Im currently doing my Insanity playthrough for the first time, playing as an Inflitrator also for the first time (I usually play as sentinel). I'm in Priority: Tuchanka. Cannot wait to recruit Kaidan, I need him, I need his Reave, his Overload and his hotness. He is perfect for anything right?
Anyway, I had no problem with the main mission so far, though I had a really bad time in Grissom Academy, this is getting interesting. In ME2 I found Insanity difficulty almost impossible at the beginning, but it turned frankly easy at the middle of the game until the end. I have the feeling this is going to be easy at the beginning and insane at the end, am I right?
I have Jack as my LI in this playthrogh, but im thinking of cheating on her with Kaidan, Im kinda curious how she is going to react and if my shepard will survive for doing so...
Oh, and I changed my avatar in honor of my quarian engineer, RIP under the ship of White Base.

I tried to come up with a way to say that without my mind going to the gutter.It didn't work.@Andreas: well, women don't have one, it's true, but many of them live with someone who does, so it helps
Also, I wouldn't say it has to do about anatomical knowledge. I am myself astonished at the level of clinical details and precision in which some of the straight fics can go! And also... hell, I NEVER thought about that, or... this is... challenging!
About the women loving gay Shenko, it is really surprising for me too. But then I was surprised also when I discovered "yaoi" and "boy's love" manga (not meaning this is necessarily the case here)
LOL. I totally thought ''did Cortez just insert a Bear reference there? They knew to say that? HOW DO THEY KNOW THESE THINGS OMG That was awesome lolz'by having you hook up with Cortez in a dance club (not all gay guys enjoy clubs) and he was cracking jokes with Vega about "bears" (real life gay term if anyone doesn't know). I much prefer the romance with Kaidan because it just feels so natural to me and less like "Here's your gay romance option that we put in to be politically correct." Although some people have an issue with it because it is so similar to the way it plays out with a femshep but I like that since I don't feel there needs to be a huge distinction between a straight/gay romance.
Also Cortez is only around for one game and doesn't have a ton of content so I never felt as much of an attachment.
I would also agree with your other reference points. Kaidan= more 'whatever' Cortez= 'hey look at me..'
Although I did like the club scene. I didn't perceive it as a stereotype. Shepard's in there a lot anyway, so is Jack, vega, Joker, edi.. ect.
The complaining that his romance arc is the same between mshep or femshep though, I haven 't seen that?

Espically Thane, or Jacob L/I'ers? We get to be with Kaidan from the get go- Tali people don't get to see her until half-way through and then they had to settle for a stock photo? <_<
The only people that got a decent deal were Liara, Garrus, and the VS's.. and if you didn't romance Garrus in ME2? you're SOL.
Cortez the only other romance worth mentioning, and I've discussed my view of that arc and why I dislike it.

"Being dull" is totally out of my ME3-Kaidan-related issues list.
A VG, or a movie for that matter, doens't work like real life does: in a vg you get to see/participate to the topic moments of it. But that's quite obvious.
What I did want was to hear/see something more intimate throughout the whole game between my Shep and Kaidan, something that would have allowed me (the player) to witness an emotional development of the two as a couple, not just random conversations about everything else but Shenko. Especially considering that they had been separated for a long, long time, I wished there was something that would have finally created a very strong emotional bond, something like the one between Shep and Garrus (not so brother-ish, tho), that has always looked so natural and real.
I don't think that all that I said was hard to achieve, all it would have taken for example was some cutscene of the two exiting a room, holding their hands and smiling, or Shepard asking Kaidan for some advice/hugs... instead we had to make interview with that Allers or helping Vega with his doubts about the recruitment as an N7.
Finally, since the main problem of ME3 conversation-wise is the auto-dialogue, it would have been nice if we had had the chance to talk to our LIs via dialogue-wheel.

I agree those were the only two parts that were any trouble whatsoever. I felt grissom was harder than London.
