So yeah, some kind of acknowledgement between them would have been interesting.  You get one between Ashely and Tali but I'm not sure if Liara says anything to any of the current squadies if you cheated on her.

Liara says something in LotSB if you hook up with one of the ME2 squaddies.

There's also the epic, "...and now Garrus is doing a lot more than calibrating the Normandy's guns!"

I heard that was like, too right!!!

It's just a bit ridiculous on my part that I've been parading around the galaxy as a nerfed soldier for him to not bother to say anything about it. Actually he's probably off laughing every time I end up dead because I forgot I had biotics and over heated my pistol.

thats me all over ME1

use my pistol...

forget powers.

Hehe.  I was the opposite - in ME1 saw the biotics and thought "Jedi/mage? Score!", especially since I tend to dislike melee in games (I prefer playing my guys further back for some reason, better visibility maybe?)  Was flinging mooks and becoming a great Biotic wind as soon as I figured out how.  First play was a Vanguard in ME1, and would pop Barrier and stand in fire while overheating my pistol - funny since I have terrible aim.  I especially loved playing Adept in ME1: having Kaidan and Liara, tossing whole rooms of bad guys, or colossoi who never stood a chance of touching dirt.  The Saren fight felt like cheating.

Needless to say, ME2's Vanguard was not my cup of tea, and the inability to toss mooks because they had freakin' armor made me sad.  I'm Commander Shepard, god's gift to biotics everywhere, and that guy with a sliver of life is still here because he has armor?  Affronteries everywhere!

In MP though, I'm all about Human Engineer (well, last time I played anyway).  A ride the lightning/Drone of Doom build - an electric caster basically.

/hm, maybe I should lay off the coffee

You have to think that as much as Kaidan and Garrus were probably 'bros' in ME1, that Garrus hooking up with Shepard would have been something else entirely in Kaidan's mind than Shepard hooking up with Thane or Jacob. Also, Garrus is Shepard's friend, and the three of them were tight- and that's just fishing in off-limits waters.

I was never one of the people who wanted to see Garrus and Kaidan duke it out over Shepard. But a strange look exchanged between Kaidan and a romanced Garrus would have been interesting. Like, really, Garrus?

As an aside, I adore Garrus ;)

You know Garrus did call Kaidan out on Horizon.  Seems only fair that Kaidan should be able to speak his mind, too.

On the other hand, Kaidan might understand that since he couldn't be there for Shepard during the fight against the Collectors, that she'd want to be with someone familiar.

I thought there might be a line or two between them as well.  But I guess I wasn't too surprised that there wasn't.

And I always bring Garrus to Horizon just so I can hear that line he says to Kaidan "Reports? So you already knew?" Or something along those lines.  The first time I heard him say that I was all like "You tell him for me Garrus 'cause BioWare won't let ME!"

So isn't there an option to tell Jacob if you got back with Kaidan? Does anyone know how Jacob actually responds to it?

Lol, nevermind, found it.  Most awkward break up discussion evar.

Ok, here's something I've been meaning to ask y'all...

Now that you have a couple (or a LOT) of playthroughs under your belt, do you find yourself choosing specific squadmates for certain missions? For example, I always wait until Kaidan becomes part of my crew before I do "From Ashes" due to the Eden Prime/ME1 connection. Likewise, I always take Javik to do Thessia because of the Prothean connection to Asarian history. And again, Kaidan always goes with me to the Illusive Man's base because of his reaction to the "Project Lazarus" logs.

...or do you just pick your squaddies for the 'stud squad' factor? Posted Image

My squad choice is usually part character love/part "stud" factor.  Lol.  I usually like to bring my LI along for the major missions so the other person will usually be whoever compliments me+LI the best.  So essentially whoever can help me kill banshees with relative ease because I hate the fraking sight of them.  If it's one of the N7 missions then I usually switch things up and experiment just to make the game more interesting.  I like Liara and James in particular for any Cerberus related missions.

Edit:  I just had a thought.  If I happen to be playing as an infiltrator then I like to bring Garrus because competing with him for kills is oh so much fun.

I have to work out the optimal loadout.

Kaidan always goes when he's available, except on Thessia.

I've actually been taking Liara and James to Tuchanka (James asks to go, and I'm not so sure about bringing a turian along to the krogan homeworld). But I know Garrus has some good content, so I may have to switch it around (I take Liara and Garrus to Sur'Kesh—Javik is hilarious on this mission, but I can't do Eden Prime until Kaidan's back, so I never get him).

I take James and Garrus to the turian platoon missions on Tuchanka, and Liara and Garrus to the rachni mission (though I've been thinking about swapping out Liara for James). I have to do all these missions before Kaidan because it works better when the primarch and Wrex are still on the ship (I hate it, but it is what it is).

