Control to me is the logical "evil" choice. It's the choice to save the Collector base or to concentrate on Sovereign.laikabaws wrote...
@devsin But for me, synthesis is the worstBut I agree with your assessment of control :3
Synthesis seems to come from a world-view that is deeply depressing to me. That somebody there could envision this as the perfect solution is really unfortunate. People do not have to be the same to have the same value. What a horribly offensive message it sends to say otherwise.
I don't ascribe either to any of the ending choices, don't worry. :-)AshTheBrave wrote...
It's bioware showing you that it isn't good or evil. The choices just are. I know some people think I'm giving them too much credit but quite the opposite. It's just confusing. That's why they stuck TIM in Control and Anderson in Destroy. The options are not good and evil. Trust your instincts. It's better to see the choices without the paragon and renegade colored goggles. They don't mean anything.
It's just strange when you get people who say they picked control because their Shepard is pure paragon, like there's some correlation between the two. (It doesn't really bother me, though, because BioWare wants everybody to pick synthesis, so technically everybody who doesn't is picking a bad ending, regardless of whether they think they're making a paragon or renegade or "unaligned" choice.)
The first time I went through, I had to pause for a long time trying to figure out where to go. It was embarrassing.AshTheBrave wrote...
Lol Jackie. I chose the wrong one the first time I played. I accidentally chose Synthesis because I was looking for the way to choose Destroy. I missed the fork in the road and was just walking. I was like, "where do I blow up the reapers?" Then Shepard went running towards the beam and the whole time I was yelling "go back!" And then Shepard melted and nothing's been the same since. It was very traumatic.
Luckily, I remembered that the video of TIM getting electrocuted was blue, so I figured to go in the opposite direction. ;-)

Hope in destroy is larger than just one's survival, it is also hope for galactic independence from the reapers, hope for peace, hope for freedom
ohhh I was going to disagree with your point but then I reread it and saw the word "independence" and you're right, because while the other two choices you will not have the reapers attacking again we're not independent from them. Plus I want my Kaidan back I don't want lose him again

Oh and while I'm on my chatter about Kaidan kick... You are not going to believe what happened!!! When I got to the part where you get to chat everybody up before the final push, Kaidan was missing! I was all nooooooooo fortunately I have gotten into the habit of converting autosaves immediately to numbered saves so I loaded up the autosave and phew he was where he was suppose to be. Him not being there was very stressing though. Dang invisible Kaidan bugs!
My husband was like, "What's wrong?" And I was, "Kaidan isn't where he's supposed to be I can't find him anywhere!" And my husband says, "Are you romancing him again?!" LOL!
I had that same bug, if you go into the Comm room and holo-call people before talking to Kaidan, he'll disapear. I was saving him for last person to talk to, then when I got out of the Comm room he was gone!!! I too reloaded a save.
Morning everyone! /sips coffee

Kunari, did you brew extra coffee?
I still need to find the time to shoot that annoying kid. I don't understand why Shep has nightmares now...after 2-3 years.

It's just all the people who "died on Shepard's watch". I like your idea better. that would've been cool. I though the dream how it it is fine. I just didn't really care about that kid. It was his fault he died. If he'd have gone with me he'd have been fine. His choice.

Each ending appeals to every person differently. See with me? I have valid reasons why I decide to take any of the options at all. My Shepard's personalities dictate what options they'll take. My Fem!Shep, her intial ruthless incarnation would Destroy without a second though. After character Development, she may consider other options.
My Bro!Shep is an Earthborn, he's a solider but a leader and peace maker. He's more open to accepting the idea behind control and Synthesis. But he would never agree with the Illusive man's idea of lifting up just humanity and downcasting everyone else.
Depending on which Shepard I play as and how psychologically sound they are, that determines the ending I choose.
I love how you consider the ending choices so what I say here is not an attempt to pick-a-fight. All but one of my Shepards were all there to kill the Reapers, destroy let them do just that.
Kunari Shepard, my original ME1-ME3 PT mostly Paragon (killed the Council in ME1 and the heretics in ME2). At first picked Synthesis as I was curious to see what it would do and it was 4am so I was running on no sleep... reloaded and picked Destroy.
I had no idea that Shepard could survive any of the endings as it sounded like he'd die no matter the choice. I was shocked that he lived and that made me more mad with ME3 than if he'd died. Now Shepard lived and Kaidan lived, yet they were light-years apart without any way for them to know the other still lived.

You know what? People don't have to see the control ending as paragon if they decide not to but I don't agree that it isn't the paragon ending and since everybody is entitled to their own opinion perhaps making snap judgements about other people's thought processes is counter productive and this isn't the thread for that type of discussion anyways.
I've noticed a huge trend in this thread to go off on tangents that are not Kaidan related and personally I'm tired of having to wade through the sludge to find Kaidan. Personal non-Kaidan related bonding doesn't belong in a thread about Kaidan. I would appreciate not having to wade through pages and pages of people talking about off topic things.

Before the EC you coudl shoot the StarBrat and nothing would happen. I used to play target practice all the way to the Destroy panel... but with the EC they made it a Refusal option trigger. My first PT in the EC was Refusal on accident... /sigh
