Questions like this always bug me when I'm buying a game. It is possible to have ovaries and enjoy spending hours and hours AND HOURS in a nest playing video games. Especially if the game has a certain Mr Alenko in it <3

Hey low blow not all men are that stupid and believe that only men play computer games.:(

No, of course not, it is just odd that some game retailers employ only those guys........ And tbh... I get it with male and female staff, I find it is an age issure more than a sex issue, iyswim :)

Yes I know what you mean and the Gamestation were I live I think that no one knows anything about computer games there.

Wow, really? That's shocking, my experience of Gamestation has been generally positive, I find Game is the worst as a game retailer because GS usually employ gamers (like Blockbuster do) wheras Game employ retail staff, iyswim?
I found that to be a general rule, where are you? I'm in Eastbourne but have moved around :)

The Gamestop by our house didn't believe my husband when he said he was picking up DA2 for me to play while I recovered from surgery.

He talked me into going inside the store with him (right after outpatient surgery) and made a great show of handing me my game. I just rolled my eyes at him. The painkillers had begun to wear off. Didn't really have the energy for more.

My husband squashes any ideas salesman have about approaching him assuming he is the gamer... He says ''Don't look at me, I have no life, I am a gaming widow'' :P

LOL, wouldn't that be "widower?"

My husband and I both game.  He just heavily dislikes the Dragon Age setting.

I live in Birmingham, Gamestation is generally positive elsewhere but the one I go to some of the people that work there are no always polite and helpful, though I think that most of them just want to make a living more than anything else and everyone is prone to bad days. It's just in these times retailers are employing people with experience more that anything else.

Edit: I think BioWare really needs to give some news on Kaidan as we are getting of topic very easily.

People in Game always ask if I need help, they walk past my boyfriend and straight for me. Just cos I have ovaries. LOLZ

I gave my CV into Gamestation for xmas jobs but I couldnt really write.

I AM A BIG NERD SO HIRE ME PLZ.

Probably won't hear anything *sigh* Although when I inquired the guys behind the counter started talking to me.

I want to get a Mass Effect tshirt but I am swayed by the tote bag. If there was a Kaidan one I would so buy it. Imagine if there was a Kaidan plush. I would scream and cry with happiness.

At work today we got some nintendo t-shirts in and I did a freak out and everyone was like wierdo.

Yeah, I don't get the shock at female gamers either. Consisting I've been playing since the Commodore 64 days. (Yeah drop that name in a game store and watch the look the sales associate gives you) I thought we were years past the stereotype image of female gamers.

Games like Mass Effect really appeal to me. The game is a challenging shooter (always play on hardcore or insanity modes) it has a great story, you can play a customizable female/male character, and control how they react. And it might be because I'm a girl but I'm really enjoy the romantic subplot. I'm a fan of good story telling and ME has all the elements I look for: Tragedy, comedy, romance, struggle, etc.

Though I realize that the romance with Kaidan is only a small part of the over all story, but I really love how it is handled. Two people met and start falling for each other even though they know they shouldn't. They come together and have one night of passion thinking they very well could die the next day. But they manage to save the day at the last second. Then she dies, leaving him an emotional wreck. She is brought back to life and has to work for an enemy to save innocent lives. He finds out she is not only alive but working for some bad people. There is a argument about it and he leaves. But apologizes later through a letter. For her part she keeps him in her heart.

This is wonderful! March can't come soon enough. To hell with Romeo and Juliet or Tony and Maria this is MY kind of tragic romance. There are giant people melting robots and tech zombies for god sake!! You can only get more awesome if everything was on fire!

Call me selfish but I'm more willing to see a new male romance instead of sacrifice a satisfying conclusion I have been waiting 6 years for.

The question is why do you assume s/s romance for Kaidan would take away the resources from Kaidan's o/s romance conclusion? Content is content, time is time, no matter what devoted to. Any new Kaidan content could 'take away' from time & resources they could devote to Kaidan o/s romance conclusion. Frankly, you should be just as worried (if not more) about greately the expanded friendships dialogues they've promised and how will that influence romance dialogues.

Not like I don't get your "selfishness" here, it ain't really anything bad to me, just natural that you want the best conclusion for yourself, just as other people want the best friendship or s/s romance. The point is, one way or another, it will be you who in the end will have the biggest amount of Kaidan content that suits you. Neither people who want(ed) to be BFFs/bros with Kaidan, or romance Kaidan as ManSheps could possibly recieve as much content as you did at this point, simply because it was lacking already lacking in the two previous games in the trilogy. Even if Kaidan o/s romance conclusion ends up being not as big as you wanted and/or "suffer" from some shared lines with friendship/gay romance paths, you will still have the biggest trilogy-spanning arc. So I'm not sure if any 'sacrificing/suffering' talk is really fair here. Unless sacrificing/suffering manes not recieving 100% of attention anymore and you want 100% of the content for yourself.

