Kaidan = Fluff to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

edit: Not that's it's Not A Serious Romance, but it should be a happy one. I don't know. My Kaidan is the one who pulls Shepard back and lets her cry into his arms at night and is the only one she can really be herself to. And all that smooths the rough edges of my Shepard.

Yeah, I'm kind of similar. I like to have a bit of harmless fun with him in ME1, mostly just by teasing him a little during the romance scenes, but I prefer to keep it sweet overall, as well. Kaidan's somebody my Shepard can lean on and relax around. I'd say "fluffy" describes my feelings about their relationship quite well.

I've just recently discovered here on the forums that you can renegade him enough to teach him to be distrustful towards aliens if you pass persuasion checks for it and all and... I don't know... He's such a kind and pure person and I find that kind of sad...? But, on the other hand, I guess it's interesting to have the option for those who'd like to try it.

I understand that completely! What I love about kaidan he is the soft spot you can land on xD ive never actually renegade his personality because... Well I love the marshmallow that he is... I just love how he can respond to a renegade shep though so I just like their dynamic :) paragon shep tho I want to try it with my male sheploo if I can just to see the difference
xD

Cuz kaidan is one hell of a marshmallow xD and also im not too fond of changing characters drastically especially if u have to use persuasion checks on ur companions :/ though interesting dynamic and also u cn change Ashley's views on the aliens too? Though not sure if only the males had the option?

What I like about him is that he will have none of your sh*t if you're really unreasonable, doesn't matter if paragon, renegade, or neutral. That's one of the things I find cool about him throughout the whole franchise. He thinks a lot and he won't just stand there and nod. Sometimes you'd better have answers. So the option to renegade him caught me by surprise. But I guess it kind of makes sense in ME1. Shepard's somebody he respects and admires and if you keep pushing him... well, I guess I can see how it could influence him. It would probably be harder in the following games because he grows out of Shepard's influence by then, I think. But I'm not fond of the idea, as well. As you say, he's good as a, lol, "marshmallow". Okay, that's pretty cute and fitting.

No idea with Ashley. I've never heard of such an option myself.

I didn't do that even in my last Renegadey run :D But I did have a big disagreement with him on aliens. But he's just so damn reasonable!! "I thought we respect each other more than that." was his answer when I said I didn't need him to kiss the Council's ass, too. Oh wow. That totally kept my Shepard in check, she agreed very fast, hahaha. I though it was awesome, that you actually can have this disagreement, I love characters like that. Like you said, the ones that don't just support whatever you do, but question you, question your motives and decisions at times.

Yeah, I kind of feel like he's the voice of reason in the game. It's the same as when you visit the Council for the first time and Ashley's upset the Council doesn't believe us. He explains that with the evidence we have, it's natural that the Council's on Saren's side. When you think about it, he's right we didn't really give them that much. (Anderson would probably do the same for us.) Same when you talk to him about releasing/killing the rachni after Noveria. He says it wasn't really our place to decide this. It's something the Council should've dealt with, which is, imo, a good point. He's, on the other hand, also the one who thinks that the Council is sitting with their hands in their laps way too much and it upsets him, he brings it up while talking to you. He has a bunch of moments like this throughout the games and it's something I really enjoy about the character. It's one of the reasons I like this one line Shepard can give Ashley: "When I want an opinion from the head, I go to Alenko. When I want one from the heart, I go to you." He's not always right, of course, but he's, as you've said, "so damn reasonable". Sometimes makes me think about things I normally probably wouldn't.

Oooh when does he say this? Really need to go through a proper renegade run xD where I don't go all soft on him haha... This is gonna be hard >.<

He really is! He's the good cop to ur routine and he truly is ur stabilizing element... Though I've seen this line somewhere when does ash say it?

Ugh, I don't wanna lie to you, I don't remember exactly when it was, but I think it's when you can ask more about Rhana, but instead ask more about Vyrnnus, telling Kaidan he got what he deserved. I'm not sure if it's the same conversation, but I believe it was :)

Also I don't remember if these were the Renegade options or the neutral ones, I mixed it up a bit with her.

Just roll a FemShep with Colonist and Torfan background, with a good mistrust of aliens. You can stay wonderful in character with these options, but also keep Kaidan all sweet on you because he's the voice of reason, hehe.

Actually my canon shep was colonist torfan :3 she's renegade like all hell.. But when it comes to kaidan she's nicer xD though I did do almost all renegade options but when it comes to talking to rahna I still prefer talking bot her instead of pushing about vrynnus plus the way Shepard says he is round tighter than a clock was funny as hell to me xD

I've checked because I couldn't remember and it happens during the dialogue where she confesses that her grandpa was the commander who surrendered at Shanxi and that her family is therefore blacklisted in the Alliance. At the end of the conversation when she asks you whether you'll throw her off the ship because of it, you have to pick "We need you," and Shepard gives her the line.

You know, if you don't fancy playing another character, you can sometimes just experiment with the dialogue options and then reload the game. That's what I do sometimes before I get to playing another character. I do think giving another Shepard a shot could be an interesting experience. Think of it as a big experiment. And if that doesn't make you happy, run two simultaneously and return to your favourite whenever you need it.  :P

Hey, I can't blame you. I'm guilty of replaying the same character, as well. I've somehow grown very attached to her and her story, including her romance. On the other hand, I'm curious about the other content. I'm currently planning a Spacer/War Hero femShep that will probably start as a paragon that's not used to not being successful and I might "degrade" her over the course of the franchise to become more renegade. I might refrain from using persuasion/intimidation with her just to see what happens. She'll be an Adept and will romance Liara. I already know I want to try killing the Rachni Queen with her. Both times. And I want to recruit Legion really early this time. She'll keep Kaidan as a bro. I'm really curious about his friendly interactions. I've never played with him unromanced before.

