While I don't require serious discussion all the time....

I whole-heartedly approve of the above message.

Sorry, can't hear you over the sound of exploiting Kaidan for his hotness.

<3 Thank you, I'm glad you liked. One day I actually want to explore writing a bit of Kaidan.

No thought police are required here. :police: If you don't like the people in the thread, move on. Personally, I think Kaidan might just have a sense of humor over all our fangirl and fanboy squeeing and not take all of it so seriously.

I just feel that complaining about the first ten pages of the threads when we're on page 276 is pointless. Why complain when it's over and done with?

Nothing bad with admiring artwork of Kaidan (whether drawn or photo manipulation) -- he is hot.

We do have serious discussions from time to time, but it usually ends up involving Horizon.  There's literally nothing that we can talk about because the ME3 devs has everything locked down so tight that it feels like Kaidan's not in the game at times! It seems all they ever do is show Garrus and Liara as the other squadmates in the demo/gameplay videos. (I wouldn't mind seeing other characters too, but the fact that they aren't makes me feel like they aren't "done".)

The only thing I can think that may be related to ME3-- The trial takes place in a city where Kaidan's parents quite possibly be living there right now and ... his first meeting with Shepard. Though, it's mostly spectulation. :(

We do. I think we've discussed this on numerous occasions.

I can say with certainty that if we talked more about his mind and less about how f*ckable he is, I'd lurk less. I mean, we'd probably be pretty disgusted if the roles were reversed, and this was a group of Neanderthals going apesh*t over a hot female character.

I don't personally care for shirtless pics.  I don't even care for "sexy" pics of clothed men, to be honest.  But, I'm not going to knock the people who do enjoy that stuff, and post in this thread, because it's not hurting anybody, and while I would appreciate more discussion of Kaidan's character, right now, there isn't much to discuss other than Horizon and wild speculation about what could happen in ME3.

Anyway, I really enjoyed your drabble, Bekkael, I hope you write more ME stuff.

He'd probably be flattered senseless... Then he'd clear his throat, say, "Carry on" and walk away.

Oh, yes, Kaidan has such a big sexy mind! And I love him for it. <3

And now I'm imagining Kaidan trying to dislodge femShep's lips from his neck, while Frontalot's Just Once plays in the background...

I appreciate the entire package, tyvm, but it's a little hard to find fanart of his mind/brain. And I wasn't even here for the first ten pages, but I don't see why anyone should post hateful things about how others choose to express their fan love. It would be far more respectful to state what you enjoy about the particular character and leave the childish intolerance of other peoples hopes and opinions out of the equation.

EDIT: Thank you, Teen. I enjoy the character of Kaidan very much. He's incredibly deep and complex, and (I think) a huge challenge to try to write. :)

Considering how easily he nearly blushes when trying to watch his mouth around you in ME1?

I doubt it.  Then again, that's my take.  To me, he seems to be a pretty modest guy.  *shrugs*

Slightly related, I know that Brandon Keener takes all the Garrus love like a champ, but I can't help but think that many of the VAs might be creeped out by some of the behavior exhibited by fans. :?

EDIT: Well, Bekkael, to be frank, were I more of a newbie than I am, and were I to come into this forum straight out of the gate and fresh off the farm, I'd be pretty disturbed by the ratio of "how f*ckable is this guy" vs. "how awesome is this character" talk.

I mean there is only so many things we can talk about with what we got in ME2, and lack of what we have with ME3. Discussing the way his hair looks in the promo.... WE CAN ONLY DO IT SO MANY TIMES!!!! *explodes*

Well how about I just turn this convo in a different direction. This is a little piece of a rant I posted on my Tumblr about my love/hate relationship with Bioware.

"I went on a Bioware quest. As DAII was the only game I really played I Googled them to see other games I could try. Mass Effect came up. It was still a shooting game. To MassEffectWiki I went only to see it too had a romance system. Which I though was cool for an RPG since most of them had a set thing going on, and in these games I had nice choices. So to Youtube I went from there, and that is where I saw the glory of Kaidan Alenko.

Mass Effect:

…I was so bad at it… My husband was laughing at me the whole first mission. “You know you can equip that, right?” “Why aren’t you in cover.” “Haha, your teammates are dead!” After the second or third little side quest I finally got the hang of the game, and started to enjoy myself. I Paragoned my way to Virmire, and my husband looked at me, and said, “You know you have to kill off either Ashley, or Kaidan, right?” I stared at him… And then it got to the part… Killed off Ashley, and got it over with. Got me some Lieutenant ass before Illos, and beat the game.

Mass Effect II:

Day after I beat the first one I went to Gamestop and bought the second one. Oh. My. God. Five minuets into the game. Dead. “What the hell, Bioware!” I shouted at my TV, but I accepted it, and moved on. Wake up in the medical place, and discover, “THIS GAME HAS BULLETS!?” It threw me off, but I did get through the first stage with no problems. You find out you work for Cerberus, and yada yada, I went along with the game. I saw Tali, and Garrus, and was super happy. Joker and Chakwas were there, too. Then Horizon happened. Saw mah man again only to be called a traitor, and the dialogue choices were as ****ty as the situation.

