I just... uhh... like the idea of a guy with a sniper rifle, I guess.  Sniper rifles are sexeh.  <3

Yes! ASSAULT RIFLES! That's one of the reasons I haven't been able to try any other class yet. I'm so in love with biotics and everything (and that's why I drag Kaidan pretty much everywhere), but I'm obsessed with assault rifles. Mattock being my absolute favourite. Plus, I really like I can be armed to the teeth while being a Soldier.

I'm so happy Kaidan can wield one in ME3. I love to give him the Saber. That gun packs a hell of a punch and it's freaking huge...

<3

Oh God he is hella fine wielding that.... Just damn... though the first time i saw him wielding an assault rifle in ME2 kinda confused me XD even though i played it first but after going around with him everywhere in ME1 with only a pistol just wondered Sweetheart what are you using??? you dont know how to use that stop XD use ur a biotics or at the very least a pistol!!! XD pls tell me im not the only one who thought this?

The convo is actually fairly similar to romanced Kaidan. Not the same, of course, but similar. They're kind of awkward and sad a lot of the time. In the romanced dialogue, to me it feels as if Shepard doesn't want to leave but she doesn't really know what to say, either. Shepard's really bad with expressing her feelings. I mean, it takes her the whole franchise to say "I love you," in this particular romance and that happens during the bed scene right before Cerberus HQ. That's probably the most insane build up to a confession I've seen in my entire life.  :D I love it. So the way she gets totally awkward with him in London like she wants to say many things but nothing's coming out and they fumble a bit... It's sweet and painful.

Thank you for the link! That was pretty interesting to see.

I... err... probably didn't notice that because he sometimes uses assault rifles even in cutscenes in ME1 (like on Therum).

The game can't freaking decide what's right or wrong. I mean, you can see Tali wielding both assault rifles and submachine guns in ME2 while she can use neither. In ME3, you can even see her with a sniper rifle in one of the cutscenes.

And the first time, I was probably too distracted by Kaidan finally being there to notice what he was actually holding.

I do wish he used his biotics on the seeker swarm or to shield himself, though. Because, I mean, come on, who in their right mind would shoot at a swarm of insects? What's the chance of success? The best you could hope for like this would be to attract their attention while the colonists fled... if those idiots didn't stand around and stare. I still think that given Kaidan's past and training, using his biotics would be pretty much a reflex in such a situation. But this doesn't really surprise me. It wouldn't be the first time or last time BioWare forgot he's a Sentinel...  <_<

Actually thats what i guess really like about the relationship is that despite knowing their feelings for one another they dont need to express it in words and just by their actions alone makes it all the more sweeeter.... and that it took sooo long for shep too say it XD though im actually planning for Ezner to put it on hold for till the beam run for maximum feelz! plus i do want to try the renegade options on that scene... but still the moment on the normandy before cerberus when u tell him you love him was the best damn romance scene for me in ME3 XD

Gawd yes most of the time the cutscenes are just there for rule of cool... I mean most of ME3 shepard has been just standing and staring... Exceedingly frustrating when your shep is a biotic and forgets she/he has them ==.==

Yes, I love it, as well. They don't need to state so for you to know they have feelings for each other because it's just there. The chemistry between them is one of my favourite things. On the other hand, I find it really interesting as regards Kaidan's character development. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but he has a lot of trouble saying "I love you," in ME1. He would say anything else to sneakily express his feelings but that. Even though you know very well he feels that way and he even pretty much slips and half-confesses once. After Shepard dies, however, he never stops saying "I love you." It's like he's decided to take his chance whenever he can. I mean, I could easily count at least six instances of him saying it just in ME3 like it's the most natural thing ever. As if he learnt from his "mistake" when Shepard died.

Ugh, it's not just biotic Shepards, to be honest. I don't know how many times I yelled at the screen because I wanted my Shepard to shoot or do something, anything, while she was just standing and staring like an idiot... Because cutscenes.

Yeah, that's true, I just found it interesting that it can get a whole new meaning. I was surprised myself I felt that way as I was the one breaking up with him. That fascinated me and showed me again how different you can interpret or perceive scenes based on your own feelings or what exactly you did earlier. I love BWs character writing. Damn :)

I've romanced Kaidan with MShep and this scene was also very sweet.

