I've been reading Manipulations on FFN all morning. It's very good and wonderfully written, but...do you ever just want to take two characters and smash their skulls together in the hope of knocking sense into them? That's how I feel right now about this author's Shep and Kaidan; I'm right around chapter 40. A testament to the skill of the writer, to be sure. I don't know how to sustain that level of emotional tension between romantic characters. I just bloody want them to make up already, but I guess that's just me.

Wonderful piece of writing, best fanfic I've ever read by far (though I haven't read that many).  But you are completely right; the dramatic tension created is virtually unbearable.  I've almost quit reading a few times because it was so...frustrating....

Quick tip though:  Chapter 59 (the most recent one) is a fairly large payoff (not complete payoff, but rather a lot), so make it there.  But don't skip to there!

Thanks for the tip! And I wouldn't dream of skipping and missing out on all the tasty goodness. Glad to know there's a (sort of?) payoff on the horizon, er, so to speak.

Yeah, chapter 59 was awesome. I keep hoping for a new update, although the author spoils us already with frequency. I try not to get hooked on in progress fiction, because the suspense kills me, but Manipulations is worth the hand wringing.

now that criz pointed me to the new screenshots I found out that this appears to be a fanart. anyone having an idea who the artist is? I was thinking patryk garret but as you can see it's not in his gallery, so...

It is Patryk Garrett - it's his first official piece as an employee of Bioware. They unveiled it at PAX last weekend on Bioware TV.

Cute yellow geth is good, but screenshot nb.3 left me furious. I can agree that we already have one screenshot already, but why can't it be Ashley or James? Hell, even Tali (checks if Isaac is nearby) would be nice change.

As far as the quote from Mac.....oooohh. Actually, I think that's a good sign because w/ LotSB, Liara became a monumental part of the story. And we didn't have to kill her, or anything. She's still on our side. Her Lair is our Lair. 

With Liara it was a real bomb she dropped, for me. Finding out she was the one that tracked down and gave my body to Cerberus. She was into alot of stuff while we were "dead".

So, now my mind is spinning w/ wonderings about what Kaidan's story is gonna be.

We know that Liara was so distant in large part because she had that big secret hanging over her head, and she thought Shepard moght hate her for what she's done.........(and yeah, it was a big deal. Kinda creepy, but, hey, I'm back, Baby...)

So, what is Mac saying? Is there a different reason besides Shepard being w/ Cerberus that made Kaidan...edgy? Or in addition to us being w/ Cerberus......? I don't think there are any clues to be found, either. I mean, I didn't see that bit w/ Liara coming...At All.

as far as I know english isn't his mother tongue; maybe he's just not very good at speaking/writing english and thus hesitant to reply

I absolutely love the femShep he did before E3 (not the new official one), it's my wallpaper at the moment: patryk-garrett.deviantart.com/art/Mass-Effect-3-E3-Wallpaper-210990748.  I really, really wish they just paid him for it and chosen it for the new face of femShep.  The piece he did that won the FanArt contest is also beautiful: patryk-garrett.deviantart.com/#/d3vzz0w. 

I could take or leave most of the rest of the work, and the new official piece leaves me with mixed feelings (why does she look 14 years old?), but there's no doubt that all of his pieces project a real love and appreciation for the character being portrayed - which is why it would indeed be wonderful if he did Kaidan .

and don't worry Jenova, he said he'd do all mass effect squaddies, and I think he will. No matter how long I think a Kaidan art from him will be worth the wait (in my opinion).

Though, Patryk's artwork is hella gorgeous and I wasn't surprised that he got hired-- he does deserve it!

Well he manages in his descriptions, maybe I am just too English to reply to?  You don't need much English to say thank you.... Google translate can even manage that

I think he just gets too many messages. Ain't like we're the only one to get an idea for a request ;P I wrote to him in Polish about Kaidan but it was already after he got hired or shortly before, don't remember, so he most likely can't do it now anyway.