—-Note—-

Horizon has become my #1 most ****tiest scene from a game. It beat the scene from The Legend of Dragoon where Lavitz dies. At least in LoD we get Albert to make up for it. In MEII we get a ****ty letter we can’t reply to. What the eff, Bioware.

—-End Note—-

Beat the game, and now I am waiting for MEIII… WHICH DOESN’T COME OUT TILL MARCH!"

It wasn't until all this had happened that I found this thread. And then I didn't feel so alone >.<

Hmmm... I guess it's a little like the romances in-game. Join in when the discussion feels right for you. If you feel that it's too silly for you for the moment then wait a little or add a post of something you would like to discuss. But the 10 first pages were 3 months ago... that's ancient history as far as threads goes pretty much.

Don't take it so seriously =) I'm pretty much a lurker myself and tend to join in when I feel like discussing dear old Horizon or something like that. Yes... sometimes it's a little too much for me, but this isn't my thread in the way that I tell people what they should post or not. If you think it's too much, introduce a new interesting topic. At least that keeps a better mood in-thread than posting angrily =) sometimes it's just about the tone.

Fair enough - let's have a chat about his mind. It'll be fun!

When I played the game the first time, I wasn't sure who I was going to pick as my LI...for about 20 minutes. Then came the conversation after Eden Prime, wherein he displayed both concern for his crewmates and a good grasp of politics. Sold!

I think a lot of what I like is that he's the kind of guy I'd like to date in real life. He's a closet dork (don't let the badass Marine exterior fool you); kind but willing to stand up for himself and the people he cares about; practical while still being somewhat idealistic; smart, funny, and blushes easily. In short, a pretty complex character considering how little time you actually spend talking.

It probably does look unnerving to a newcomer, but if you skip ahead it gets better.

Though, I'm really confused where the "screwable" bit came from (because I know I haven't used that phrasing myself.)

However, I will concede that the underwear discussion took a weird turn.

@widowspeak, um, I can't remember having a discussion where I talked about how f***able Kaidan was. He's smart, sexy, deep, complex, and liable to fly off the handle and overreact in certain situations. Just to name a few of the things I like about him. All part of the package. Oh yeah, and he's also a cartoon. I would never carry on about a real person like I do over fictional characters, because real versus unreal are pretty clear and defined in my mind. I'm not so sure others make a similar distinction....

Everything I post is tongue-in-cheek, with a liberal dose of humor on the side. I'm sorry if that doesn't come across to other forumites.

Bekkael, I wasn't singling you out, hon. I was merely mentioning this to you in particular because you were. . .well, "loudest" isn't the right term, but that's all my brain has right now. (Damned pregnancy brain!)

The "screwable" bit is implied by how much Naked!Kaidan pops up around here.

Well, that, and the many discussions about s/s relationships vs. o/s relationships.

EDIT: And on that note, the pregnant Kaidanite has to hit the hay.  Another symptom of creating life: You wind up sleeping A LOT.  Probably as compensation for NEVER SLEEPING AGAIN once the little critter actually arrives. *lol*

All in good fun, darling. ;)  Though, the hubs has been instructed upon penalty of sleeping on the couch for a month that he MUST pick up our pre-ordered 2 N7 Collector's Editions from GameStop, regardless if my water has broken or not. :D

this actualy.

Kaidan is a fascinating character, he's practicaly a texbook example of still waters run deep.

occasionaly discussion does turn to aspects of his personality, how he would react to certain situations, etc, but a lot of times interesting questions gets skipped in favor of - how do you prefer Kaidan in bed.

Jtav asked few pages back about playing Shepard with Kaidan's morality.  what would Kaidan do if you will.  I don' think it ever got answered and I thought it was a pretty interesting discussion to have, I mean we know Kaidan's opinions on handling the missions, you can ask him.  but if faced with the same decisions as Shepard.  what would Kaidan do?  what would he chose?

I'm actualy extremely curious how do you guys think he would handle Nirali Batia situation.  he is a paragon, but there are paragon ways to solve that situation from both angles.   is it a clear cut - lets give her body to her husband, or would he convince Samesh that she could do more good, helping alliance develop better defences against Geth?

Congrats and wow the timing on the due date.

I never thought that was implied by the Naked Kaidan pictures -- then again, I'm not very good at reading subtext (I'm a serious person who takes things literally.)

I figured that he'd have given her body to her husband -- because in this situation, the family's wishes are IMPORTANT. (And besides, that was what I chose on my first playthrough (and the other playthroughs!) without knowing the truth about the Geth.)

TOP to come later, need to find a good picture. Posted Image