I don't buy this logic either.  So... those of us with a "faithful" romance arc should get shafted just so every one else can have their turn at him?

Uh, no, sorry.  That doesn't make it OK.

I'm questioning your logic.  I don't actually think Bioware will screw over one facet of the romance just to include another, but that logic up there?  Really kinda sucks.  We should be happy with whatever we get just because we've already gotten a whole game's worth of content (plus one scene and a lousy letter)?  How the hell is that remotely fair? I call bull****.

People always assume it's for my husband, which fills me with rage since he doesn't even like video games.  The cashier will be like "Ah, Mass Effect, you have excellent taste my friend" and my husband is like "HERP A DERP MADDEN? THAT'S A GAME, RIGHT?" and I'm like "It's for me, I'm the one with excellent taste!  :crying:"

LOL Gamestop always assumes the games I buy are for my son. Especially since I play a lot of sandbox and shooters. My son only likes music and arcade games.

If including homosexual romance ends up being detrimental to the straight romance already established, it would be better simply to use another character. Those who stayed "faithful" to Kaidan do want to be rewarded, despite Mass Effect 2 presenting them with shiny new LIs.

If something trilogy spanning is so desired, Joker can easily fit that bill.
Moreoever, I don't see the importance of having a M/M romance be "trilogy spanning" at this point.
Mass Effect 3 is the last game for Shepard, but that doesn't mean new romances started with new characters can't be meaningful.

Not that would I dismiss that desire, but if the attitude of some is "be happy with what you've got," then those same people should consider being happy with an M/M romance with Vega, Joker, or another male character besides Kaidan.

I love this. Whenever I'm playing a game on my Xbox I know I always steal my quilt from my bed and gather it on the floor. Comfortable lounging, and I need more pillows for ME3.

I either need more pillows or a fainting couch so I can faint with happiness when certain people are reunited. How old am I again?

@Collider I would be happy with any M/M romance opinion to be honest the only problem is that I need a lot more info on Vega before I make any decision about him as I "never judge a book by it's cover" and the comic doesn't give much info about him, other than that I would like Kaidan to be a S/S romance but if he is not an available then I won't lose any sleep about it I would just move on in life.

Edit: Spelling

I don't see how the option of Kaidan being gay means sacrificing a satifying romantic ending for a femshep/kaidan romance that was faithful through all 3 games.

I want a happy ending for my canon femshep and Kaidan. I want a happy ending for my manshep who never romanced anybody because he's been waiting for Kai to open up. I don't think adding an extra line to the dialouge tree is going to ruin someone else's game. I really don't think so.

Did I say it? No. I said that if the faithful romance doesn't end up as big as it would have if there wasn't s/s romance AND if bromance got shafted again (like it did in ME1 & ME2) then faithful romances would STILL have the biggest amount of content in the trilogy, it is simply a fact.

Ideally, I would want everyone to get as much amazing content as possible. But just as meonlyred pointed, at some point selfishness comes in. My post wasn't an attack on her becuase I get her point, you do too. The question is whether you admit it or not. I, just like everyone else, am selfish in wanting content for me at the expense of the other content (in case they can't have hours of exclusive content for everyone). You and other faithful romances want huge faithful romance conclusion at the expense of friendship path and s/s romance.

Sialater wrote...

Let's talk Kaidan bromancers (as in friendship) here for a moment. They got shafted in ME1 and ME2. How's that fair hmmm? Why don't they deserve to have as much content as you hmm? Why exactly should you get more content again in ME3 if you already got more content then bromancers in ME1 & ME2?

Vega is already being portrayed as VERY different from Kaidan, personality wise, if we go by the comic, and that's fine by me.  For people who liked Kaidan in ME1, however, pointing them to Vega and saying "here, you should be happy now, he's your m/m option" won't be be very gratifying if he does end up being nothing like Kaidan, and is not appealing in his own right.

This is really a discussion for the s/s thread, but what it comes down to is that characters like Kaidan have very distinctive personalities, and substituting Joker or Vega won't be the same, especially since some people may already dislike Joker, and Vega may be written as being very different from Kaidan (IDK, Kaidan just doesn't strike me as the type to kill people with tvs when he doesn't like the news...)
