''But the prize'', is Jacob's only crime though, the real crime was Hale's dog in heat voice :P There was no need for it, she had it just right with Kaidan, soft, not pushing, it was lovely... but she really shouldn't do that cougar thing EVER AGAIN :P
Especially not in a reunion with Kaidan...........

Truthfully, the reason I didn't click with the Jacob romance was two-fold: 1) He does a great job of brushing off Shep in the beginning, and his manner of doing it stuck in my craw, and 2) Hale's voice acting in the Jacob conversations.

Actually, her syrupy tone of voice was the MAIN reason I couldn't take it. I don't know who directed her to speak like that, but, eh...it made my teeth ache.

Poor Jacob. I know he's a lovely romance for some, I just had to backload.

I need my ME1 Kaidan's personality. ;)

I just hope they don't make it an issue, a la Anders. I'm a straight
male, and I typically play straight BroSheps. As vociferously supportive
as I am of equality in-game and out, it's not something I see myself
ever doing. I'd be more than a little bothered if I had to ****** Kaidan
off in my games because I don't want to sleep with him. He's a good
friend to my Shepards, one of the few people I trust and respect without
question.

Agreed. That would be even more evil to do that with Kaidan, because he is a very mature character who would respect Shepard too much to fault him/her for not returning romantic feelings. Friendship Kaidan should be available to all, unless the player specifically triggers the romance.

Not gonna say anything about Jacob, not gonna say anything about Jacob... ah, screw it. Keeping it in will give me cancer or something.

What I liked, or rather, respected about Jacob was the traits he shared with Kaidan (and now that you mention it, Donnic). He's honest, open, and takes his convictions seriously. He doesn't make his problems anyone else's problems.

What I don't like about Jacob, and where he deviates from Kaidan, is his attitude. He views the galaxy with the kind of self-righteous idealism that most people abandon by the age of 17. He's constantly unhappy that everyone doesn't drop what they're doing and fix the universe according to his notions. He's mad that people want to live their lives and be happy instead of miring themselves in fear and anxiety. Kaidan always struck me as a practical man.

I have a Word document, where each Shepard has a section - at the top is a bullet list of class, background, paragon/renegade score in each game, and major decisions; then I have a narrative (2-3 paragraphs) of that character's "personality", approach to the crisis, and thoughts about her background, how she feels about dying and being resurrected, about Cerberus, and anything else that might be unique to that character.  Her personality and attitude are always shaped by the background events, but not always in the way one might think.

I find the narrative helps me a lot more in the mind-set to have when playing that character, and often the dialogue wheel choices to make, then just a list of decisions.  Each one of them is unique, through and through :).

@Bekkael -- I have a notebook to write down the major ME1/ME2 decisions along with notes on what each game save means. (WHY we can't label our saves in the game is beyond me.) I also list character motivations, why they went the way they did, etc. Crazy, I know! =p To be honest, this felt like a waste with Dragon Age because it's more about world state than what any character did personally. DA2 barely acknowledged my dwarf. (I could get the Mother to mention my dwarf in the chantry and then maybe hear about the dwarven king from the bartender in the prostitute house, what's it called, Blooming Rose? That's it. Nobody else cared! =p)

Edit: I had a Brosca who I viewed as a dwarven thug that just beat people up to make a living. Just a way of life. Leske had been the one with the silver tongue so therefore Brosca had no social skills to speak of other than using her fists. So I put in ZERO points in persuade. She failed every single check in the game. Every single one of them. Even Cammen turned her down when she offered to sleep with him. It was a very fun way to play. Probably one of my favorite DA:O games ever. =D

Edit 2: Err, not to forget about Kaidan in this post! Here's renegade Joan and paragon Kaidan. I love the color symbolism in this picture. Yin and yang!

Wow @ Graceyn and Gilsa. You all are so organized and on the ball with your characters.

I'm obviously the slacker role player around here... :/

EDIT: Gilsa, I LOVE that pic. Beautiful contrast.

I started a pure Renegade the other day. I already have a red/renegade warrior Hawke, but this will be my first ruthless Shepard. What did I name her? Rene, as in short for renegade. *facepalm* I fail, I know, but I've run out of decent name ideas.

@Bekkael, lol. I named mine "Joan" because it sounded more like "John" than Jane did. =p Whatever works for ya! (Since Joan is also an old fashioned name, I find myself looking up old fashioned names for alts just to keep the theme going. Jane, Judy, etc.)

I really like Jacob character. I liked how honest he was with you from the very beginning of the game. I was honestly embarrassed to talk to him cause of Hale's voice. I felt I was almost sounding like a sex phone operator.

I always felt like Shep was gas and Kaidan was the brakes. I loved how he kept you as grounded as he could. He was always a voice of reason to me. Shep is surrounded by chaos and I always saw Kaidan as his/her rock.

Also I hope their final romance scene isn't some chessy porn like situation. I hope it is classy, done with taste and shows how much the two love one another.

@Bekkael: I've started writing down what each installment of each character did after I squeezed all the ME2 romances for femShep in one save (thanks to Kaidan, I have only 2 femSheps without romances in ME1. And one of them said "I'll sooner die than admit my feelings to Lieutenant" and was granted with such ability in second game, so this save is purely for finding out if relationships with Kaidan might be started in third game). The fact that DA2 thinks that....

