened here is OK. Let alone worthy of praises. I wished someone at BW could have said "we need more time to finish this game", I would have gladly waited 1 or 2, even more years to actually get a finished product, instead of this. So i'll not be content. Being content asks for mediocrity.

I bought it on Steam. It's awkward to play and kind of ugly (it's old!), but it is Sbarge and you can totally close your eyes and hear Kaidan

Oh I seriously doubt Bioware thinks it's ok. I believe they learned their lesson and they will never let a game have so many choices and then leave the player to make up what they can't fit in. The whole thing is a huge headache for everyone. Bioware gave way too much power to the players. It's one reason I loved DA2. No real choices, just how Hawke interacts with what's going on.
I don't think I've seen anyone say it's the greatest series of all time. Just my favorite
I think Bioware is worthy of praise. They created a world and characters that people cared so much about that they wouldn't let it go down without a fight. They also f-ed up a game so badly that they made the news and spawned take back groups. I'd say that's pretty praise worthy.

Get it. Do it. You won't regret it.

Anyways, as for my thoughts on Helpner(sp)'s statement, I'm just going to follow my friend's advice:
If it's said by the devs via twitter/bsn forums/cons/interview, it's NOT CANON if it's not in the game!
This would also seem to include Emily Wong's death by his statement because that was never said in the game and was restricted to twitter only
I'm still not happy that Helpner(sp) said that considering I'm pretty sure one of the other Bioware devs explictly stated that breath meant Shepard was alive and was going to reunite with his/her LI off screen. <_<
