Kaidan did make assumptions, but I believe at least one of them was right. (The one about Shep feeling like s/he owed something to Cerberus. My Shep just didn't think so at the time, but she realized that Kaidan was right about it.)
I certainly didn't like him jumping down Shep's throat, but I understand why he did.

Kaidan was also correct about Cerberus being behind the attack on Horizon. Maybe not in the way he thought but the Illusive Man did set up the colony for a Collector attack. Shepard not being able to fully comprehend this, without being told so by the I.Man, would understandably make him a bit anxious and suspicious. The way he acted may have been an attempt  to wake Shep up or see if Shep is really Shep. It may not have been best way, considering who Shepard is, but the emotional strain may have been too overwhelming for him to act in a more controlled and empathic way.

It seems most people don't put themselves in Ashly or Kaidans place and just decide that what they say is wrong instead of thinking how they would feel or what they would think in their place.

I think you're absolutely right here. Everyone's so used to Shep always being right that it kind of throws you for a loop to hear someone speak to him/her that way. But if you do take a minute and put yourself in K/A's place, it makes total sense. This person went to your funeral. They spent two years learning to live without you, so soon after realizing they couldn't. They had to wake up every morning and realize, all over again, that they would never again wake up next to you. And they did this under the weight of crushing guilt for not having saved you. (Even though there was nothing they could do, you know they both would beat themselves up over it.) So when you show up out of nowhere, basically saying, from their point of view, "Guess what? I'm not dead, but I am a terrorist!" it's no surprise that they would react badly. The whole thing could probably have been smoothed over if you'd just had a few hours to explain and cool off, but it was not to be.

I don't understand why people think he should always act in a controlled and empathic, nobody does. It's human to lose control sometimes. When I am stressed ot upset or confused or just angry I do not act normal and certainly not controlled and empathic. I try to think out what I say, but sometimes what i think is kinda what Kaidan says.

@silver1881 I asked my friend in Afraganistan what he would think if I should up after 2 years (supposedly dead) and working for al-Qaeda what he would think. He told me that he would want to trust me (why is thes so big...sorry), but would never until he know for sure and this is a guy I have know forever. So I kinda feel bad for Kaidan.

I also think it's a tad counterproductive to talk about Kaidan smashing Liara or Miranda into "a bloody pulp". I, for one, sure don't like it when others talk about wanting their ME2 LIs to beat up Kaidan or have a catfight with Ash.

It's certainly is but it's owned by the speaker and is a vent of possessive jealousy. Kaidan should understand this, in the case of Shep's moving on, and he shouldn't react violently or react in any way, he should think first and then act. Keeping his emotions checked, particularly after his mistake on Horizon. This is more fitting to my understanding of the character which, admittedly, isn't as throrough as most here.

Besides, both of he and Shepard will have bigger things to focus on.

I doubt he'd react violently. He isn't the type. So far I've only seen some of his fans express the wish to see him act rashly, violently, possessively or extremely jealous.

oh he loses control when the provocation is great enough. but not to a degree of bioticaly beating someone into a pulp. especially if that someone is a woman. heck even before he became the quiet thoughtful and disciplined man we meet in ME1 - in his situation with Vyrnus, he didn't enrage and beat Vyrnus up. he lashed out once in desperation, kicked to get that knife out of his face. he might raise his voice (and have on several occasions), but it would take a LOT more then a disagreement to have him assault someone physically and it would take an act of pure desperation to attack someone bioticaly outside of the battlefield. Kaidan is painfuly aware of the kind of reputation L2 biotics have. Ash has to work harder then everyone else to compensate for her family history. Kaidan has to do the same, except he's compensating for his implants rather then family history.

P.S.  his post Horizon letter was very deliberately phrased to show interest without obligating.  its something that pissed off a lot of people who romanced him, but its very much in style for him.  leave a way out.  so with Shepard who moved on, the only way I could see him express any actual anger is in case of Shepard stringing him and ME2 LI along. and even then, it would be anger quickly restrained.

I agree, Leah. I think his reaction would not be unlike the one he had during the Liara/Kaidan confrontation in ME1.

wow I come back and someone has blasted ppl for saying things sexually about Kaidan. Like he is only some sex object for us all. I've read other forums on other characters and other threads do the same thing. Besides this is fantasy and what is wrong with fantasizing about a character. I think of Kaidan as one of the most complex and interesting characters of ME. He has many layers to him. He is always struggling to control himself due to him killing that turian and him being a biotic. I actually thought Horizion was written badly for us Shephards. Even when we greet Garrus for the first time we have a YAY it's Garrus!!! When we meet Kaidan it's like...Hey Kaidan been a long time. WHAT!!!?? We should of had more options for convo. Also I kinda liked Kaidan having a little fire to him on Horizion. Showed how much he loved you. Showed a different side to him. Showed even more depth to his character and I'm looking forward to seeing how much more depth we will see in ME3. So that is my 2 cents. Sorry for such a long response.

