Though, I'm really confused where the "screwable" bit came from (because I know I haven't used that phrasing myself.)

However, I will concede that the underwear discussion took a weird turn.

Yeaaahhhhhh, I started that. It was meant as a conversation starter and a look into the psychology of who Kaidan is. The type of clothing we choose to wear says alot about us, and since he is always in uniform I had nothing else to pick on but his undies.

I took that top post as a trolling and posted based on that, but it seems some of you agree. I think I've unintentionally been offending people, so sorry if something I posted ticked anyone off. :?

@Tappman: thank you. :) And HOLY CRAP, GOOD LUCK!

(Had to come back from the bed to answer that one. Felt compelled. :D )

@ Bekka - its not just you, so you really shouldn't just take all the blame. you didn't start it either, the objectification of Kaidan is not a new thing and not unique to ME3 thread.

and since there seems to be no top Kaidan - here's one of my favorites - teamwork ftw.

I admit that I partially thought it was trolling too because to complain about the first ten pages = ???

Besides, I agree that the clothes do make the person! When designing my characters, I tend to think about what kind of clothing they would wear based on their personalities. (For instance, my Shepard has never worn a dress until that Kasumi incident.) It took me a long while to figure out what Kaidan would wear casually. (T-shirt and jeans seem a little too "simple" to go with.)

Okay so I am not the only one who thought that. Thank God x.x

And I agree with this. (Wasn't part of that convo... I don't think....) But the way someone dresses does show a lot about their personality. Your Shepard had never worn a dress while mine wishes she could always wear one.
I can see Kaidan wearing one of those plaid overshirts over a white tee and some worn out jeans. And maybe boots.

@widowspeak: Thanks. Yeah, they told me at MEPS: "Okay, your ship date is 21 Feb, and you start basic 2 March," and internally my response was actually unprintable on this forum. It's cool though, I'm excited and I'll just ****** off my family by spending the leave I get before heading to my duty station playing video games. Priorities.

OT, I'm a straight male, and I typically play straight male Shepards. Kaidan's alive in most of my playthroughs, since I romance Ash in only one, and I'd rather the import not jack up and assume I'm romancing her just because she's alive. I respect the character, since his approach to his issues is similar to mine: they're his problems, no one else's, and he'll deal with them (though I don't think he deals with them very well).

My only real criticism of him is that ending every conversation with "I don't want to sound like a whiner" is a surefire way to sound like a whiner.

Ha, I actually took that as a mythology gag about Carth.

I wasn't taking any blame for anything, just apologizing if I offended anyone. :)

I don't agree that Kaidan has been "objectified" in this thread at all.

"Sexual objectification
refers to the practice of regarding or treating another person merely as an instrument (object) towards one's sexual pleasure," Wikipedia

We talk about all sorts of things here, some funny, some more on the serious side, but it's not only sexiness. The fanart tends to be sexy, but why not? He's a romance character, and that's par for the course.

Serious questions get posted, and if others find the question or topic interesting, they'll respond. If not, they won't and the thread will move on. I fail to see a problem. ;) Not trying to argue, just stating my opinion.

wasn't that only one conversation, where he mentions his headache? I feel like I need to replay ME1 again, because I remember him only saying it once and I also took it as a nod to accusations about Carth.

that said - when conversation goes for several pages, discussing various ways of how character will be stuck in the bedroom, naked... I don't know... but I found it to be somewhat... off-putting, sorry. and don't even start me on that underwear conversation >_>

I never thought that was implied by the Naked Kaidan pictures -- then again, I'm not very good at reading subtext (I'm a serious person who takes things literally.)

Jtav asked few pages back about playing Shepard with Kaidan's morality.  what would Kaidan do if you will.  I don' think it ever got answered and I thought it was a pretty interesting discussion to have, I mean we know Kaidan's opinions on handling the missions, you can ask him.  but if faced with the same decisions as Shepard.  what would Kaidan do?  what would he chose?

I'm actualy extremely curious how do you guys think he would handle Nirali Batia situation.  he is a paragon, but
there are paragon ways to solve that situation from both angles.   is it a clear cut - lets give her body to her husband, or would he convince Samesh that she could do more good, helping alliance develop better defences against Geth?

I figured that he'd have given her body to her husband -- because in this situation, the family's wishes are IMPORTANT. (And besides, that was what I chose on my first playthrough (and the other playthroughs!) without knowing the truth about the Geth.)

TOP to come later, need to find a good picture.

you know I still have my doubts about that one.  Kaidan is very much agaisnt cutting corners.  but which ones of those choices is cutting corners?  sometimes i feel like keeping the body for study is the more expedient solution and he wouldn't take it becasue family wishes ARE important, but other times... Kaidan understands that sometimes you need to make tough choices.  is it justifiable in this case though?  (in case of my main Shep - I gave the body back to Samesh, but that decision is one of the few in ME along with Geth, Balak, Rachni, Shiala and collector base, make me go through pro/con thnking process every single time)

I admit I did the pro/con thing and that was when I decided on the family because ... really, there are better ways to do things. (And aren't there more than just one dead person on Eden Prime? Like, maybe someone who already had a decision to have his/her body donated in the name of science?)

