Haha Gilsa, I've done pretty much the same thing. It's like I want everyone to know WE HAVEN'T BROKEN UP, IT'S JUST A RELATIONSHIP GLITCH!! Since I can't reply to his email, everyone else will have to put up with hearing how Femshep loves Kaidan.

Also lurker appearing to add to the giant pile of Kaidan love  <3

I've done the same thing too, Gilsa. ME2 made me incredibly paranoid about romance flags and whatnot.

Relationship glitch, that's hilarious! I felt the same way.

Oh come on Kaidan, I was dead but I still love you!

Still pissed we didn't get a proper option to set the record straight with him. (There's no time to explain. Excuse me while I do 12 loyalty missions for people I just met and don't trust at all. We'll talk later baby.Posted Image)

I've done the same too. Kelly can back me up when we meet Kaidan again. LOL

I do find it wierd how Garrus or Tali never mention the VS if you romanced them etc.

The only problem with that is that some people (like me) don't want to use, cannot use or don't know how to use mods and because we are also using consoles.

Don't worry, I'm 99% you won't have to. Rahpael already confirmed to us they writing Kaidan's s/s romance, they've got more time and money this time than they've had with ME1 so they won't cut it and everybody will be able to get some Kaidan lovin' :D

I hope so, I really do hope so.

I do too, because not doing so in blatantly sexist. Oh it's okay if it's girl sex cuz guys like it! Oh no Liara's an alien it doesn't count! Man Shep can't be gay cuz he wasn't before! If you give him the option to be it will make me gay!

Stupid thoughts, but I think I've actually read similar. Gay is gay. My best friend since 8th grade had many relationships with men until her 30's, when she finally came out.

RPGs are supposed to be about making the character who you want him/her to be. I want my Alexander Shepard to be who he really is, dammit.

wait, why is not doing so blatantly sexist?  and never mind that they didn't actualy cut out a written romance, they recorded Shepard, NOt Kaidan or Ash, and they only did it for time/money/easy of resource allocation,

also BI_SEXUAL.  say it with me.  BI_SEXUAL.  what is it with a community having so much trouble acceptging that people who had m/f relationships and then realized that they might like s/s too - they must be full on gay.  why is it so difficult to accept that maybe.. just maybe... they like both and there's nothing wrong with it??

Freddy Mercury was BI.  not gay, BI.  he dated men AND women and thelove of his life?  was a woman.  that song, oooh, you're making me feel.  it was about her.  even when they stopped being lovers, they remained friends.

but I digress.

Sbarge said he'd be all for it, he didn't outright confirm recording it.  but chances are - it will be included.

sorry to be a bit of a downer, although depending on how you look at it will be all good.  but it will be copy paste.  all 3 possible romances?  they will be identical to each other 85% of the time.  continuation of the romance, new romance s/s  f/m - identical with exception of a sentence here and there and beautiful/handsome substitution.  why?  becasue that is the most cost effective way of doing it and bioware is all about cost effective ways of doing it.

I poke in into fight for the love thread and ElitePicone said something that I have said before as well.  they will make Kaidan bi, becasue he is the safest option.  most people saved Ash.  whether they were given a choice, or they got an automatic VS becasue of starting in ME2?  most people saved Ash.  so for a lot of those folks, especialy the ones who don't want to see m/m romance in their games - Kaidan is perfect.  casue he's dead and all.  and a lot of those votes you see in polls where you are asked "which returning Li you want to see as s/s romance?"  Kaidan wins becasue people care the least about him.  they are like - oh i don't like that guy, he's dead in my game - GO for it!.  some even say it outright in comments.

so yeah, I think he will have his same sex romance and it will be 95% identical to  imported romance and 99% identical to new m/f romance (and if you think they are going to write s/s romance only for him?  think again)

if that's ok with you all, then i'm glad you are getting what you wanted.  I'm mostly resigned to not getting what I want.  At this point I'll settle for ME team toning down the relationship drama, instead of going with DA team's views on how video game romantic relationships should be.

I had thought about it recently and oddly enough it wouldn bother me if the new f/m romance was pretty much the same as the m/m Kaidan romance if BioWare kills two birds with one stone:
it's convenient for them if they only have to worry about one 'new' romance regardless of Shepard's gender, but that's then exactly what I want to get
I don't want the m/m part to be a huge issue and you can exile me from this thread for saying it, but that's what I liked about the Anders romance
what I would want is to have the choice between "I've been meaning to tell you that I had feelings for you but didn't tell you for whatever reason" and "I never considered it before, but now I do" ... for both genders

quick someone tell BioWare that making Kaidan bi might increase the sales of Genesis, so people can virmire him to make sure they're not bothered by 'gay' Kaidan :P

It's inherently sexist because they make a point to satisfy the straight male fantasy of a hot lesbian sex but not the gay male fantasy of hot space sex. And I'm not going to be drawn into any more debates.

This thread is about love, and I support love in its varied forms, even in a video game.

Killing a character because of his or her sexuality has so many terrible implications... :(

That's pretty much what happened to Zevran once all the dudebros heard about his bisexuality. They just slit his throat so that they wouldn't have to deal with "TEH GAY."

Poor Kaidan. Getting nuked for a myriad of unfair reasons... He needs a hug.

those people are to be pitied
it didn't occur to me that my post could be mingled with such negativity despite implying that using the homophobia of some people could be twisted to our advantage :(

did they really kill Zevran for that reason?
they probably need therapy

Just as long at the new romance has a different branch then the "rekindled" romance I won't care.