If I understood correctly, s/he was criticising people for talking about little else except that and not for doing it at all. I encourage you to read the post again.

I don't see it as he should 'always' be controlled and empathic. I see it as he understands how dangerous he is and that he has to keep focus. He seems to know the connection between thought, speech and action. By this I mean - uncontrolled speech is an indicator of uncontrolled thought and could lead to uncontrolled action. People could get hurt or killed if he doesn't control himself. His empathy being partly what keeps him on his path of dedication and service. Sure, there may be times where he starts to lose control, as we all do, but his life experiences seem to be an solid anchor from which he intelligently reminds himself of his need for self-control and to understand others.
There is the part about Jenkins, Eden Prime and his unleashing his full power on foes but that is still focused control in my books.

Alright... After looking over the first ten pages of this thread.I feel sort of dirty...And i all have to say is:
It's seems like the only thing that people in this thread care about:

Is if Kaidan Alenko is going to be  FU*KABLE by both genders of Commander Shepard in ME 3.

Yea I read the post again and her saying it seems that the only thing you people care about is if he is ****able...making him a sex symbol to us. We do talk about other things in this thread. Reading the first ten pages doesn't give you much info on the other things we talk about.

that said - when conversation goes for several pages, discussing various ways of how character will be stuck in the bedroom, naked... I don't know... but I found it to be somewhat... off-putting, sorry. and don't even start me on that underwear conversation >_>

And then the conversations turn into Horizon for several pages, or Kaidan's parents in Vancouver etc. I see plenty of quality discussion here. To me it seems there are some people who would complain even if there was just 1 naked pic per 100 pages because they focus way too much on what they don't like. If there's something that ain't intersting to someone, then he/she should ignore it and instead ask his/her question, raise a new topic, do something. Complaining 300 pages later is ridicuous. And everyone had some questions/topics unanswered, that's just how discussion rolls sometimes. Particulary yesterday we were jumping from topic to topic (unrelated to naked pics or anything like that) when Casey kept tweeting and I couldn't even answer everything I wanted because the thread was moving so fast with the tweets. And finally, Kaidan is a LI so why is anyone surprised and/or against LI-related discussions is beyond me.

My 2 cents.

I'm just catching up and we are several page ahead of this statement, but I agree 100% with Isaac, here, in fact, thank you, Isaac, honey... you saved me the bother of composing something very similar, plus the bonus is, you did it very diplomatically.... I would've ended with ~
And seriously, some people need to chill the f*ck out, I don't know about everyone else BUT I know he isn't real, I know it's a just a game and as weird as it might sound for a gamer to say this, I have a life, I have a real life husband with working anatomy, Three children - oldest 20, middle 17 and youngest approaching 2 and half... I also know Mass Effect is just a game and... wait for it... I KNOW Kaidan isn't real........ As does everyone else here.. so join in or go start a ''Kaidan is just my buddy'', thread, mmmmkay?

Ooooh, seems like I did end it that way after all........... ah well, you can't un-say some stuff eh?!

I thought the same thing. but honestly who cares. I certianly don't{sorry spelling is awful right now} It's somthing to talk about which is better than the stuff Bioware has been giving us which is nothing at all! They are not going to give spoilers at all sadly, but people asked for that.

Anyway, I came here to share this tweet...
''RaphaelSbarge Raphael Sbarge
@
@Jenova65 Pick some cons over there and tell them you want to see him! I'll work on it from this end! -- jacqui''
Late last night Jacqui posted on Sbarge's twitter asking where fans would like to see Raphael appear at conventions, I tweeted back, not expecting anything something along the lines of Somewhere in England. Went off to bed and came back to this ^^^
Now I have to come up with a suggestion :o I really would just like to reply ''Anything in London'', because that is doable for me :P

Oh? Are we doing the quoting game, yes? Alright then. If you read the sentence closely, you may notice that it has the word "seems", implying that it's a) subjective and B) not everyone in this thread.

I don't understand what people are so up in arms about. It's as valid as any other criticism of someone who is entitled to voice his/her opinion.

Regardless if it's not everyone in this thread...I don't like when others label people they don't know. There are people here who are very, very talented. There are people here with interesting views and ideas. Just because someone assumes something about others doesn't mean it is true. I can't speak for others but myself I don't like someone labeling anyone or any group. That is what I'm mad about. People in this group don't deserve to be labeled regardless if it "seems" they only care about one thing. No I don't want to play quoting games cause I'm 33 yrs old and I have better things to do than play games. This is the last thing I will say about this.

I feel your pain.  My pregnancy is to blame for the fangirling.  I could not literally stop playing.  Baby gets here...I can have a life again (when I want).  Then, Bioware annouces not til MARCH.  As soon as the new release date was spoken in my house, the Baby Boy starts screaming, in the other room, for no reason.   Not even a toddler at that point.  :?  I'm doomed.:pinched:
