Hello everybody, I need a little help. I want to continue the relationship with Kaidan in ME3 but I forgot to buy that stupid bottle >< I romanced Kaidan in ME1, didn't have any relationships in ME2 and I always choose paragon words. Can I continue a romance with him after Cerberus attack without that bottle?

yep. there's no difference really except for some additional dialogue during hospital scene. Just play until you get the cafe invite

So, having just finished ME3 last night and getting the breath scene, what's everyone's head canon for how Shepard and Kaidan get reunited? Because that goodbye was painful.

Eeeh, I kinda head-canon Kaidan bursting into the bridge after Hackett orders retreat and yell at him to look for Shepard and get him the hell out of there Hackett alerts remaining forces on Earth to do whatever's necessary to find Shepard on the Citadel. Ahaha.

After some time Kaidan is eventually back on Earth, and Shepard in a coma in the hospital. Kaidan spends night and day by Shepard's side. Shepard then wakes up at some point to find Kaidan sleeping in a chair next to the bed. And the rest is history

Damn straight it is xD but just as fraggleblabla headcannon sheps in critical condition and that Miranda and hackett are repairing her and stuff while the Normandy is still flying somewhere in space. When shep wakes, for me, the Normandy is still missing and shep has to come to terms in knowing she might've wiped out most of the synthetics and patiently waits for the Normandy to return and yada yada yada xD

I canoned Shepard being in a coma for a few years. Shepard was severely injured by Harbinger and then she received full blast from the Crucible which possibly damaged all the implants in her body. And all we could see was Shepard buried under rubble and taking a shallow breath.

While she sleep, Kaidan became an Admiral and he is waiting for her...

Okay, that was painful.. urgh Karpyshyn's canon...

Hello, I'm new to the ME world.  I started with ME3 a couple months ago because I heard that a Mshep and Kaidan/Steve romance was possible.  After finishing the game I just needed some more Kaidan in my life and started all over with ME1 and a modded Mshep so I could spend as much time getting to know  Kaidan before THE END.  I've now played all the way through to ME3 again and I've just managed to get Mr. Alenko back on my ship after that very awkward period when we weren't speaking to each other.  I can't tell you what a relief it is to have him staring out the window in the starboard observation lounge.  This time I'm going to savor every moment with him because our time together will end all too soon.  I have to admit, without Mshenko in ME3, I probably wouldn't have played the game.  Anyway, let's toast with some beef, bacon and beer to the best, cutest, slightly depressed, Canadian L2 biotic in the Mass Effect franchise.  And talk about a backfield in motion.

So, for  making things fresh again in my replay, I moded the game to be with the french VO's an I'm loving it. Recorded the date scene because... well, its too adorable I will just leave it here because of reasons...   (And I have to say, I'm liking the french vo's job more than mark meer's).

Awww!  Now I want to go on a date at Apollo's Cafe with a francophone.  My french is a little rusty, but "Vous et moi", isn't that a little cold and formal?  Considering that they are getting all kissy kissy?

I don't know man, I'm starting to learn french now, that was the main reason I modded the game. I just started taking classes this month, my main language is Portuguese (BR). But I really like the emotion the VOs put in this, Shepard especially. His voice is really sexy wen he does that low tones

And I like how the voice fitted my char way better than Mark Meer's voice.

 

But I guess he used "Vous et moi" at first simply for the suspense factor, judging by the expression he makes wen saying it. And remember, the sentence has to be neutral at that part because the player still has an option to refuse the romance in the next dialog, so I guess it's fitting for both cases lol

Haha, this is all kinds of weird for me I never even watched or played the dubbing in my own language. But I think it would be the same in terms of the addressing, it is also way more formal. That's one reason why I play only in English, too. They've been friends for a long time and still use the informal way?

Maybe Inquisitor_Jonah has something there.  By Shepard keeping it formal, it gives the player the option of thinking "You're way out of line mister.  I'm your superior".  Just in case the player has a moment of gay panic.  But still, like fragleblabla says, they've been friends for years.  In order to get to this point in the game Shepard and Kaidan have been friends for years.

 

 

I wonder if Shepard says "Tu" after this.  I might have to try that modded game to find out.

I'll keep you guys posted, I'm not playing right now because I have some work to finish, but wen I'm free I will finish this playtrough, I'm really enjoying the VO's (maybe not the way they pronounce "commander", but that's another story lol It's like "Komodah" or something, it's really weird )

I just finished the game, and yes, they keep using "Vous" in every conversation, even prior the final goodbye in London   It's a bit weird, but it didn't made the whole experience less emotional for me, the VO's did a really good job. I say if you guys like french (or is your native language like fraggleblabla's case), you should really give the french version a chance.

Today I give my final goodbye to Kaidan, I don't think I can bring myself to relplay this trilogy again (this is like, well, the 10th time i guess? ), but It was a good ride. And this was the Shepard I liked most, since he imported nicely trough the trilogy and the french VO fitted like a glove xD

Good to see that we germans aren't alone :-p We also have a more distant and formal way to speak with persons we don't know well or as a sign of respect ("Sie" = "Vous") and the more intimate "Du" (= "Tu"). And in the german localisation it's a total mess, it already starts in ME 1 - in the one situation they speak the formal way, and in the next they use "Du" ... just to turn back to "Sie" in the next moment. That's quite a killer of the atmosphere, also because the formal way is dominant throughout all three titles, and sometimes you think "Come on, they've gone through hell and back together and still keep this damn distance in the conversations? They act like best friends but just can't overcome this horrible 'Sie'. Meh."
I don't know how the translators work but sometimes I wish they would first play the game themselves to get a better feeling for the whole development of the stories and relationships - but yeah, I know, that would take much too long and is too costly.
In fact the translation and voice-acting in ME 1 is so horrible that I thought about switching to english ... but I have the problem that I then have to focus so much on what is said and concentrate mainly on the words that I totally lose the connection to the world around. Yeah, of course I can switch on the subtitles but they are totally distracting. I love to dive deep into this strange universe and get a part of it myself (same thing with every other RPG), and that's impossible for me if I don't play in my native language :-/ Sometimes I envy countries like Sweden - in Germany every foreign movie is dubbed, that's why we just aren't as much used to english as other countries in which they watch the originals with subtitles.

I guess it's better than not having the game localized at all. None of the mass effect games were localized here in Brazil. I guess the first bioware game to be oficially localized was DA:I and even then it was just the menus and subtittles, the audio was in English. I was playing ME3 in french because I'm learning it now, so It's a good training

That's quite interesting! First time I hear that, until now I only knew the hard rules like in our country or France - it's really important to make a difference between formal and informal.
I must admit that I barely came in touch with portuguese to date (although Portugal is not that far away :-p), it is totally irrelevant as school subject. The focus here lies on english, then french, maybe a bit italian or spanish, that's it. Oh, and for eastern germans russian played a major role, of course.
But I remember a mission in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag where you have to steal a portuguese flag - while you try to sneak onto the ship you hear the portuguese crew talk, I found it very fascinating as this language has such an unfamiliar but nice and interesting sound to me I always enjoyed listening for a couple of moments