DA:O spoilers:

...Alistair made my Mahariel a queen. The problem is that this Warden was in romance in him but made fatal error for future relationship in situations with Goldanna and Fereldan crown, so told Morrigan to get lost and went to archdemon with Zevran, Sten and Wynne. What exactly Alistair made a queen after that, I possibly don't want to know.
..."Hero of Ferelden" part of codex indicates that my Surana stayed in Amaranthine and became a Commander of Grey. Strange thing that DA:A epiloque thinks she moved to Antiva.
... No Nathaniel for me, while he definitely survived.

/DA:O spoilers

...makes me think that import screen in ME3 might contain errors. The fact that several things in game (batarian terrorists, two rockets and kill-switch mission always gives me "spaceport was saved") aren't described in journal properly doesn't add to optimism. And my memory is that bad that I can't remember what happened at each of 24 playthroughs, so writing down to be safe than sorry is only option.

+1. I have hopes for something tender, sweet, and worthy of the all-three-games romance. Not uber smutty, but definitely more than a quick kiss and fade to black, then go right into the next part of the game. Some post-coital conversation (maybe while they snuggle under the covers?) would be appreciated too. Kaidan deserves it. (And no fracking Joker interruptions!)

DA SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ mineralica, import bugs really blow. I have weird stuff in a couple of of my ME2 saves. Thankfully, I didn't get any bad stuff in DA2. But in DA:O when I ask Alistair where our relationship is going after Landsmeet (I kept Anora on the throne when I was a mage) and he still rants that he's going to be king, and we will just have to wait and see... Ugh. That was a game wrecking bug for me. <_<

Yes! It's probably dorky, but I want pillow-talk in ME3. That was actually what I enjoyed most about the Merrill-romance in DA2--you actually get to lay in bed and talk to the person you just had sex with!

The Ashley and Kaidan romances should definitely have some sort of longer, pillow-talk-ish scene, and they should reference the ME1 pillow-talk. Kaidan should be allowed to finish his "It's been a long time since..." sentence and Ashley should have a chance to tell Shepard what she promised to tell him after Ilos.

...and Joker should stay out of it!

...unless invited, of course. :P

Remember "Shepard who takes decision like Kaidan would do it"? I have one. Her name was supposed to be Aida, so tell me about *facepalm* here. But then I've decided that the most memorable feature of Kaidan is his 'almost smile' and, picturing this smile on woman, have changed name to Mona. Another facepalm^_^

Don't know about "pillow talk", my best wish in this question is that will be good if romantic interactions wouldn't end in... scene. I mean, strange situation "talk - talk - talk - bed - no more romance progression". What it would be, pillow talk, the breakfast and stolen smiles at mess hall, reassurance words before final boss or all above  doesn't matter that much. Maybe it's a question "how romance would progress after they became a full blown couple".

Edit: just noticed. Nice mage, Chignon!

EDI pops up as things are getting steamy with Kaidan in Shep's quarters.

"JOKERISWAITINGFORYOUONTHEBRIDGE.

That was a joke."

Shepard and Kaidan: <_<

Anyway, thanks everyone for putting large notices for DA spoilers! It is much much much appreciated. =]

I agree I hope their is more than just one romance scene. I think we all deserve that due to lack of Kaidan in ME2 and I agree with you...if Joker even interupts I will kill him. Hmmm maybe tell EDI no interruptions from him!! :P

What bothers me most about the JOKER IS WAITING FOR YOU ON THE BRIDGE bit is that they reused a voice clip from the beggining of the game. It was so random and the intonation didn't match the situation.

Hello Kaidanites....I have a question for you...though I should probably begin with assuring you I am not trolling, just looking for perceptions....I adore Kaidan, he is such a sweet guy and is ALWAYS my canon survivor and I look forward to seeing him again in ME3....

My question: Why do you think Kaidan would make a good Spectre? I just personally think he maybe too Paragon to make the hard calls...what do you guys think?

I don't think he would. It's just a plot thing we'll have to put up with. Kaidan's a great biotic, a very useful squadmate but not really a Spectre.

Excellent question!
Kaidan would be an extremely capable Spectre, I think. He is a powerful biotic, psychologically stable, and has a great deal of military training and combat experience. He's dealt with rough times on his own and he was with Shepard when s/he made tough calls, so I think he would be prepared to handle the rough stuff. Not to mention everything he has been through during the two years Shepard was gone, which I'm assuming we'll find out more about in ME3.

Saying he is too Paragon kind of discredits all Paragon Shepards...My Shep is Paragon and she is a damn good Spectre. :P Spectres seem like a Renegade subclass on their own since they only answer to the Council, but there has to be different levels of morality inside that "Renegade class," meaning a Paragon, like Kaidan, would be at the high morality end of the Spectres. I think that makes him less likely to go rogue. =]

I think he's one of those people who, like Garrus, would shine if they weren't in Shepard's shadow. He was good enough to be handpicked to serve on the Normandy. To get where he is, it seems like he has a lot of qualities that we didn't necessarily get to see over the course of the game. He has to be an accomplished fighter, have some degree of leadership, etc., but just not quite as much as Shep does, so we never see them because they're not plot-important. The ideal situation would probably be he and Shep working as a Spectre team - the person above who described them as Shep being the gas, K being the brakes, was spot on.
