Also, jeans were created in the 1870's, and they're still worn. I was actually thinking about that today.... I don't think jeans will ever go out of style. Except for specific styles of jeans. But that's just fashion.
Their off-duty blues look very similar to jeans anyway.

To throw my thoughts into the fray-I'm
mostly a lurker, just because I'm usually only able to browse once a
day, when I'm playing catch-up, but I enjoy all types of our discussions
here, the serious, the steamy, the silly. In fact my favorite recent
discussion was about Boo the spy hamster! It's all good and in fun, but
if you aren't happy with the current discussion, start one you'd like!
As Ghandi said (and the words I try to live by) "Be the change you wish
to see in the world." All Kaidan goodness is welcome here.

Agreed about everything!  Esp. the Gandhi quote. That's what I was trying to say. =]And Boo the spy hamster was hilarious.

Count me in as not quite liking the future clothing either. Dresses? Really now? x_x They look a little "blah" and "generic" to me. (It's also a pet peeve of mine that the clothing of the future never ever looks like that when we actually get to that "estimated" year in question!) The only dress that looked truly different was the one that Shepard wears (no thanks to Kasumi, lol XD)

Though, people may be annoyed with me for having my Shep wear a pair of converse shoes (but I'd like to point out that the shoes were first created in 1917(!) and the style is still worn to this day. Quite something for a pair of shoes that are only what, 94 years old? :P)

So, yeah, I can see bits of the past Earth fashion still in use such as Converse shoes, boots, t-shirts, jeans...

Not to mention the fact that Bioware is including the N7 hoodie as a part of the DLC so that would suggest that hoodies are definitely still worn on Earth. Maybe "Space Fashion" is different from "Earth Fashion"? (Because you do see that the Asari pretty much wear the same kind of dresses too... x_x)

Don't forget the kid from the demo is wearing a hoodie, and pretty much his whole outfit doesn't look too ridiculously futuristic.  Also, the live action trailer, a most of the actors are wearing "modern-present" clothing, like suits and whatnot.  I like to think that a lot of the more futuristic outfits we see on NPCs and whanot, are inspired more by the galactic community, and humanity is trying not to look out of place.  Those dresses could be of asari tailoring, and blah blah blah.

I'm under the impression that those Earth bound dress more traditionally, though I'm sure that fashion has evolved somewhat 100+ years from now.  Just my opinion on the whole thing.

Have some casual Kai.   I'd love for his casual wear to resemble something like the second or fourth outfit. ^_^

And then the conversations turn into Horizon for several pages, or Kaidan's parents in Vancouver etc. I see plenty of quality discussion here. To me it seems there are some people who would complain even if there was just 1 naked pic per 100 pages because they focus way too much on what they don't like. If there's something that ain't intersting to someone, then he/she should ignore it and instead ask his/her question, raise a new topic, do something. Complaining 300 pages later is ridicuous. And everyone had some questions/topics unanswered, that's just how discussion rolls sometimes. Particulary yesterday we were jumping from topic to topic (unrelated to naked pics or anything like that) when Casey kept tweeting and I couldn't even answer everything I wanted because the thread was moving so fast with the tweets. And finally, Kaidan is a LI so why is anyone surprised and/or against LI-related discussions is beyond me.

My 2 cents.

I pretty much love you. You know that, right? ;)

I love both of you. :kissing:

Right back at ya, lady! <3:D

Random thought: I wonder if Kaidan would go bald when he gets old? Too bad we can't see what his parents look like.

yes, im thinking that maybe they dont have the same materials in space as they do on Earth, so people just wear "space fashions". I like to think that they still wear jeans and converse. :)

Fashion design in SF can rarely escape much the modern fashion of the time period a movie/comic/game is created. Not to mention the fact that clothing technology progress is almost never taken into an account. I mean, clothes with MP3 players/phones already exist, even transparent clothes (based on having the material display background image). I can only imagine technology would be a big part of fashion in future, especially for tech-enthusiasts. not to mention stuff as synthetic material acting/appearing in the way that it ain't possible nowadays.

My 2 cents.

