What, new DLC for DA2? That guys are fast. I hoped new announce would be made on one of conferences, maybe with new bunch of ME3 info...
Edit: Huh? Fear me, I'm professional thread killer!

You know... I have my own questions about that....Silverpearl1977 wrote...
I have a question off topic but I'm curious what you all think. Do you think Kaidan will be jealous that Thane calls you Siha (angel)? Even if you aren't in a romance with Thane. It's one of those random thoughts that crept up in my mind. What do you think?
It's an odd one, isn't it... See if you are nice to him he says it anyway, doesn't he.. so that being the case I've wondered if that is why Kasumi thinks my Jacob romance is broken because the *siha* is putting up an incorrect romance flag? And if you talk to Jacob he is a bit............ suspicious.. asks if you feel the same and tells you to save the drama for the Collectors... I wonder if that is why because there is nothing else that could be considered to be romantic at all....
It's a pertinent question, one that I do not have an answer to, sadly........

He'd take his cue from Shepard.
Frankly, that nickname is one of the reasons I can't romance him. Sia is my IRL nickname. It's pronounced very close to "Siha." It's kinda creepy to be addressed by name by a video game character.

Kaidan might question it... but I'm not even convinced that the "siha" thing will transfer into ME3 without a romance. It's possible that Thane will only call Shepard "siha" if she romanced him... or he'll call female Shepard "siha" simply for being female. We'll have to see... though I can't imagine that any newcomers to the series will really understand the significance of it, so I really think it'll just be a romance thing.
Anyway, even if Kaidan does question why that alien is calling you "siha," he won't hold it against you. It's not femShep's fault that Thane has an unrequited crush on her, and Kaidan should understand that. After all, if femShep had wanted to do anything with Thane, she would have.
Kaidan's reasonable! If you stayed true to him, it'll all work out!

Definitely a good point, I like that. I can't recall Thane calling Shepard siha outside of their private Normandy chats so I don't really see him calling her that when they're out and about, much less within earshot of anyone. I could be misremembering. Still. =pKawaiiKatie wrote...

The way I remember it, Thane calls female Shepard "siha" no matter what, even if she's mean to him and says, "This is just business, I don't make friends with my crew because we're all likely to die." Thane doesn't care; if you have have ladyparts, you're "siha."
But if you don't follow up with the romance, it only gets said once or twice. I don't even think Thane explains what it means unless you're romancing him, and he certainly never says it outside of his personal quarters. I really don't think it'll be an issue between femShep and Kaidan in ME3.

I love her. My sister doesn't really get her, so dislikes her on principle. (She's so anti-geek I wonder if we're related). She was all "Guys think she's hot? why?) I explained that Felicia Day is one of US. She's not someone who quickly google or wikipedia'd what geeks like and threw out some geek jargony words to get at our wallets. I hate when writers do that. Like that Dungeons and Dragons episode of Community. The writers quickly googled a few words that D&D players would know and threw them at us like "Hey, DD nerds! Give us your money now!"KawaiiKatie wrote...

But yeah, she's getting a Dragon Age DLC staring her own character. Meanwhile, Kaidan and Ash are wondering when their turn in the spotlight is going to come...
I have such high hopes for Kaidan in ME3... He needs to show up in promotional material or something... Please, Bioware? Pleeeeease...?
I explained that (at least imho) geek fans have long memories. We can tell when plots are pandering to us and don't really know the source material that we love. And that we NEVER forgive. At least this geek doesn't. I'm STILL pissed at Peter Jackson for all the **** he pulled in the LOTR movies.
Day is an actual WOW geek. She also loves gaming and geek culture in general. You can tell she's not going through the motions.
Also, she loves Mass Effect. I heard that all the while filming the Dragon Age stuff she'd constantly ask the Bioware people if Thane's kepral gets cured.
Yeah she's a Thane fan, but being one myself I forgive her.

Well said! She is definitely one of us. The Guild started out based on her real-life experience of getting addicted to WOW when her acting career hit a slump. She's been on X-Play talking in-depth about her experiences in different RPG games, and she got the Dragon Age web series deal in part due to her expressed love of the series. She tweets frequently about Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Skyrim, and last week about the lovely Diablo 3 beta invite in her Inbox. When a few weeks ago she tweeted about her rockin' style sporting her N7 t-shirt that day, I had to giggle in imagined comraderie
EDIT: She's also a member of that elite circle of friends of and repeat actors for Joss Whedon, which exponentially increases her cool quotient!

true! At a recent panel somone said to her "I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite webseries on the Citadel!" She was delighted. Her co-stars are "actors" and don't really game, and you could tell she was the only one who got the joke. Everyone else just kinda looked around like "wut??"Graceyn wrote..

