I too am cautiously optimistic about the new DLC stuff and new game, however its bioware and they could do terrible things but I will still support them because I love them<3<3
I wonder if they would have "retired" if SWTOR had be a huge sucess and ME3 didn't have a sucky depressing ending...
Anyway, I'll support them if the product is worthy of support. Even with it's faults I still like most of ME3 and still love the ME universe. I hope Omega is a great DLC maybe they'll finally talk MS into increasing the 2GB limit. I'm not as big a DA fan, but I did enjoy DA:O and bought DA2 on Origin "Labor Day" sale. I'll give it a try "soon". I loved KOTOR but couldn't really get into SWTOR after level cap, I'm sick of grear-treadmill MMOs. I'll probably play again after it goes F2P to try the other class stories.
I'm interested to see where they take Mass Effect in the next game... but I worry it's just going to be a FPS "ME: The Reaper War" Batlefield type game.

I don't like MMOs so I never got into SWTOR, and ME3 someone told me, ME3 is about the journey and not the ending so looking at it that way...it hurts less

I'm sure very few of the current ME fans would buy a FPS, but there are FPS fans out there. I fear they're leaving us for them.
Well, with Casey at the helm of the next game I'm a little worried. He/they, were cool with thowing the entire Mass Effect universe and all the characters we grew to love (and hate) under the bus in the ending of ME3 so excuse me for being a little ambivalent.
Let's just say I won't be so caviler with my heart next time. Once burned twice as shy kind of thing.

If they left us for the FPS I fear that would be due to EA not bioware.
Wasn't Casey at the helm for mass effect in general? Also what I thought the reason why we didn't get the ending we wanted/deserved was because it was leaked and then they got rushed (by EA) to finish it....is that untrue?
yeah while I shall remain faithful to bioware I'm also cautious to see what happens with ME and bioware in general.

Oh, right. The ending. If ME4 were to follow ME3 chronologically, we would see green, shiny patterns on Kaidan. Synthesis for everybody!

If they did an ME4 I don't tihnk it would be a continuation of ME3 because developing for that would be a PR nightmare since if they did force upon synthesis for us the out cry would be a thousand times worse than it was for the ending.

I do fear what EA will do/force out of Bioware now with the Doctors gone.
Yes,.Casey was with Mass Effect from the start. It's not that I have a hate on him or anything, I know some here who did/do. I guess the real question is, "Will it still feel like a Mass Effect game without the characters I love?"
It was partly time but the endings would have been pretty much what we saw in the leaks.
Like I said, I'll be hopeful but will be more cautious of future BW games. Gone are the days when I'd squeel about the next BW game and pre-order with glee.

I'm not so worried about Casey as I am about Mac. Casey just has nebulous ideas and guidelines. It was Mac's job to fill in the details, and he is unquestionably the worst writer on the team (I have no idea how he became lead writer). His dialogue is consistently terrible (every time you cringe in Arrival, on Earth or Mars or up to the Council meeting, with Hackett or Anderson or TIM, not to mention the horrible plot and abysmal ending—that's all Mac).Kunari801 wrote...

If Mac continues on as lead writer for the next game, I will not be able to buy that game at anything more than bargain price.
To be frank, though, the last sentence from Aaryn really just makes it sound like they're spinning the tires at this point. The ME franchise is just going to spit out some derivative content to fill in the space between now and their all-new IP.
I'm a huge DA fan, though, so as long as that team remains relatively inviolate, I'll always be there to pick up their new games. Although I was really hoping that Aaryn moving into a leadership role would have had them focusing on creating a new engine in-house.

I bet they go back and the first contact war or something. They can't do something after ME3 because they keep insisting there is no canon and to make a true ME4 they'd have to make a canon. And you're right Beep, no one would buy an FPS ME. At least not out of the regular Bioware fans.
Prequels always feel anti-climatic to me. Though I suspect you're right and that still means no Kaidan, Garrus, Liara, Joker, etc. We'd probably get Anderson and/or Hackett in a First Contact war game... But it feels "meh" to me.
I can see some ways to make a ME4 post ending, that'd have some changes depending on the RBG choice, but I doubt they'd do it. I partly think they ended ME3 as they did so they could start with a clean slate.

you are 110% correct the real question is:
"Will it still feel like a Mass Effect game without the characters I love?" and if they do make it the same ME game that you love even though th characters are not in it; that would be an amazing achievement for BioWare and honestly I do think they have it in them.
I still squeel about the next BW game and pre-order with glee but I never got SWTOR and I enjoyed all the endings so for me they turly haven't done anything bad....yet and I say that yet with a heavy heart.

That is false. The ending from the leak last year was nearly identical to the one we got, and documents in Final Hours reveal that the plan for the ending was created well in advance.Jackie09 wrote...

The execution may have been sloppy due to time constraints, but we essentially received exactly what they intended to deliver.
In particular, I'm not sure why everybody always talks about the First Contact war.Kunari801 wrote...

Wasn't it like two battles over a relatively short period of time? What point would there be to a game about a relatively minor skirmish?

My faith in BW has been shaken, no not by DA2 or SWTOR, but by ME3. I have issues with most of the plot holes of ME3 (from the start of the game) but I can forgive most of them for the enjoyable ride that was my first PT, well, up to the final 10min at least. Unlike you, I did NOT enjoy the endings and that's a wound that will not ever fully heal. It's also a woud that no amount of DLC (the EC) could have fixed.
I hope they can pull off a great new Mass Effect game. I can "forgive" them for ME3 endings, and the EC helps with that, but I can't forget. BW was the last game company I had blind trust in, but now that's gone, I will judge each new game as it comes and hold my purchase now until it's released. It's the same policy I have with other game companies now.

So how much is EA going to screw over BW now I wonder. Is the glory days of BW's epic SP RPGs over? Is Mass Effect goign to turn into a FPS game?
What do you mean?
...
It has already happened.
It had already started with ME2.
I'm really sorry for being the pessimistic type, but when I read that they have plans for a brand-new ME game in the future, I can't help but shiver...
So my apologies to all for the negative vibes, after all, Leviathan did proove me wrong.
My current stand is that I'm happy with the last of Kaidan, I won't wait any longer for extra content.
Of course, I will be on the lookout for extra news, cause obviously, I'm still here, but I'm actually lingering for the love of Kaidan and Kaidanites mainly, i don't have expectations anymore.
Right now, I feel free to take ME back, and Kaidan too, in the process.

Same reason we got to "take back Earth" in ME3?
Human centrism?
Oh wait. Actually we DIDN'T take Earth back.