And now I really need to start a FemShep solely for him soon, too. I'll give him what he deserves :D

@Flaine: Yeah, a romance with James would've been welcomed. Vanilka and I actually already talked about it quite a bit :)

I would have been very much in favour for this to be a very slowly built up romance with no sex scene, only a tiny acknowledgement that he has feelings for Shepard, but struggles a lot with it whether he should listen to his heart or not. It could've been really great and still incorporate James's character traits like respecting regs too much, his own shyness etc. I would've loved to see all that in the game instead of inside my head

Also it would've just made sense since FemShep could end up with no straight romance at all.

awwww i didnt see it like that till now! cannon accepted! also love that talk after jacobs mission where he refers to abandoning you it just shows how much it still lingers on his mind... he mustve felt like **** again when shep had to leave him for the beam run :(....

also yessss shep looked so idiotic in ME3 especially and most evidently with Kai leng... God I know bioware wanted him to be this bad ass space ninja but i wish he used his cloaking or ninja skills better because he is sooo easy to kill and it annoys me we cant because of a damned cutscene >.<

I know! When I arrived on Horizon for the first time and he was like, "How could you put me through this?! I loved you!" It was the very first legit confession he'd ever given her and IT WAS IN THE PAST TENSE. I freaking cried. And I didn't even have the dialogue options to say anything proper because Shepard's dialogue is such a goddamn trainwreck.

Shepard going for the beam run and telling him to evacuate must have been the destruction of the Normandy all over again for him. "Kaidan, go! Now!" And last time Shepard did such a thing, she died...

annnnnd this may also be the first time shepard can say i love you to kaidan.... great just made myself feel bad... im gonna cry over there... in my sad saaaad bunker....

Horizon was a train wreck XD not because Kaidan shouts at you because most of the time shepards replies were full of derp moments... I dont even think you mention that you died? i mean cmon shep isnt that kinda important?

I actually really like that Kaidan keeps his priorities straight. I like his part of the Horizon dialogue. Not that it couldn't be improved here and there, but I generally like most of it. It's Shepard's part that sucks. You can tell him you weren't concious before Cerberus helped you recover (The "I wasn't even conscious!" dialogue option.) or something like that (She doesn't exactly say she was dead or what happened.) and that's the best you can get. Somebody half-assed Shepard's dialogue really bad. She barely has any emotional reaction to meeting him or anything he says, she barely puts any effort in explaining herself, and that drives me totally mad. He was almost abducted! Shepard, this is the person you fell in love with in ME1, remember? Funny how you can tell Kelly afterwards, "He's an incredible man. It was hard to see him go. :crying: " WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL HIM??? ANYTHING???

It could've been amazing, but this is really the only time she actually refers to her being dead iirc (please correct me if I'm wrong)? And that's a bit sad. I would've liked the option to have her think about that stuff a bit more and not come up with only this.

Aside from thane mentioning it XD i dont remember anyone else... oh wait i Bailey mentions it i think... the first time you talk to him u have the option to tell him you want to stay low and he says something along the lines of but the people you care about would want to hear from you and stuff XD though kinda heartbroken, like you, that shep doesnt have any feelings about dying... I mean i actually headcannon my Ezner having mini panic attacks whenever she has to cross the shuttle pod and gets a bit antsy whenever the normandy doesnt run smoothly because in game shepard is kinda like a robot >.<

There's this one line you can give Joker. He says something along the lines of "How bad can it be?" about working with Cerberus and Shepard says something like, "Hopefully not much. I was dead." They merely use it as a running joke and that's about it. Disappointing.

EDIT: Garrus mentions how killing Shepard only pissed her off.

its quite sad that they make sheps death a running punchline >.> though i wish they could save the dying for ME3? i mean it actually lessens the impact of dying in ME3 knowing shep died once already... Though they would have to rewrite everything in ME2 <.<

If it were up to me, I would not kill Shepard in ME2. Especially not if I wasn't going to deal with it throughout the franchise. This concept has so much potential and ME2 threw it out of the window. I'm kind of torn between liking the drama of losing two years of her life and becoming a super soldier, and hating how poorly executed it is in general - the way Shepard dies, the way Shepard's body somehow survives atmospheric entry and hitting a planet, Ceberus' reasons to resurrect her, her staying with Cerberus without questioning it overmuch (I would at least leak Cerberus info and research to the Alliance if possible.), the way her death is constantly brushed off, etc.