What?? How is this the first I'm hearing of this? Maybe I haven't noticed it before. Of my Sheps who haven't romanced Thane, not once do I recall him calling them "Siha" except for the scenes where he talks about his wife (and then you subsequently shoot him down). After that I recall him calling Shepard by her last name or Commander. I could be wrong, though.Silverpearl1977 wrote...

Other than that if Thane still calls her Siha, I'm sure Kaidan would consider it one of those buddy type sayings like "five by five". After the romance possibility is cut off there's no reason to think otherwise, imho

I don't think popularity invalidates geek status. Nor do I think she expected her show to become popular in the first place.
It was and is still done on the cheap-- the majority of it is shot in her garage still (except the convention season for obvious reasons).
As I said, she was already a geek before the show. Maybe not your kind
of geek, but A geek. Do we have to split hairs and set up a geek
hierarchy to show disdain to OTHER kinds of geeks? we already get plenty
of disdain, thanks.
My point was that she's not a faker. How many times has a show like say, Gossip Girl done a "geek" episode written by writers who have no idea what they're talking about. I hate the "Hey dumb nerd! Look, we're acknowledging you without trying to understand you! Buy our stuff now!" thing. You could tell if a show referenced Mass Effect without knowing anything about it vs a writer who loved it like we do, right? I would hope so!
She loves gaming at a time when admitting that you love gaming is still a liability and has a stigma-- especially for women. She's also outspoken about the gaming community and how it has to accept women-- our right to game with men, that our opinions and buying power are just as important. On deviantart alone there's so much hate for female gamers and characters created for females to romance and ogle. Its easy to forget how MUCH hate there is for us and our content because people like Kaidan fans tend to gravitate to one another and insulate ourselves within little cliques. Venture outside of that safe little clique and it gets nasty FAST.
At the very least you have to give her props for saying that male and female gamers should get along. She's one of the few (public) women gamers saying it at the moment-- I can't say her popularity is unwelcome when she weighs in on that topic.
And also, she's goddamn funny as heck.

within the gamer community we shouldn't be putting up all those labels ...
when you enjoy gaming then it shouldn't matter if you're male or female, or a core or casual gamer ... you enjoy gaming.PERIOD
if beyond that you prefer playing your raids in WOW with 1337 people because the n00bs just get in the way is your thing, but for the love of our commong passion to not value your love for games higher than that of someone else because you have more achievements or something
and I am not targeting this at anyone in specific, I just mean 'you' the fellow gamer I didn't want to write this with the less personal 'one should this and that'
hmmm, when I'm less tired I should probably flesh this out into a nerd-rage-speech on DA ...

That's an interesting question. In ME1, after you rescue Liara, he asks outright if there's something going on there, and everytime she mindmelds Shep, even if you're romancing him and state you clearly want to just be friends with her, in the background I always noticed Kaidan running his fingers through his hair in a frustrated way. I think he gets jealous when it comes to Shepard.
So, I think if Thane calls you Shia in front of him, he will probably ask about it in the very least. Hopefully the dialouge tree will give us the option to explain things to him this time if it comes up. But I genuinely liked Thane's character, so I hope Kaidan understands. Don't want things to get heated. (Between them, not Shep and Kaidan. Things should get heated with Shenko.)
@Criz-Zone I totally agree with that.

Just quoting this entire thing because it's perfection.
Also I don't have much to add other than the casual vs. core gaming thing. I've never got the "i'm better than you" thing when someone plays 2nd life or WOW or ME for 20 hours straight vs. the person who just bought it and was genuinely intrigued, but hasn't put in the time. Or my Pokemon are more real and worthy because I play on the old Gameboy not on DS.
Actually, wait. I'd probably be that first guy-- the hardcore gaming snob who measures other human beings in terms of hours, money, and achievements unlocked. But sadly I can't. I have eye-problems. I probably shouldn't even be looking at this screen to type, but whatevs.
Better than-- worse than... These are games, right? Its not like you get a pay-bump and a better parking space at the Family Fun Center if you kill the Thresher Maw. I was once told that I shouldn't be allowed to play Mass Effect and that the games should be taken away from me because I wanted MaleShep to romance Kaidan. I thought he was joking at first but then he started a long tirade and I blocked him. Its so easy to forget but people like him are everywhere. I probably have elements of something like that in me, too.
I had a point in there somewhere. Oh yeah, human beings. Game. The end.
