Ha. QFT. ME3 did a better job of showing crew interactions outside of Shepard (Garrus & Tali hooking up, Kaidan playing poker with James, Javik punking Vega, Joker pestering Liara about her head tentacles...), but I still have yet to see any direct evidence that Kaidan has had any social interactions outside of the Normandy. That's what head cannon's for, I guess.Mimitochan wrote...

@leborum > it'd feel wrong for Kaidan to be friendless. But with the headaches, and all the banter from ME1 about him not liking noisy places and so on, it's hard to imagine him with a group of friends (which would be the type to convince him to date that never happened doctor). I always pictured him with friends he could practice sports with or fellow soldiers, maybe a guy like James, friends he could have beers with, while making jokes in calm surroundings, in the open.
EDIT> @Doodle: there, edited that, shorter, happy?

I think it's safe to assume that the Normandy crew have a network of relationships outside the SR-x. If no one else, family friends or the people who served alongside them before Shepard's involvement and after her/his absence.leborum wrote...

My bad.
Edit: Paprika - I'm sure lots of people have been in that corner of the internet before. Sometimes it sneaks up on you. However, as I am terrible at recognizing people (I mess it up in movies all tie time), I doubt I'd be very helpful to you.

Absolutely this... Kaidan mentions a doctor, there are thousands of doctors around, not all of them human either, and yet folks assume Dr Michel. Two years and a large galaxy, there's a lot that could have happened that we just don't know about, but hey, it's Shepard's story, not Kaidan's, so I guess the writers didn't want to go too far filling in blanks for us.Random Jerkface wrote...

Also agree with @leborum on the idea of influence from friends - absolutely! Kaidan was carrying a lot of baggage around with him before ME1, he held back from using his biotics to their full potential until he saw what happened on Eden Prime. That was a life changing event, and the people who were there with him may have had a lot of influence over him as his outlook on things changed. Geth? then Reapers? Yeah, that's pretty life changing, and could cause you to do a lot of introspection. Achieving a consensus with yourself is sometimes easier once you've talked to someone. Particularly if they are someone you really connect with, you'll find you sync up with their way of thinking, and you both diverge from a previous path together to forge a new one.
Welcome back @mimitochan! I am sorry but I did chuckle at that pyramid of doom - poor thing, a harsh treatment, but meh it didn't last long so it's good to have you back!

Thanks Strawberry, yeah, i KNOW, it was so lamely funny or funnily lame, i'd find it laughable myself if i hadn't been left muted behind my screen like some fish in a tank. Just call me the Incredible Spam Girl from now on, yeah, that's how bad i am
@leborum: it wasn't specifically a joke. I never headcanoned this precisely. Actually i mostly don't. I certainly think Kaidan has friends, but i would say just a couple of very close friends, not a lot of them, as in some sort of large group of friends you regularly hang out with for drinks. That's what the Horizon letter gives me a hint of and i don't think it fits. I suppose they didn't want him to say that he made that decision to move on on his own, that's how i see it, that's why they involved "friends" in there.
About the doctor, i was indeed making a joke this time. What can i say, when i heard about that doctor before beginning my first ME2 playthrough, i think my heart sank at the idea that they had made him just forget about my Shep and downright go with someone else, pretty much actually... Jacob style!!! (Poor Jacobmancers...)
So i was really relieved to read that he had JUST been dating. On a side note, i really don't like thinking too much about Kaidan during those two years. The death of someone dear, that's something that's really long and difficult to deal with, so i don't actually believe two years would have been enough in that specific case, not that i like the idea of Kaidan suffering.
About renegade Kaidan from ME1, i don't like the ability as a player to shape Kaidan. So it's really not the RL situation that i'm uneasy about. As a player, i want NPCs to exist on their own, and the game to let my avatar interact with them, not change them. As a player, i can shape the outcome of the game, the relationships, but i don't want to do that with characters. On a side note, in my fantasy, Kaidan is strong-willed enough not to be so easily influenced. As far as gameplay is concerned, i always picture this as the game just wanting to let Kaidan be "easier" on your Shep, to make it less weird that he's attracted to your Shep even though she's an ass (shortcut here of course, i don't remember well the renegade dialogue).
Since my Shep usually picks the neutral or paragon options in there, my headcanon just don't deal with this, just as it doesn't deal with jealous Kaidan (not as out of headcanon here, but still weird), which is totally not logical, but, I'll live
@laika > no, i don't.

About renegade Kaidan, I never actually did that (my renegades go all softy on him in ME1, in ME3 though...another story). I'm curious, what does he say? (hmmm to paragon him or renegade him on my last ME1 run, that is the question).
More of that ramp-modeling Shepard as an incentive:
Oooooooh....

Kaidan? I like it when you're swaying.
Ahem.
Renegaaaaaade Kaidan is waiting for you here >>>
Oh my, i've just heard 10 seconds of it and wow... this game was so good... i miss this...
And you've got the "You're something else you know that?" line in there, which i don't know if you can get elsewhere.
My my, i may do these ME1 transcripts after all...

My my, Kaidan is yelling quite a lot in there, aha, so funny >>> locker scene and Ilos are different, and Kaidan doesn't want to save the Council too!!!
Well, i'd need to mod my game first, to skip cutscenes and such, and i'll probably wait for Leviathan first. But this vid reminded how much i liked that game... Any tip on doing this to make it easier? I saw you actually screencaptured dialogues right?
EDIT> about baby oiling, well, i wouldn't have put it that way, but yes, lust was certainly all around Kaidan all the time in ME1

I also can't understand where people took that "Michel" stuff from. Doctor can stand for a science degree, by the way. Not medic. If you remember Alenko right - he says that Liara is too bookish type for him, and comparing to Michel - Liara looks much more "adventurous".Kaidan mentions a doctor, there are thousands of doctors around, not all of them human either, and yet folks assume Dr Michel.
It's hard to see what exactly writers were trying to say here. Another popular solution - that he was attending psychotherapist, and that's very this "doctor". It also lacks of logic for me. I'm sure that all the alliance personnel regardless of rank undergoes some routine "sanity checks". And most likely - some additional support isoffered after any serious accident. But from what I know - all kind of psychologists and therapists never become personal with current patients. Neither for drinking nor "some life", if he\\she does - it's a poor specialist. Or (s)he should recommend him another therapist to keep relations. And he does not say "former doctor". So for me - it's even less likely then Michel.
And also as he wrties it - he does not think Shepard needs specification, like if Shepard knows whom he is talking about. And his friends (whoever they are) know either this doctor or about him(her). How often do your friends know something, let's say, about your dentist? I can't imagine Kaidan Alenko ( even after thord bottle of lager) talking about how he thinks his dentist is cute and nice, can you?..
Safest thing to for me to assume, is that he meant some of biotic-specialist, not a therapist or something.
Someone who knows him long and good enough. Not too close or personal, may be, but, hey, even if you visit same hairdresser for few years - you may have some kind of friendly relations and talk over many things. Someone who is fully aware about his L2 - so there's no need to pretend about it. And also - that kind of "doctor" would hardly take him out to Purgatory or another place where "too many lights, too much noises". And such "doctor" can be possibly known to Shepard (and friends), and also - (s)he has no professional restrictions about relations with patients. And...*sigh* yes, this "doctor" can be both male and female.
Looks like draft headcanon detected...