I always take Kaidan and Liara on the monastery mission, and I take Tali and Kaidan for all the Rannoch missions. I take Kaidan and Garrus to rescue the scientists.

I'm working on the loadouts for Grissom and the coup. I think I'll end up with Garrus and Liara for Grissom, but I need to see if James fits better. I used to take Garrus and Liara on the coup, but Liara is useless on that mission, and James has some good banter (especially when you first shoot one of the elevators—James comments something like "Guess that was their stop." as you fly past the disabled elevator). But then James takes away most of the banter from Garrus (James and EDI actually work great, but Garrus is a former C-Sec officer, so it doesn't seem right to not take him).

For the Cerberus lab mission, I always take EDI and James (one of the only times I use EDI). The others are just whoever I feel like taking.

I do take Liara and Javik on Thessia. I want to take Javik on more missions, but he never seems to match up as well as one of the other squadmates (and there's only ever one available slot, since Kaidan always fills the other). Kaidan goes to Cronos, of course.

I usually take Kaidan and Garrus on Earth, but I've been thinking that I might take James instead. Garrus looks kind of stupid holding Kaidan in the evacuation scene, and it is James' planet after all (and he's a beast, so I can mostly just ignore him at the missile fight).

Stud factor. I always have Kaidan and James. It's a nice bonus that they can have the same uniform. The only time I switch it up is I bring Javik to Thessia. It's just too good not to.

I usually go for those squaddies who would give Kaidan the most banter-whoring. For stud and fun factors, I bring Garrus, James or Javik with Kaidan for their trolly comments. For strategic gameplay purposes, I bring Garrus and Kaidan for my soldiers (tech bursts galore), and Liara and Kaidan for my vanguards (biotic explosions galore). I can't help but bring Kaidan everywhere hehe.

I haven't played SP for a long time. But i think i would genuinely be unable to leave Kaidan if he's available. The only exception would maybe be for the evac scene, since i don't like it for Kaidan > but then is it Liara or Kaidan who takes priority with Joker on the Normandy? Other than that, i would only pick other squaddies for the lore (if i did transcripts for instance), or for an alternate Shep (which i don't have at the moment).

A for the other squaddie, I pick whom makes sense for the mission storywise, if not, i tend to take James for strategy and also because i like the character.

EDIT> i haven't been through laikabaws' transcripts yet, they may give me ideas about specific squads depending on the banter.

Oh my, i wouldn't like to be a Jacob fan. "Chance to dicompress"...
On a side note, about cheating and so on, I never pictured Kaidan and Garrus getting particularly along. Garrus would be fond of Kaidan because Shep would be.

EDIT> sorry, off-topic, did you see the Hackett's congrats for Op Overwatch?
"This success will bring hope to billions of people. (...)  Who are you to play God? There are no good answers to these questions. The reality is, the Reapers have almost every conceivable advantage — numbers, firepower, technology – and we make do with what we have. We strike and retreat because facing the foe head-on would be a disaster. Nowhere is this truer than at Earth."

I like the (unsuccessful) attempt at making this somehow meaningful storywise > my Shep was last seen destroying the Reapers. Posted Image

Are you glad that Kaidan quietly forgave a penitent cheating Shepard in ME3, or do you feel that he should have become angry and demanded a stronger explanation?

My femshep never cheated (and when I say never - I mean never, no "just a physical weakness moment" stuff). So - there was nothing to forgive. And she never thought she has rights to demand any explainations or blame him for anything happened during those two years. So, doctors or friends regardless of gender - could not care less, as he returned to her.

Why was he so quite about cheating if there was any (like no rage or hating)? First, after you find out that person you cared for is alive, there are little thing that matter. Horizon anger is acceptable. And I'm sure it took him hard not to follow asap, as part of him definetely wanted to. Did you notice that he breaks hug+kiss himself, before you answer line? It's hard to tell whom he's more angry with at that moment - shepard or himself, or both.

Also, he understands that Horizon could be taken as some kind of setting her free, if not use short word "dumping". He, probably, thinks he is responsible for that. I should admit that it does not look too..natural, more like BW-forced "allforgiving" feature, like "everyone luvs shepards". But that is not character-breaking.

Now that you have a couple (or a LOT) of playthroughs under your belt, do you find yourself choosing specific squadmates for certain missions?

James+Garrus then Kaidan+Garrus or Kaidan+James, on my canon run Tali's dead, but I tried Kaidan+Tali last time. I liked Tali combat in ME2 better, to be honest. Kaidan+EDI - I did not like her much. And I won't pay for Javik.

saw this on tumblr and was awed with the Shenko love

This thing. They are lying on...is it a baby blanket?!...8P
I mean..tender blue blanket with pineapples (or should I consider those strawberry)?..Where did they get one, I wonder...

And this Kaidan's too young here for Shepard, imo 8P Colours ane nice, though..