It would overall be better, in my opinion, if, between ME1 and ME2, Shepard worked her ass off to find a way to fight the Reapers, but mostly unsuccessfully and increasingly desperate, the Council and most people would gradually stop believing that the Reapers are a threat or a thing at all and only ever sent Shepard after random groups of geth and sometimes those mysteriously abandoned colonies, which might eventually lead her and some of her crew to make a deal with Cerberus. Well, that would be one of many ways to handle it.

But, as you say, you'd have to rewrite some parts of the third game for it, too.

Yeah ur theory is better though if this was the case i cant see shep leaving the alliance no matter how douchebaggy they are... but still which that shep was in a coma because the way shep fell to alchera shep shouldnt have survived that at all... I mean sheps body shouldve disintegrated or burned out like damn....

I agree. Making Shepard cooperate with Cerberus is kind of... forced no matter how you look at it. Well, at least for some Shepards. I couldn't see my Shepard doing it, as well. Not after ME1, not after Akuze. It could be cool if you could pick a side - work with the Alliance/Council but it would be more difficult or something, or work with Cerberus and have more benefits. It could be interesting but also probably incredibly expensive to make properly.

Yeah XD getting to choose between the alliance and cerberus would be one hell of a concept though.... but too much resources too be spent ):... though i do like the dying for the drama but if you apply logic to it it hurts to think about >.< actually another poster wrote that it was better if shep just died floating near the planet since it would make more sense then shep falling into the planet... I don't understand why the helmet was there either way. Didn't they say that the helmet was what kept Shepard's brain intact? Did they remove the helmet from what was left of Shepard when they found her and just throw it on the ground??? That makes no sense. I remember when I found it on Alchera and was really creeped out by it because what if a piece of "me" was still in there?  :?

I actually just headcannon it that while shep was falling she use idk stasis? too keep her body intact though it only works for a biotic shep :( as for a soldier or engineer.... Miracle of God?

ME2 was filled with a lot of inconsistencies that at times I just ignore its flaws (particularly with the DLCs). I know everyone love the game but boy it was riddled with a lot of plot-holes... and whenever I get this feeling, I write fanfiction and fill in with headcanons.

Since Normandy was destroyed a month after the final scene in ME1, I headcanoned that it happens several months after Saren was defeated. This answers to why the Presidium were cleared up and look pretty and during this period, Shepard and Kaidan continued their relationship in secret. As officers, I don't think anyone have a problem with them having a relationship but it was problematic since they're both still attached to the Normandy. One of them still need to leave before they got into more trouble. I think Kaidan was prepared to do so and obviously they had plans for their future before they were ripped apart by heartless writers who don't give a crap about them.

In ME2, I reasoned enough that Kaidan's absence didn't bother me much, he doesn't need to be in the story to make his presence felt. During the Normandy destruction scene, we get to see the last time Kaidan made a decision to abandon her to save the rest of the crew and that was the last time he saw her alive. We don't actually know what happened in the two years while he was mourning except that he became Anderson's right-hand man, I think he part-time as an instructor and he was already running spec ops with his biotic teams before they made it official and gave him a proper division. And Joker hate him. That last bit was mind-boggling until I realized that Joker had a crush on Shepard and everything made perfect sense.

And then the interesting bits with The Illusive Man/Shepard/Kaidan dynamic. TIM did constantly threatened Kaidan's life to control and manipulate Shepard. Imagine if Shepard was too late and Kaidan was taken, he could have died at the Collector Ship or she could have watch him die at the Collector Base. I wouldn't hold it against her to want to stay away from Kaidan to keep him safe and I think he realize that much later. That's why he pursued her rather than she pursuing him back.

I wished there's an alternate scene where TIM would threaten to kill Joker and Chakwas if Shepard refused to work with them. But I guess it would ruin the "Cerberus is harmless" vibe he was trying to sell.
