just had to wipe my entire post, because I started to extremely contradict myself ...

I started out with 'it's okey, Shepard moved on because it's two years and or how Horizon went (which wouldn't explain cheating on Liara though she is kinda rejective towards you on Illium).' and ended at 'Garrus and Tali being creepy for starting romances after you recruit them ... after two years after dying and being rebuild be Cerberus, and all of a sudden they're like ... hey, let's have sex' ... somethin' ain't right here <_<

where are the sane, human squadmembers to cure my Shep's lonelyness

look at your LI, now back to me, now to your LI, now back to me
Sadly, they aren't me, but they could be as sane as me if they stopped throwing themselves at your body without question after you were gone for two years and then revived by Cerberus

also:
What's in your hand? Back at me, I have it.
It's the Avenger Rifle you always wanted. Look again. The AR is now omni-gel.

Garrus doesn't really come onto Shepard, its pretty much all Shepard on that one. All he really says to her is that she is the only person in the galaxy he respects. Friend or lover I get that. To me had my Shepard not slept with Kaidan, they both would have been her closest and dearest friends.

They kind of retconned Tali into her having a crush on Shepard in ME1 but never said anything. Which okay, that is fine, whatever. My only thing with them is they knew about Shepard and Kaidan/Ashley. The whole crew of the Normandy might not have known but Garrus and Tali were both there after Virmire and could have heard Kaidan saying to Shepard about Ashley dying because of them. Or vise versa for Ashley.

However, I'm more understanding when it comes to Garrus being with Shepard after Kaidan because he seen the break-up happen. (Just calling it a break-up cause what the hell else am I going to call it) He possibly seen it first hand if he was ground side with Shepard. Tali on the other hand was not there to actually see the break up with Ashley. I am kind of disappointed that neither of them said anything about 'what about you and Kaidan/Ashley?'

Then again it can be argued its a cultural thing. To us its part of the Bro Code, don't date your best-friend's ex. Turian culture might see that differently. Same thing with Tali and Quarian culture.

Bwhahaha.

Speaking of Kaidan and Jacob... I don't get it. Back in KOTOR, people complained about Carth "whining" about Karath's betrayal, the bombing of Telos, the death of his wife and assumed death of his son. Which, to me, is totally legit because the war is still happening and affecting Carth, it's not something from his past that he's had time to deal with.

So what does Bioware do? They make two human guys who had issues in the past, but got over them a long time ago. Now people are complaining that they're too boring because they have no issues for the player to fix. *facepalm*

Chylise, my dear, I have something to tell you... People are stupid.

If I was a military leader and one of my soldiers told me that when he was a kid he accidentally killed someone with his mind, I would be like "JACKPOT!! Now accidentally kill that guy... and that guy... and that guy over there."

If Jacob were actually like the Old Spice guy than I would totally date him. But sadly he wasn't and that whole relationship came off as weird to me.

As for Carth, well you see men are supposed to never reveal their feelings about anything and no matter how horrible past events may be they should never show emotion. At least that's the vibe I get when people complain about it.

What I find hilarious is the amount of whining and complaining Garrus does and yet no one ever says a word about him. I guess he gets away with it because he's an alien? He actually reminded me of my cousin who would constantly ask me for my advice, say he agreed with me, and then leave and do the same damn thing he'd been doing before. <_<

I don't mind the complaining of companions that much. I would like the option to complain, too. Like when I'm suddenly woken up after 2 years being dead working for a terrorist organization.

:o No wai!
Kidding, I worked customer service for seven years, I KNOW people are stupid. In all different flavors. :D

Just seems that in a straight male dominated medium, the only males characters that are praised are the stereotypical badasses; the "normal" male characters are never good enough no matter what is done to them. But I'm female, I don't think I'll ever understand the way the male brain works sometimes. (And my husband's explanation of "It's because I'm a dude" never helps :P)

And I can't believe you would turn Kaidan into your own personal psychic assassin. :crying:

And sex slave, don't forget that one...

Sometimes I like stereotypical badass men. That is why I can't wait to see more Vega. I demand to see more beating up of badies with TVs. Kaidan will be a nice balance to that. Shepards personal biotic sex god and a linebacker. This. will. be. interesting!

And you have my everlasting sympathy on working customer service. I work retail, I know your pain.

They can be professional about this, right?

Fighting or snapping at each other usually isn't very professional. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Edit

To clarify: I prefer a squad that works professionally together. One of the reasons why I avoid bringing certain squadmates together (DA2's Fenris, Sebastian, Merrill and Anders, for example).

