I wish I had more time to play said games I can take home from said store. All the guys at work know i'm obsessed with bioware though so if a customer asks about any bioware game they are like "talk to her, she knows all about it". Hell bioware should be giving me a cut of their income for how much I squeal and suggest the games for people.

Customer: I'm looking for some game to play?
Me: what do you like?
Customer: well shooters, scifi stuff
Me: MASS EFFECT O.O

or

Customer: fantasy swords and stuff
Me: DRAGON AGE O.O

Coworker: Not everyone wants to play bioware games.....
Me: Well they should.

This is why I am writing an AU where Hawke goes back in time to fix Anders' little boo-boo. I'm a revisionist all the way, baby! :D

I LOVE going to midnight releases for BioWare games. I walk in wearing my thigh-high boots and my red lipstick, and all the twenty-something male gamers are looking at me like  "What is a chick doing here??" But I just smile and wave, smile and wave....and run home to play the newest  yummy game. Crashing the bro party always makes me laugh. The guys that work at Gamestop all know me though, we all speak the same nerdy language.

@suggafoot   No happy ending with Alistair? I got to be queen. Were you not a human noble? So off topic I know!

Yeah, but if you play as other Origins, it totally blows for him.

You don't have to make him King, you can keep him as a Grey Warden and let Anora stay in her position as Queen.

Honestly, Alistair/Warden is the only happy ending for DAO, as shown by DA2. Leliana works for the Divine and Zevran still propositions Hawke. Morrigan is all up to head canon if you went through the mirror with her at the end of Witch Hunt.

Edit: And I get ToP, so this post is not totally offtopic!

Localised games (and strange order of playing) does funny things. When Kaidan first opened his mouth I mumbled "Zevran?" and was rather suspicious about what he will suggest next:P

BTW one of their reason I love BW so much is their choice of VA. Raphael Sbarge ;) Brandon Keener ;) Fred Tatasciore ;) Gideon Emery ;) Tricia Helfer :D

I get the 'wait this game is for you?' question a lot too. I got a lot of funny looks when I was in line for the midnight release of ME2. Yay, for being the only chick there not with her boyfriend!

People always assume it's for my husband, which fills me with rage since he doesn't even like video games.  The cashier will be like "Ah, Mass Effect, you have excellent taste my friend" and my husband is like "HERP A DERP MADDEN? THAT'S A GAME, RIGHT?" and I'm like "It's for me, I'm the one with excellent taste!  :crying:"

But, yeah... I mostly play BioWare games, notable exception being L A Noire this year ;) (and will have a bit of a go on Gears Of War 3 tomorrow before posting it to my son :)

When i went in at 9 am to get a dragon age 2 signature guide the day it was released, the guys were dumbfonded. I'm always surprised since I know there are loads of women that play games.

But on topic I never played KOTOR so I don't get that Carth vibe but when I play DA2 with Fenris I always think of Balthier which slightly ruins the game for me.

What gets me is the 'talking to people who don't understand', voice that staff use on me in game stores, they shut up fairly fast I have to say as I often know more than they do :P

Had this wonderful experience when getting one of the WoW-games. A little old lady is in the line before me. She get's one Collectors Edition and two regulars. The guy behind the counter asks who the fav-grandkid is. She simply says the Collectors Edition is for her, the kids can have regular =) made me smile

No, of course not, it is just odd that some game retailers employ only those guys........ And tbh... I get it with male and female staff, I find it is an age issure more than a sex issue, iyswim :)

What I've found in my own experience is that GameStop employees are REALLY quick to believe that women are only in the store to buy things for the men in their lives, and they usually know nothing about role playing games, unless it's World of Warcraft.  Which is a big part of the reason that I mostly rely on digital distribution like Steam or Origin, along with Amazon, for my game buying needs nowadays.  I don't need to deal with GameStop anymore, so I don't.

It's the same sort of attitude that is prevalent in video game "journalism" (with a few notable exceptions), the idea that only males who are in their target demographic are playing these games, so they don't even bother to pretend that they're trying to appeal to anyone but them.

The Gamestop by our house didn't believe my husband when he said he was picking up DA2 for me to play while I recovered from surgery.

He talked me into going inside the store with him (right after outpatient surgery) and made a great show of handing me my game. I just rolled my eyes at him. The painkillers had begun to wear off. Didn't really have the energy for more.

It's kind of a bummer that most GameStop employees don't know much about games. (In my experience anyways.) They employ people who can sell the games, not those who knows about it. It's all business I guess.

Back in July when I was getting LA Noire at GameStop, the cashier asked me this... and it was a chick. I don't even.. just WHY.

Edit: Because.. Kaidan.
