Edit: Hey that lovely top-Kaidan made me wonder, did we ever figure out what that logo on his armor was? I still think it looks like a stylized wolf head.

I also like Sentinels. All my Sheps are Sentinels and Paladin is a Sentinel too (and has a nice voice).
Origin has problems every now and then. I'm not surprised.

All your Sheps from ME1? Is is gameplay/tactics choice or just because you chose the class and stuck with it?
I got the Paladin but haven't even tried it yet. Too busy throwing them unlimited grenades.

Okay, new chapter is up:  If It Meant Living-68: Earth / DA Link / AO3 Link.

You can probably guess from the title that this chapter covers the final attack - up through the FOB, anyway.  But of particular interest to readers of this thread, about halfway through we get to live inside Kaidan's head for a little while, and find out what he did in between Brain Camp and joining the military.  Obviously, we can never know what officially happened during those years, and this is just one person's interpretation, but I hope you will find it a worthwhile story .

Also, there is an emotional scene at the end...

For those curious, though we have now gotten to Earth, we are nowhere near done yet - there are at least four more chapters to go after this one.  I'll share more about what I intend to do when it is done when we get closer.

Now after this chapter a few questions may be raised, so I have put together a handy Q&A:

Reader:  Does the final scene mean that Kaidan won't be going with Shepard to the Conduit?
Graceyn:  Yes.

Reader:  Does that mean there won't be an accident during the Conduit run and pick-up by the Normandy of the squadmates?
Graceyn:  Yes.

Reader:  But why not??  That scene was so heartfelt and touching and beautiful!
Graceyn:  As they say on Tumblr...for reasons.

Reader:  That doesn't make any sense.
Graceyn:  Just keep reading - I promise I won't let you down!

Since the gameplay kept changing from 1 to 3, i never bothered keeping the same class for my Shep > sentinel > vanguard > infiltrator. I chose infiltrator because it seems to be the best class for sniper rifles which i love, but i don't find the infiltratror class too appealing, SP and MP likewise. Haven't tried all infiltrator characters though, it's difficult to play solo (as an infiltrator should in theory).

It's less creepy if you picture Kaidan wearing a cake hat that's just too big for him and fell over his face. If it makes you feel better I'll give you my usual Cake Alenko.

I always play an engineer. Though I did roll a vangaurd for ME3 that I haven't gone far with. I just loved Sabotage in the first game (Are you shooting at me? Well try that when your guns are overheated!) and AI Hacking throughout the series. And then the Combat Drone was introduced in ME2 and the rest is history.

Let me tell you now you've never lived until you've had both Tali and Legion on your squad as an Engineer. With all our drones equipped with rockets that is a six man squad wrecking crew.

Oh no, don't worry about Cakalenko (yes, i like it as one word ;p), it's just my opinion really.
I was just wondering how the artist ended up creating this cause yes, i see this as K with his head chopped off and with a cake grown or put in its place.

That chocolate cake Kaidan with Crème Anglaise at Far Cry beach though, i'd like to know who put that together, cause that's one my favourite silly K pics.

I liked Adept in ME2 and ME3. I did a PT as a Sentinel in ME3.

@catgirl > i'll admit i want that dreamteam now too! Did only 1 ME2 playthrough though. As for the others... well, the last time i built actual strategic squad was early ME1 before... you know. Kaidan has become quite SP mandatory i'm afraid, and biotics are not always efficient/useful.
That's why MP is enjoyable in that aspect for me, i can actually focus on combat...

In my experience it actually matters less on the harder difficulties because they just die all the time anyway. ME3 they seem to survive, but it's so easy that it doesn't matter.