Well, I think it's a great sign of maturity if I can work together with someone professionally and focus on the job even though I have outstanding issues with them.
That's just my opinion though and I'm perfectly fine to agree to disagree with you = )

Well, no harm done then! = D
Not that there would have been otherwise

Edit: on a side note and trying to get a discussion rolling again:

What's your take on "renegading" Kaidan?
As a usually 100% goody-two-shoes-Paragon it never occurd to me that much but I'd like to hear some of your opinions on it = )

Renegaded Kaidan gives some of the best dialogue, IMO.

I personally wouldn't do it, I like Kaidan the way he is.

However, Renegade Kaidan/Paragon Shepard or Paragon Kaidan/Renegade Shepard would be veeeeeeery interesting. Sometimes goodygoody/goodygoody or jerk*ss/jerk*ss isn't as entertaining as some people make it out to be. That being said, I do like Paragon Kaidan/Paragon Shepard together.

with the amount of PTs I've done and plan to do prior and post ME3, seriously I'll try to cover a lot of ground, renegade Kaidan is one of them;
I might also play femShep again and eventually try all the romances once, though perhaps not all the variations of loyal versus cheating ...

did we ever bring up what might have happened if Kaidan actually was part of your squad in ME2?
What would his loyalty mission be? I believe him if he says he's over his ancient history (so no finding Vyrnus' son and apologizing or finding Rhana and afterwards you have to hold Kaidan's hand because he's so depressed ... <_< ) ... so ...
I wish it was something normal ... like visiting his family on Earth for dinner, just because he wanted to see them one last time before a potential suicide mission or something
of course that would cement the 'boring' label because what is a loyalty mission if a.) your sqiaddie doesn't *really* need you to solve their family issues and b.) there probably won't be any shooting

Just going to toss something in here that I been thinking about lately. As someone who is addicted to nicely written Fanfiction based on Bioware games I'm slightly afraid Bioware some of the authors visions of Kaidan might end up much better then the game itself. :(

Honestly there are so many talented people who done a lot with even the limited material Bioware gave them in ME2 yet none of that will matter in ME3. Ugh. They better not drop the ball with him here and make him stay true to his ME1 personality!

I think it's nice that they do give the option to Renegade Kaidan/Paragon Ashley. I'm doing a Dark Side run in KOTOR, and all my party members constantly gripe about how mean I'm being (especially Carth, even though he secretly likes how mean I am :P). At least in KOTOR2 when you play Dark Side, you can corrupt Atton, Mira, Bao-Dur, Disciple, Handmaiden, and Visas. (Although I wish they didn't do the whole "Sith corpse face" thing).

Well I'm doing a playthrough with a paragon shep to renegade him (since I can do this via charm. DIdn't quite like how the renegade option put it, so I'll try it like this) since I'm kind of thinking it will. I guess it only didn't have an impact in me2 because the sreentime was, what? 2 minutes?

Plus there was a statement somewhere in this thread from someone from bioware who said it was "important how we shaped the characters"

Oh, and then there were these alignment bars on the characterscreen in the demo. Might be important what alignment your character or your squadmates are (like there was an option to get Garrus off of his Vengeance trip in Me2, or to let him have his vengeance. Not quite sure if this stuff will take effect for EVERY squad member, but Kaidan/Ash, sure, I guess.)

@Hotaru29 The paragon and renegade bars on the character screen in the demo is for Shepard only, it just that BioWare have not removed it from the other characters.

Edit: Spelling.

I don't remember who said or or where (probably on twitter ...) but someone said something somewhere that could be interpreted as it making a difference if you renegaded Kaidan

Considering there was no difference in Garrus, Tali, Wrex in ME2 I would think nope ... That's what really frustrated me about Garrus. I had worked on getting him to understand why rules were set in place and I had hoped to find him back with C-Sec maybe even heading it up but no ... Posted Image

No matter if you paragon/renegade the character they were all the same.

I honestly don't think many players who had those complaints actually bothered to talk to Kaidan or Jacob.  They just saw Normal Human Male Party Member and said "boooooring" and went to talk to the awesome aliens or human females, who get a pass because they don't threaten male player's dominance and are likely to please female players who are less likely to find female human characters threatening.

Sigh.  I am too cynical and took too many Communications and Marketing classes.  I don't have a lot of faith in human nature.
