I don't know if the LI moving in would work for Kaidan and Ashley since the Alliance regs are pretty strict with Officers. Plus when ME3 starts up, its about 6-12 months after ME2, so by that time who knows what has happened between the LI and Shepard.

Again, optional and only at appropriate moment (means after reconciling if necessary). As for regs, ME1&2 proves at every point Shep and his crew do not care about that in a bit

Yeah but in ME2, Shepard wasn't with the Alliance anymore so regs didn't apply. In Me3, Shepard is back with the Alliance and now Kaidan is a higher ranking officer than Shepard. Since he's more of the by-the-book type, it might take some persuading in the game for him to move in if we're given that option with the LI.

Kaidan will be back taking orders from Shepard almost immediatly. I doubt will see one argument based on who has authority over what...

you know ... if Shepard is back with the Alliance they might just as well push him up the ranks for stopping the Collectors, thus avoiding the whole issue (so yeah, it would be more BioWare promoting him for convenience than the Alliance)

While I don't think that Kaidan would just  completely disregard Alliance regulations, you have to remember that by this time, there won't be much of an Alliance left.  A good deal of their forces probably get wiped out in the intitial attack on Earth, or so I've heard speculated. Who are they going to answer to?  Also,  I don't think that he and Shepard will just drop everything and hop into bed together/become "roomies", but I have a strong feeling that any LI may have the option to share quarters with you at some point, ala when you LI moves-in in DA2.  Just my thoughts on it, though.

I'm not saying it won't happen or that it will happen or that they will be arguing over who has authority. Just saying, like Kaidan was in ME1, he was pretty self-controlled on following regs because that is just how he is. We don't even know if the LI moving in is an option right now. If it is, then Huzzah, if not then no big deal.

my femshep is paragon; earthborn;war hero...soldier..oh, and originally stayed faithful to kaidan. saved rachni...rewrote geth; pocketed the genophage cure; saved council; saved wrex; sacrificed ash..which i didn't like doing at all, even tho she got on my nerves.."skipper".

you know i was checking out the ideas abt. the perm. squad in ME3. there are 5 (outta 6?) confirmed..so far. i had a horrible thought..what if miss "rhana" came back? it would make things interesting, but it would tick me off..lol

wat is this rank issue? from wat i've heard kaidan becomes a spectre right? but so is shep...or promoted within alliance? bah, heck, shep, et al Stole the Normandy in ME1...so pffft. I mean, that still makes me laugh..just gangster style..punch out udina and friggin' take off...hahahha..that was awesome..lol.

but the normandy is shep's ship (hehe). it always will be. and the crew is her/his crew; following her/him into hades.