I just want my reward for being faithful, which is selfish I know.

It's a shame s/s people won't get the Ilos references etc. :(

Well Shepard wouldn't take crap from anyone about her man. And we speak on behalf of Shepard.
You and Heleno and Dirae made us proud. ^_^

Part of Heleno's comment:

Also, Kaidan doesn't cause Shep's vag to chafe/some major allergic reaction every time they f*ck, and you know, she needs to be at full mobility to stop the Reapers and all. I suppose that's an ok reason to stay with him.

LMAOOOOOO! That made me roll! Thanks for quoting that, I really needed the laugh. :D

All in all, I think that all romances have enjoyable aspects, and it's awesome that there are so many choices, for so many different types of players.  But, even though it seems like I'm a little borderline anti-Garrus, all LIs deserve respect, even if you don't partcularly like them.  I  know that sounds ridiculously ideal, and it's the internet, and it's never going to happen, but it's how I feel about it.  And yeah, I have my favorites, but I really try not to go out of my way to make anyone feel bad about their choices.  I mean, that is what these games are built around, CHOICES. And that's why they are so enjoyable, imo, because you can customize the experience to your liking, and there is always something new, if you so choose to go for a different experience.Posted Image

Well said. I'm a big supporter of choice too. It's nice if everyone gets a lick of their favorite flavor.

Also, why should Kaidan fans always have to justify why we love him? It feels like we are the awkward country cousins that nobody likes in the ME fandom. :?

:o People killed Zevran for that?? But, but... he is ridiculously awesome. Regarding the underlined sentence...that someone would do that disturbs me on so many levels.

Here's the hug I think Kaidan would give all his fans for our continued devotion. By Jhourney.

lololol - Faithful? Faithful to a relationship that lasted the equilvalant of one night and ended two years ago. I don't understand why you should get a bonus. I think it shouldn't matter.

I agree with you ZombieGeisha. I want the fact that my femshep and Kaidan developed a relationship throughout the first game, made love the night before Ilos and lost everything when she died, to actually mean something in ME3. That moment when Kaidan and Shepard are finally reunited needs to be unique. What might have been is different than what we had, and should be handled differently.

It doesn't really matter what people do with characters in the game due to sexual issues. The important thing is what the writers/company chooses to do with the characters because that trumps all. They could have wrapped up the series without including s/s options because there's only one game left at this point, but it's happening now. Better late than never. There is a quote that applies to just about everything in life, "Progress, not perfection." =p We've gone from having one s/s romance (per gender) be available in one game title to all characters becoming fair game in multiple titles.

Edit: They're already going through the trouble of acknowledging any "cheating" so there's no reason why they wouldn't acknowledge pre-existing romances versus starting a new one. LotSB with Liara is a good example of the variations. Don't sweat it! ;)

A bonus for the player putting up with BioWare personnel's 'jokes' and various other Mass Effect fen being jerks about it, is my view.  ^_^

It's probably a matter of opinion.  Others have also stated this want in the past.

For me it's more to do with waiting since ME1 to continue the romance, Liara was able to do in ME2, Tali in a sense (and Garrus). I know they weren't romances in ME1 but at least people got them as their team member. Faithful was the wrong word to use.

Bioware have stated that their are consequences for being "unfaithful" and again I still think it's the wrong word to use, so I made the assumption that there was a reward, probably my mistake.

I think it should matter a little bit if you started the romance in ME1 than ME3. Obviously if they don't, I wont throw a fit. Any Kaidan is better than no Kaidan :P

Agreed. Comments like this always baffle me:

Sigh...**** it, I give up. If they turn Kaiden gay, I'll just Zev Knife him.

...though I can't help but laugh, too. It's that kind of roundabout thinking that has caused me to think of "Zevran Knife" as a trope!

So yeah, Kaidan needs hugs. And affection. Hurry up, ME3, I want to shower Kaidan with unconditional love!

It's not just Kaidan, though. How many threads pop up regularly about "Why would you romance Tali?", "How can you be attracted to Garrus?", "Can you forgive Ash?" and the like. People have taken Bioware's greatest achievement, compelling and emotionally engaging characters, and combined it with the John Gabriel Greater Internet F*ckwad Theory to turn it into something incredibly ugly.

I know it's too much to ask of the internet, but I don't understand why it must be a fight. To actively seek to demean a given character, and to turn people against them, is the height of adolescence. It's spreading rumors in junior high homeroom. We're all (presumably) adults, I don't understand why we don't seem to want to act like it.

That wasn't directed at anyone in particular. Just something I needed off my chest.

Yes. History and a shared past relationship should be shown differently. After all, if Shepard hadn't been blown to hell, they would have been together all that time (not necessarily physically together, but relationship-wise).

Also, if there are different scenes and conversation for those new to his romance, and those that import from ME1 & 2, that gives us double Kaidan romance, which would be nice since we had to go an entire game romance-free. How is this a bad thing?

I just don't understand most people in general, if you don't like what they like then your wrong. Again it's people thinking that opinion is nearly always fact. I don't like the Liara romance but I don't go onto to their boards and claim it. to be honest I can't really have hate over a game character. Taste comes in all forms, neither right or wrong/

Hopefully your chest is much happier for it. :P I agree with you. Just because I have a favorite doesn't mean other fan favorites aren't just as wonderful. Different strokes...  (But surely you must admit, Kaidan seems to get a disproportionate amount of hate?)