IKR? Sounds like an interesting playthrough! Goodluck XD and Kaidan as a bro seems like a fun way to go be careful though his soft brown eyes might lure you back to him >.< Have you ever tried a paragon femshep to everyone except to her own crew? I actually want to make a male character, im considering him to be the oldest Jared Shepard, to be the type of guy mindoir/ war hero who is very kind to civilians and ppl but to his own crew snaps easily and is very critical and will be ruthless in doing what needs to be done like killng the rachni, shooting wrex, not trusting tali, killing the colonist on feros, and killing balak... though the only thing keeping me from playing i guess is hes a dude? XD but i cnt make another femshep the role is already filled >.< Goodluck to us both though and hey as you said we can always go back to our canon sheps... we might appreciate them more after this run through XD

I did that all the time! :D With what now became my canon FemShep I needed to see which options truly fit her as I don't know by heart yet what all the options truly say. There would have been some funny moments if I hadn't.

Like the time I picked the wrong option with the Reaper on Rannoch... telling it synthetics and organics can co-exist when I already had planned to side with the quarians, pft. But I couldn't really reload as I was recording my playthrough right then. Total derp moment

What was also really interesting, and I would highly recommend it (even though I know it would break both of your hearts :D), romance Kaidan, then save him because of feelings and not what the best mission-based choice is on Virmire, and then break up with him in ME3 because you don't want this situation to ever happen again. I swear, their dialogue at the FOB was amazing under these circumstances. Both pause a lot in between, like some unspoken words were hanging in the air between them. And both their VAs do an amazing job with this. It was like a complete different atmosphere with an ex-romanced Kaidan. I really loved this somehow.

I haven't, in fact. It's hard to be mean to the companions, but I'll see what I can do with my new femShep. I mean, my current Shepard doesn't exactly coddle them, she speaks her mind, she has none of Garrus' renegadish crap, but I rarely go for the renegade dialogue options with her while talking to them. I want to make a manShep eventually, but I don't have any actual plans for him so far except for making him Earthborn/Ruthless and possibly an Inflitrator. (I want to eventually try all the classes. I guess I'll spread it among these three characters or something.) One of the reasons for going femShep again is because I wanted to hear renegade femShep and I also wanted to romance Liara, but romancing her with manShep feels... I don't know. I just prefer Liara with femShep. She'll be exclusively into girls, so I'll just try to keep that in mind while talking to Kaidan.  :D But I guess at this point, I got used to my favShep so much that it would feel like cheating anyway.

Just the normal friendship path dialogue I would assume (if you don't know it, let me know, I can link my video if interested), but with the previous romance arc it seemed so damn intense. I don't know! It made me a tad emotional, haha.

I really wanna try a be a b*tch to your crew Shep at some point, too. One that values her being in command and who doesn't take crap from anyone on the ship (especially not Vega. This should be fun :D)

How dare you hurt me so? Just reading this makes me so sad.

I really love the dialogue between them when in romance. The way femShep says, "When this is over, I'm gonna be waiting for you. You'd better show up," and her voice shakes like she's about to cry. And if you pay attention to Kaidan's voice, it also seems to be breaking at times. ("We know this is a goodbye--") The voice actors just put so much emotion into it. I remember going through it for the first time and I was holding up fairly well but then I started talking to Kaidan and I just fell apart because you have these goddamn two people that finally managed to find their way back to each other and you can see how deep their feelings are and how they're so afraid to lose each other again. My heart. The one that made the cutscene also did an amazing job. The way Kaidan suddenly pulls Shepard in for a kiss and when he later looks away as if he didn't want you to see him cry... Can't handle the FEELS.

I remember some interview with Jennifer Hale and she said that recording the London lines was really hard for her and that at times she really wanted to cry but couldn't because "Shepard doesn't cry".  But I can hear it in there, Mrs Hale! And it destroyed me emotionally.  :D

I don't know if I'll ever be able to do what you suggested, fraggle. It does sound interesting BUT THE PAIN.

Hehe, I was Renegadey to James to during the sparring and never took a Paragon interrupt too. I loved it. The atmosphere it created was truly amazing. First, you let him know you're still the boss to show him he has to follow his orders because he was reluctant to follow them twice up to this point, then you hit him in the face and he acknowledges you did well (his little "Nice." gets me every time! So good). Then of course telling him that you think he doesn't care whether he lives or dies. Argh, all this tension, I almost can't take it! And then the tension is gone afterwards, they've cleared the air and Lola is the start of a wonderful relationship between these two. Just thinking about it makes me all happy

I always cry during his and Garrus's conversation. It's so well done :crying:

Thank you!!! Also it really sucks how they didnt make james an LI i mean most of shep's lieutenants she can get on except for james >.< but im actually happy we haz Kaidan but variety would be welcome!!! also I do love sparring with James especially throwing him on his ass... Have you seen his height??? and his body? Jesus i hope shep didnt break an arm throwing him down o,o

I just... uhh... like the idea of a guy with a sniper rifle, I guess.  Sniper rifles are sexeh.  <3

Yes! ASSAULT RIFLES! That's one of the reasons I haven't been able to try any other class yet. I'm so in love with biotics and everything (and that's why I drag Kaidan pretty much everywhere), but I'm obsessed with assault rifles. Mattock being my absolute favourite. Plus, I really like I can be armed to the teeth while being a Soldier.

I'm so happy Kaidan can wield one in ME3. I love to give him the Saber. That gun packs a hell of a punch and it's freaking huge...
