I actually thought Bioware was going for the more sympathetic route with Udina...

Did you read codex entry on Coup? It actually sais that he only wanted hard to force council giving Earth more power. I know it sounds like a little excuse, but still.... Codex, you know.

Another point is involving Kaidan into that. There was a whole thread about why would Udina do that. All that Kaidan \\ Ashley spectre plot line is...very weak, actually. And it's much worse for Ashley, imo. Udina may be pro-human maniac (like TIM in his early ages) and even Anderson claims him to be SOB, but he's not idiot. Idiot would not last that long in Council.

Why would he pick the only person who can turn against him taking Shepard's side? Also - about doing this just to hurt Shepard's feelings...how does Udina knows about current state of theit relations? He saw Shep at the hospital (if shep was there at all)- but that means nothing, even if he could hear what was told there. Because nothing actually was told.

And also have in mind, that some Shepards do not romance Kaidan (yeah, I know, strange people.. 8P ). So...he picks someone from Shep's crew, probably - former lover. So what? I don't think Shepard can be reason. If we follow codex, it was actually more a political move (like people needed to see some ceremony and old familiar human hero faces, feel good etc). And Shepard just chanced to be in a right place in a right time, guided by Holy Plot. Because...no one really thinks that Udina set a Coup right to the Shepard's arrival, right?

For me - not. She let him shoot. And, probably, he's even aware about it.
But if I only knew that he can die there - I'd interrupt it, no doubt. I found out that he can die much after play, from YT. My first run was clear and no metagaming, so - it was her, not me.

Ah, the leaked script...  It said a lot of things that aren't true.  Things like, "you can kill Liara" or "Shepard survives in a variety of endings."

@Nrieh On Udina being sympathetic, it was prior the Coup (after meeting with the Council), so there was no access to a Coup codex at that time--that's why I thought Bioware was going to do a different take on the Coup (a more sympathetic reason than just political bs) :happy: I read every codex as soon as I get my hands on them. And I also posted my reservations about Udina using Kaidan a page back.

I don't think he was indoctrinated. I don't think he had a lot of exposure to reaper tech (except for pieces of Sovereign), nor did he necessarily believe in TIMs agenda. I think he convinced himself he would just use TIM to gain power. No doubt TIM also though that he'd use Udina as a puppet in the Citadel. Too bad for both of them that Shep and Kaidan ruined that plan.

I also felt they were trying to make it look as thought Uldina and Shepard were on the same page for once.  But when he tried the coup attempt I felt he was doing it because he felt he could use the situation to gain more power and/or help/assistance for Earth (and himself).  And he thought he would protect himself by putting Kaidan between himself and Shepard.  

My first play through I shot Uldina because I was afraid if I didn't he would kill Kaidan or one of the councilors.  After that I randomize it depending on my current Shepards mindset if that makes sense.

You know, I think that "spectre" line (along with Udina's one) could have been much cut. You may remember that we were discussing post-Thessia once? And that it could be simply written for MUCH different mission outcome? I suspect something much similiar here. "Let's make them Spectres and we can...we could...we might...what? We're out of time and money....hell. Well...let them shoot Udina then...Or Shepard....Or self...too many options? Let's leave just Udina then"

I've always let Kaidan take the shot - feels like he's earned the right to shoot the bstrd (always loved it when he got angry and shouted at Udina in ME1). But I almost felt sorry for Udina - they added more dialog to his character, the sequence near the beginning you start to feel that he actually has a personality and a character beyond the superficial. And then he's dead. Ah well!

I shot Udina the first time because goddamn it feels so good.  But I've let Kaidan do it every other time.  Because, sheesh, he's a Spectre now . He needs to get used to killing people.  I mean how many people has Shepard had to kill? I let him do it because it helps put him on the same page.  Makes him less of a subordinate, you know?

So that's just the blood really that makes her look creepy.

I don't know... i've never been too fond of her.
I like her as the little sister. I saw the romance vids on Youtube about all the process of exchanging fluids, removing her mask, and so on, i thought it was well done nonetheless.

BUT, i still am bugged about her asking Shepard to lie about her father, i was really disappointed by her.

Monday through Friday 9:15-6 EST (does that mean anything to someone in the UK? Probably not.).  Luckily my RL husband works from home but stays cooped up in the bedroom until midnight so I can play multiplayer and curse really loudly for at least 4 hours a day if I so choose.  Life isn't so bad.



I'm glad ladywinde realized that Kaidan in the tub needed to happen.
