Kaidan alive and well. :)

I finished my playthrough and just felt the need to share my happiness at the survival of Kaidan even if my Shepard is no longer with him.

Control ending or low EMS Destroy?

Control Ending because the most recent Shepard (Abelard) was so paragon it hurt. haha. Thanks for asking. :) I did the destroy ending for Starr Shepard, she had heavy renegade leanings and yes she survived. :)

Wouldn't call Control a paragon ending just because it's blue.

Myself, I think Kaidan was in-the-closet on his bi-sexuality in ME1. I do not expect anyone else to subscribe to that opinion, but it closely mirrors my own personal coming out story.

Interestingly enough not everybody views sex and relationships the same as everybody else. My view is that Kaidan makes it very clear that he isn't the type to just bed somebody for the bedding alone, so I don't think he even knows if he is bi-sexual or not in ME1, or if he knows it isn't what drives him. I think Kaidan falls for the person not the gender. He makes it clear that he hasn't been with anybody, which I know for some people is nearly unbelievable, but there are people like that in this world. I think that being the type of soldier he and Shepard are that it's very possible that time off is very limited, so that may have much to do with it. There are all those regs too. As Starr I romanced Kaidan in ME1 (well Kaidan made me pick him or Liara) and she didn't cheat on him in ME2, so it was nice to get back with him in ME3. I've done a male Shepard (Mindoir) that romanced Kaidan in ME1 & 3. And a male Shepard or three that didn't romance anybody in the first two games (well some of them had a fling with Jack). So I guess my point is that Kaidan isn't driven by his urges but by his heart and mind.

No what makes it a paragon choice is its limited negative impact on all involved, if anything it ends up helping more. Destroy not only destroys Reapers but all Synthetics. Synthesis alters everybody, which is not very paragon because you are taking choice (free will) from all synthetics and organics. But this isn't really the forum to discuss the ending choices. :)

@devsin Really weird right? :'D Hmmm but I have a theory why this occurs, I'll try it out later. Still updating that max banter guide (for the first mission at least).

For the endings, most of my Shepards picked destroy based on their principles (paragon, paragrade, renegade), not because they wanted to live for Kaidan. They had no idea they would live (starbrat says they would die because of their synthetic parts). In their minds, destroying the Reapers for good would be the only way. Nevertheless, one of my Sheps would choose synthesis (paragon) and another would choose control (renegade) based on their principles too.

Oh and while I'm on my chatter about Kaidan kick... You are not going to believe what happened!!! When I got to the part where you get to chat everybody up before the final push, Kaidan was missing! I was all nooooooooo fortunately I have gotten into the habit of converting autosaves immediately to numbered saves so I loaded up the autosave and phew he was where he was suppose to be. Him not being there was very stressing though. Dang invisible Kaidan bugs!

My husband was like, "What's wrong?" And I was, "Kaidan isn't where he's supposed to be I can't find him anywhere!" And my husband says, "Are you romancing him again?!" LOL!

Hackett says everything which broke because of Destroy ending, can be rebuilt. EDI and geth can be "resurrected." Besides, I don't think mind controlling someone is much of a paragon choice.
All that matters is that Shep and Kaidan will see each other someday.
Case closed. :P

Cool. I have a bunch of stuff to do early, so I won't be up for long (ideally), but I look forward to reading over the banter guides tomorrow.

I'm not happy about being locked into destroy, but I don't see any choice (I don't consider the opt-out to be an actual ending, even though it's the only one where Shepard stops being a tool).

I never had any Shepards evil enough to pick control (one or two who may have considered it, but I don't think any would actually choose it), and after the extended cut, I simply cannot pick synthesis. It was already unbelievably offensive, and then they made it downright creepy to boot (and it's such a spectacular feeling that this is the ending they consider to be the right one and that synthesis will be a part of any game that's set after the events of ME3).

But the good thing with having universally crappy endings is that there's no real need to try to advocate any of them. You can pick anything you want; it's all basically the same. ;-)

Yeah, I remember some bug way back at release where Kaidan was vanishing from the FOB for some people.

Luckily, he's always been there for me. It'd suck to get to the ending and have Kaidan disappear on you.

It's fortunate that you're a smart saver! :-)

@devsin Max Banter guide 1st mission is done~ Major whew... :D
Also, I'm with you regarding the endings~ I personally can't take synthesis, but I have a default Shep as a homage to bioware's "canon," so she picks synthesis lol.

Control can be the ultimate paragon choice . Paragon has everything to do with charming (controling) your way through a situation. Renegade is strong arming your way through. Neither is good or evil (not sure if that's what you were thinking of though, sorry if I'm putting words in your mouth). Control can also be the ultimate renegade choice as well if you see your Shepard using it to rule the galaxy with an iron fist. I always saw Control as the way to galaxy domination whether paragon or renegade.

I always thought it was interesting. This is the biggest reason why destroying the geth in ME2 is a renegade choice and rewriting (brain washing) them is a paragon choice. It's also why the Control Ending is blue and Destroy is red. It has absolutely nothing to do with good or evil. Remember their roots. In ME1 it was the charm option and the intimidate option.

Thought this funny :D

Here's something I was wondering about. If you had the choice, would you rather see Kaidan taking a similar place as EDI did in Leviathan but losing squad banter (like EDI), or would you rather see him with more squad banter? You can only pick ONE. There are line budgets.

Sweet, one for my side :), destroy has received a lot of backlashing lately :(...enough of endings talk

Anyway, I have seen the term renegade Kaidan pop up sometimes, what does that mean?

What, destroy their pants? kinky much? :P

I never did it, but you can snag him in ME1 by using renegade options instead of paragon options. Apparently it makes him side with letting the council die in ME1.

Ugh I see, but that is basically dependent on Shepard's actions and words, right?

I am currently doing a new ME1 playthrough ... only imperfection: all the "look but don't touch" business between Kaidan and mShep <_<

:wizard: Puppy face Kaidan got your attention? Just a quick heads up, then I'll go. Significantly updated Max Banter guide and Banter Count for Leviathan (1st and 2nd missions) with Liara's results~

@Vigilant111 renegade Kaidan becomes more humanity-centered, anti-alien, anti-council in general. My main Sheps destroy all the way regardless of morality too.

Gah why top?!
