I'll speak as somebody who got driven away from here after finally experiencing one gender/gay debate too many. Nobody cares what you feel about somebody else's Shepard and Kaidan. If you like Kaidan, discuss what you like about Kaidan.

If you don't like Kaidan, with your Shepard or with somebody else's Shepard, there are other threads here that you may find more to your liking.

I wish this wasn't cut. Although angry Kaidan may seem unlike him, I crave more Kaidan content (and it gives a new insight of him, being a controlled person and all--he needs to let off some steam too hopefully in a steamier way with Shepard, but I take what I can get; and I want to see and hear that anger <3)

Agreed, hope it's still in.  And angry Kaidan is hot good.  He may be in control a lot of the time, but he's human (as far as a video game character can be considered "human").  He's not unfeeling, or blase; he doesn't shunt his feelings away, or pretend they don't exist.  Kaidan's character is all about dealing with them, and we see his calm demeanor after they're dealt with.  This - this is the view of him dealing, that time just before we see him level-headed and rational while at Shepard's side.

You, good sir, either trolling or being impolite. Both cases are rather poor way to introduce yourself, imo.

Here are straight female femshep players (surprise?) and here are males that like Alenko. Starting with saying that you don't care about others opinion was a bad idea. If you don't - you'd better post to blog instead of forum.


@laikabaws [about angry Kaidan]. I think those lines (if not fake) were taken out for a reason. The only place we see "angry Kaidan" is Horizon. Being same crazy about reapers unclear reasons and motives...does not fit the picture for me.

I understand that main idea was something like "this man has inner feelings and emotions, he's "Mr. Selfcontrol", but even he has limits and needs support". But that's not something we don't know, do we? And I feel like it was probably replaced with "family" talk in release. Which shows as much (or even more), without yelling and being mad and angry with no obvious reason. It was written well.

And also.."why us?!" is a strange question, considering he's already on Normandy and knows about Palevan and (probably) Thessia and many other worlds being destroyed. He never was too pro-human.

@Nrieh Nope, it was supposed to be an additional cutscene, not a replacement (in the same vein as Ashley's cut dialogue was about Shepard's resurrection--there were even screencaps from these). Other characters were also supposed to have another scene. The existence of the "family" cutscene, illusive man cutscene and this angry cutscene is there in the leaked script as separate things.

As for angry Kaidan, I understand that the dialogue may be OOC for Kaidan, and were taken out because of that. But I also want to see, I guess, that frustration of having Earth decimated, the stress of not being able to do anything about it, and losing the time to actually make a difference (also given the recent shenanigans during the Coup--such a waste of time). I guess this is where that anger is stemming from. As much as it was highlighted in Horizon, most people see Kaidan there as being a "jerk" (than being rationally angry) and is related more with his relationship with Shepard. Here we see him being angry about an issue that isn't just about Shepard, but about the very idea of needing the Reapers (like why do they even exist if they only hurt?), which is an existential issue more massive in scope. I'm not debunking your idea by the way, I also agree with it and may be the possible reason why it was taken out (other than no budget and time).

@laikabaws Well, if you say that each of crew had 1 scene cut - probably, it was done not for sake of character integrity. But I still think it could be OOC for Kaidan. Rare thing when greedy motives do good things.

Don't we see exactly this in "family talks"? I can't bring exact quotes - it's you who master lines and banters in this thread - but that's how I remember that scene. Also Sbarge does his best of the best (e.g."hell the reunion party" line).

I don't know. I still can't see Kaidan yelling or getting mad and angry because of some unsolved existential issues. Especially since he knows that Shepard also had to leave Earth. Both of them are in a same boat here. And I don't see Horizon as pure "relations" issue. It's all about him. That's strange, but the more I think about Horizon - the more I appreciate it from many points. Though, it's good no one was near me to see my reactions on my first ME2 run... 8P

As for Horizon, I'm not saying it's purely Kaidan's relationship with Shepard. There are a lot of overarching themes that says a lot of things for me in Horizon too, but the crux or climax for me is where he currently stands in Shepard's life and that he has the integrity to do what he deems is right despite someone "larger than life" as Shepard.

Ah, sorry I can't seem to accurately state where I'm getting at haha, but I understand where the OOC-ness is coming from~

In other news, I can't seem to finish that non-romanced, cheating playthrough anymore.  I guess I'll head back for some ME1 again. It's been so long  I wish I remember the gameplay though.

Yes, also this. I don't see him "whiny" in any part of game, because he never bothers about some abstract things. I mean for me "whiny" is one who always blames weather, government or Reapers instead of doing or offering something. All times Kaidan gets angry - he has obvious reasons to do so, he reacts (like "renegaded" reaction on Udina in ME1, Horizon or Shepard who lies about cheating). His "anti-cerberus" line is not much of whining, but trying to sort things out and understand what a hell happened, what is\\was on Shep's mind, and how same person who found Kahoku dead and soldiers crippled by some experiments could tolerate TIM. But that very cut out scene could be a nice example of "whining" even from my pov.

Yes, I also understand your wish to see more Kaidan and to see more of his emotions in-game. Probably, that's lesser problem for me, as I'm heavy "headcanoner" and I'm not limiting myself with in-game content only. I doubt anyone seriously believes that those two had nothing but two short chats, few random lines and one....er...quick drink for all the ME3 timeline.
