So, random question. Do you think the any of the devs are actually married/partnered successfully? Because they don't really come off as actually knowing how real relationships work or is this my overactive imagination? Again.
I know Patrick Weekes at least is married, and I believe his wife also works at Bioware. I agree with KawaiiKatie that it's not fair to judge the Bioware writers' real life relationships on what they think a good fictional relationship is like.
I'll be the first to say that I do love well-done angst and drama in a relationship. Carth and femRevan? Can't get enough of it! I'm also probably one of the few people here who actually liked the ending of DA:O and that there was no easy way out for Alistair and the Warden. The heartbreak there really tugs on my heartstrings. But I liked Kaidan's romance in ME1 too, precisely because it seemed so normal. Sure, the "stuff" is hitting the fan all around them, but looking at just the development of the relationship itself, they're the kind of couple that could be very much like you, or somebody you know. Well, until Bioware had to go throw a monkey wrench in all that with Horizon and the whole Lazarus Project thing

Oh, and on the subject of height differences, I'm 5' 5" (rounding up) and my boyfriend is 6'. I think it's a good height difference. Enough that I can wear heels when I feel like getting dressed up without making myself taller than him, but not so much that it makes things awkward. I think you can imagine the height difference between Shep and Kaidan to be whatever you want... it's hard to tell from the in-game models, and anyway, the reason those models are the height they are have very little to do with establishing a height difference and a lot more to do with convenience in animation.