I can say with certainty that if we talked more about his mind and less about how f*ckable he is, I'd lurk less. I mean, we'd probably be pretty disgusted if the roles were reversed, and this was a group of Neanderthals going apesh*t over a hot female character.

Yes, but delurking and actually posting about the things you want to talk about would steer the conversation more in the way you want it to go. There have been plenty of lulls in the conversation to start up a new topic. Occasionally those lulls are what cause more sexy fanart to be posted. So jump in more and bring up something that we can have an enlightening discussion about, instead of more about Kaidan's ass.

So I'm glad the person stood up and said something, but I also think they're taking the thread a little too seriously. Yes, we do discuss Kaidan strictly as a love interest a lot. But that's what he is. Perhaps the underwear question was just a way of us getting to know each other's tastes in men better without being off topic. :P

This thread is getting too silly.

I think Kaidan would give the body back to him, just because he has a heart. You can tell that from his character, and I think he would be able to see himself in that situation with someone someday and understand the emotions involved. As mentioned, I think the Alliance would have other bodies to observe.

I always see them both wearing something like a t-shirt and a pants/boots combo kind of like the modern military wears, only black instead of camo. Granted, this is nothing like we see in-game, but that's what's in my headcanon. (Thanks to whoever coined that term!)

My Shepard also never wears dresses. I like to imagine that K did a little spit-take when she told him about it.

It's hard for me to picture what Kaidan's 'civies' would be. The clothing that Bioware shows as the fashon norm for the future does not strike me as anything he would wear. I also don't see women wearing anything but dresses (uniforms not included obviously) and my Shepard wouldn't wear that. I'd be intersted in seeing what the humans on Earth wear, but I'm not sure if Bioware would bother to make different clothing textures for them. The closest I've seen in game, actually for what I think Kaidan might wear is T.I.M.'s outfit.

I can only imagine Kaidan and Shepard hanging out in their off-duty blues, because that's they only thing we ever see them chat in...

....besides their birthday suits, of course....

Exactly! I can't imagine that the clothing that far in the future would be anything like the clothing now (especially considering that the difference in years is the difference between now and, well, this), but none of it seems quite right. So I just roll with current fashion. Military uniforms change a little more slowly than civilian clothes, but again, an equivalent span of years ago the dress uniforms still had giant plumed hats.

And then the conversations turn into Horizon for several pages, or Kaidan's parents in Vancouver etc. I see plenty of quality discussion here. To me it seems there are some people who would complain even if there was just 1 naked pic per 100 pages because they focus way too much on what they don't like. If there's something that ain't intersting to someone, then he/she should ignore it and instead ask his/her question, raise a new topic, do something. Complaining 300 pages later is ridicuous. And everyone had some questions/topics unanswered, that's just how discussion rolls sometimes. Particulary yesterday we were jumping from topic to topic (unrelated to naked pics or anything like that) when Casey kept tweeting and I couldn't even answer everything I wanted because the thread was moving so fast with the tweets. And finally, Kaidan is a LI so why is anyone surprised and/or against LI-related discussions is beyond me.

My 2 cents.

Wow, when you put it like that...I no longer have any idea whatsoever what people will be wearing in the ME universe as "casual" wear.  I mean, to us, jeans and a t-shirt are such obvious casual wear, how could there be anything else?  But after seeing that picture, well, as I said, I have no idea.

I really hope they are still just wearing jeans and a t-shirt, as most (though not all) of the alternatives are less appealing....

Count me in as not quite liking the future clothing either. Dresses? Really now? x_x They look a little "blah" and "generic" to me. (It's also a pet peeve of mine that the clothing of the future never ever looks like that when we actually get to that "estimated" year in question!) The only dress that looked truly different was the one that Shepard wears (no thanks to Kasumi, lol XD)

Though, people may be annoyed with me for having my Shep wear a pair of converse shoes (but I'd like to point out that the shoes were first created in 1917(!) and the style is still worn to this day. Quite something for a pair of shoes that are only what, 94 years old? :P)

So, yeah, I can see bits of the past Earth fashion still in use such as Converse shoes, boots, t-shirts, jeans...

Not to mention the fact that Bioware is including the N7 hoodie as a part of the DLC so that would suggest that hoodies are definitely still worn on Earth. Maybe "Space Fashion" is different from "Earth Fashion"? (Because you do see that the Asari pretty much wear the same kind of dresses too... x_x)

To throw my thoughts into the fray-I'm mostly a lurker, just because I'm usually only able to browse once a day, when I'm playing catch-up, but I enjoy all types of our discussions here, the serious, the steamy, the silly. In fact my favorite recent discussion was about Boo the spy hamster! It's all good and in fun, but if you aren't happy with the current discussion, start one you'd like! As Ghandi said (and the words I try to live by) "Be the change you wish to see in the world." All Kaidan goodness is welcome here.