I have resorted to lurk mode, unless i find a topic that I'm actualy interested in.  and I've been around long enough to see the ebbs and flows of the threads.  but i can very much see how new poster could come in, freak out and run away screaming.  you by the way are one of the worse offenders when it comes to objectifying Kaidan.  I lurk in a lot of threads, sometimes post in them and its absolutely possible to have LI descussion that does not primarely revolve around sex, but rather, oh I don't know - interactions, conversations, etc - relationship stuff.  it happens here, too, don't get me wrong, but this thread is one of the worst when it comes to diving into the gutter on a very regular basis.  people like to complain about how Talimancers are creepy, but honestly?  outside of occasional character bashing - their ME2 and ME3 discussion threads are pretty interesting read most of the time.

P.S.  civilian clothing.  I can see Kaidan wear something comfortable, somewhat loose, in  subdued colors, made of nice breathable fabrics - clothes he can relax in.  he woudln't hesitate to wear a suit and tie if occasion called for it, but I cannot see him prefering them.  he seems too down to earth for that.

Nah, his hair is too thick/curly, lots of it. Not that I have anything against baldness. It's only when you try to hide it that I find it unattractive.

My favorite uncle is bald. That said, can't see Kaidan as bald. I can see him with a bit salt and pepper coloring though.

Well, that doesn't really matter since baldness is genetic, but seeing as it's a future world where you could probably find treatment or a cure....nevermind! :P And I agree it's bad when men try to hide it. Nothing worse than a combover.

Yeah, passed down through the mother, actually, but usually men who are going to go bald start losing their hair around Kaidan's age, and he doesn't seem to have a thinning issue, that's what I meant.

Agree, I definitely think it wouldn't be a problem 200 years from now.

I don't think he would go bald, but even if he did, it would just turn his head into a solar plate for a sex machine. (Sorry.)

I love the idea of Shep wearing Converse. If there's anything that's likely to survive into the 22nd century, it's those! I hadn't thought of the hoodie thing, but you're right. And honestly, I'd much rather have it be unrealistically close to current fashion than to go too futuristic and end up with Logan's Run.

So random thought here. Didn't Kaidan's family retire to Vancouver? Was enjoying some delicious SB coffee just now and was like..."Hmm the Reapers are going to invade Vancouver/Seattle. No more yummy coffee." Then remembered that whole Vernus speech kaidan did.

In ME there was a point made of singling out Kaidan in terms of the strength of his biotics, talking about how much more powerful the L2 implant was, and Garrus mentioning how Kaidan rivaled Assari. With all the new biotics on your crew from ME2, I hope this doesn't just disappear in ME3. I really like the thought of him being one of the (if not the) most powerful human biotics.

Ahhhhh, this was a long discussion a while ago when they were doing live Q&A.

Starts Here and goes on much more so into the next page.

Basically, the writers didn't even know about Kaidan's parents living in Vancouver. So we don't even know if they live there or if that's going to be a part of the story at all. *headdesk*

Yeah. They gave us biotics up the wazoo in ME2. I didn't like it. Kaidan is supposed to be special and rare, dammit.

Me too. We were talking a few pages back about most of the crew members getting cutscenes in which they do something badass, often as an intro, and he was one of the few who never got one. I have to wonder if that's at least a small part of some people's dislike for him - his quiet nature, master-of-none sentinel class, and the fact that we never actually SEE him biotically pound anyone may make him seem weak to some. Of course, awesome people like us can imagine it, but having that visual would help a lot, I think.

Agreed, I hope that Kaidan remains a very powerful Biotic in ME3. Maybe not as powerful as Jack or Samara/Morinth, but I still think that Kaidan should be able to completely outshine Jacob and even the "perfect" Miranda when it comes to Biotic strength.

For maleShep or for your hubby?

And no matter how many biotics they throw at us, Kaidan will always be special and rare! I just want a scene where Miranda gets all high-and-mighty (I actually lke her btw) until she realizes that Kaidan's biotics could smash her into a gooey mess.

Efffffff, that's why I love him. He and my cannon Shep are a Sentinel dream team.

But yeah, that's probably why people quesiton his badassery.
So a cut-scene of him kicking ass would be PERFECT. please, BioWare?
