there are others you can add to your squad as 'lockpickers', so you don't need Kaidan, whereas people won't kill Anders because they need a healing mage no matter how much they dislike him.

oh well, here's hope that they still bother to put some effort into it and make him a useful squadmember

...If he dies a lot for you, then either you're not using him right or I've gotten extremely lucky.
His biotics often save my soldier's ass, especially on insanity; his biotics were also crutial to getting my poor, squishy adept past the first few levels on insanity; yeah, you may not need his medicine skill, but it can make a difference (particularly for neural shock); electronics and decrypting and biotics means I can bring Ashley along (who I love) for double the soldier damage, etc.

He's incredibly useful and works well with every team.  You just have to know how to use him.

Agreed........ Like I said, I think we have discussed this over on KAST, haven't we? How useful he is and how he is better than Shepard? (well............. us, really :P)
Plus, I agree with everything you just said :D

Oooh, ETA.... ToP

Gorgeous pic by one of our very own :P:wub:

In ME1, if you spec Kaidan right, he's a very powerful teammate to have with you. Having him spec'd into Lift and Throw saved my ass several times  He did on occassion though, have a bad habit of dying on me though :blink:Told him to get that checked lol XD

I use his biotics a lot but how do you get him to do decrypting? is it like he does the decrypting routine (those mini games) for you?

You have to spec him into the Decrypting ability, but your teammates will never do the mini game for you. You, as Shepard, will always be in charge of the mini-games.

NP. The only other teammate I can recall with Decrypt is Tali, but I prefer to use Kaidan for it and have Tali spec'd into all other tech abilities (Hampering, AI hacking, Dampening)

hehe, that could be
as I said, I don't really actively use the squadmembers, they just run after my Shepard
it does get better later, but at the beginning he dies (well, actually they don't die, right, they just ... faint or something?! ) often ... coming to think about it that might be my fault, too ...
I pretty much only use omni-gel when Shepard needs it

for what it's worth it never made me like him less

EDIT:
and I think Garrus has the skills for lockpicking as well

Exactly, Sentinels are very useful squadmates. Made me miss him even more in ME2.

Edit

Although, Miranda and Kaidan in one squad in ME2 might've been a tad overpowered. Image IPB

Just curious, does Ashley have any ability that makes her worth saving? Of course Im not gonna do it but is there anything at all that deserves considering for a second, while my Shep is making up his mind on Virmire?

P.S. I always thought that (default male) Shepard looks surprisingly hot in the process of making the Virmire decision...blue skies in the backgroud, lovely view from that wall, someone's not gonna make it soon and his pretty face in the helmet, looking prettier than usual :D

Sentinels are extremely useful for a party, this class is almost a too perfect combo of defensive powers and support skills like healing or barriers to have if your Shep's comabt focused. Just another reason why Kaidan was everywhere with me in ME1

Would be good to have an option to make him follow around the Normandy too :D  Like companions in Fallout 3.

Would be good if LI would come to Shep's quarters (or just accidentally caught somewhere on the ship) to talk not only before final mission! Especially when they are going to make some serious questions about the future of relationship - but no, everyone is too proud, Shepard should come to their location and initiate the dialogue. Because from what's going on now LI in your quarters almost equals to "scene" short after

www.fanfiction.net/s/6957404/1/Before_the_Storm

The setting is Kaidan having to escort the Normandy back to Earth for Shepard's hearing :) Just something to tide us all over till ME3 :P

I would love if LI could just move to Shep's quarters, have some of his/her personal odds and sods appear on Shep's shelfs & lockers and too add believability to the romantic side of the relationship, why not have some underwear/clothes kicking around the bed area, indicate they do it not only when they're about to go a mission where they can die. From the developement POV, it's such an extremly simple thing to do, just placing few additional objects in Shep's quarters and make LI stand there. But from the relationship and its believability POV, it would add so much. Little details sometimes matter the most.

If my memory serves well, this is based on a pokemon whose only noticeable ability was having constant headache. But its evolution was local Sue, hasn't got headache... and its colour changed to blue in process.

First, not everyone like the the idea of LI moving to Shep's quarters. I personally like it, but see possible complications with VS - they aren't exactly in the active romance to the beginning of ME, so starting to live together from the beginning would be strange.

Only optional, after proposing it to the LI at an appropirate moment. Having the entire thing work form the technical point of view would be just as simple as putting the space hamster in the quartes though, it's just few new objects. Extremly easy compared to tons of custom hugging/cuddling cutscenes people want to deepedn the romances.

Haha, psyduck Kaidan

I don't know if the LI moving in would work for Kaidan and Ashley since the Alliance regs are pretty strict with Officers. Plus when ME3 starts up, its about 6-12 months after ME2, so by that time who knows what has happened between the LI and Shepard.
