Random thoughts for the day while I wait on some of my servers to reboot...

I think Liara would have been much improved if she'd been a little bit more like the badass shadow broker back in ME1 - the fainting part just drove me crazy. Was replaying ME1 the other day, I wanted Wrex to jump up and say STOP WHINING!

But given that her character got a lot more dark in 2 and 3 I think she improved over the trilogy. From what I hear of Ashley, she never regained the depth she had in ME1 but I wouldn't know for sure. I think Garrus had a brilliant story throughout the series (and goodness I loved his Homeworlds story), and I love how Tali realized at the end the truth about the Geth and Quarian history...

Of course, Kaidan's story is splendid and I love how he matured (dat grey hair...:), but I really want to know more about the missing time when Shep was busy fighting collectors, and about his biotic squad.

Of course, it's easier said than done, but why would the fact that you're actually romancing one character would cause other characters to behave differently towards your Shep?

You mean...you mean everyone kissing everyone Shepard? 0_o...looks like you picked a wrong game... 8P

BW would be fools not to make stand-alone put into those two years. I mean besides that Vega-anime (which was already postponed afaik).

No, I didn't mean this.

The condition for "are you flirting with me" translates in natural language as >
 > your Shep didn't show specific romance interest towards anyone (all other LI TrueLove values set to false) and your Shep has been nice to Kaidan so far (Score = 10+)
> or your Shep has set his heart on Kaidan (TrueLove = true) and can't go backwards no matter what.

That's actually very interesting because this is not romance specific.
So this is when Kaidan actually hits on your Shep (if this line is considered as such), the game makes him active on this. 

I may remember wrong, but in ME1, i always felt Liara had been taking initiative on hitting on Shep, whereas with Kaidan I always felt your Shep was hitting on him > i.e. impossible to start the romance if you don't want it.

It really felt like they set it up perfectly for a sidestory with Kaidan and Ashley both really. There's this whole period of time where we really aren't sure what they were up to and how they got promoted. They must have done something pretty cool for such a jump in rank. I'd really like to know.

Mimi, I agree, it seemed to me In ME1 just being nice to Liara starts a relationship but with Kaidan it does take more effort.

Sad to say, but they most likely would be (I'm looking at you Homeworlds comics of Vega-Tali-Garrus-and again...Liara <_<). Ash and most especially Kaidan, don't seem "marketable" enough in Bioware's eyes (merch where are you?), so I'm not holding my breath. If they do finally market Ash and Kaidan, I'd be pleasantly surprised and pleased...which they've never elicited from me in a long time. (okay maybe the strikethrough was unfair, but I've been disappointed enough).

As a side note, question to Thread >

Regardless of the reality of the game you experienced and of how RL flirting works, if your Shepard came to be romantically attracted by Kaidan, and if said Kaidan always but showed a very professional and / or friendly non ambiguous attitude towards your Shep, who you rather started flirting with the other?

Would you rather Kaidan or Shepard take the initiative in a fresh flirting relationship?

I agree, a stand-alone game woudl be fun to explore those two years with a different storyline for Ash and Kaidan.  Replay value as both, it could start in the 2-year voide between ME1 and ME2 and finish up after Shep & XXX meet on Horizon.  Maybe meet up with Steve and/or James fighting the collectors.

Hrm. Tough question mimi. I think with Kaidan, I'd rather he start. Maybe. Nah, I'd rather Shep start. I think. Well, maybe I'll go with Kaidan on this one. After seeing the convos with Jacob, I think it's best not to leave this stuff up to Shep.

Tough choice. I guess I don't care either way.

I was actually talking more about some spinn-off with a separate independant hero, but respecting both ME1 and ME2 imports. That would cover not only Kaidan's story, but how the world was going, and with squad involved. Sounds too good - I know, but a woman can dream... :)
