Just out of curiosity, and I apologise if this has already been discussed, but does anyone else get the feeling that Kaidan and Shepard knew each other before the game commenced?

Just the way that Kaidan speaks to her during one part of the mission - punching the assistance out - it just dawns on me that when Kaidan says 'That may have been a little extreme Commander... ' it's not the kind of thing just anyone would say to a superior without a chastising remark in return, not unless they knew each other fairly well anyway.

I get the impression that - especially if they're a biotic - Shepard and Kaidan have met before on joint exercises or biotics training. I don't know, but I think they have worked together professionally before the Normandy shakedown run. What do you guys think?

Heya.

I don't think it's that they knew each other before (even though I imagine that in some of my playthroughs) but more to do with the role that Kaidan has on the Normandy. He's Staff Lt., which is why if Shepard says only he and Kaidan will handle things, after meeting Ashley, Kaidan speaks up encouraging his commander to allow her to join them. As a Staff Lt. Kaidan is responsible for those immediately below him and he handles things so that the higher ups can focus on more command decisions instead of all the little every day things. So Shepard listening to the advice of the one who leads those below them is the smart thing to do. I do believe they have been on the ship for a while and if I had to guess Kaidan was as shocked by Shepard punching out the assistant as the two ladies. He, Kaidan, won't hesitate to give you an earful if you give him the chance. That's the fun that is Kaidan.

Is now an awesome time to point out my Bro!Shepard's middle name is Malcolm, and he is indeed based off Malcolm Reynolds? My Fem!Shep is his parralell based on a mix of Jayne and Zoe, Zoe's level-headed ness and Jayne's bloodlust and love of fine weaponry (and biotcs).

You'll have to resize it down to under about 350px height.  The forum has a limit on sig sizes, and it shrinks anything over that.
