His voice is what made me play ME1 in the first place, lol. My sons had been trying to get me to play for ages because mum + shooting anything is always a good laugh. Finally they came out with "you can romance Carth, it's the same VA" which pretty much sealed my fate and made me fall in love with ME1 and Kaidan.
Hahaha, it was reverse for me. I played Mass Effect first, and when I saw the waves and waves and waves of "Kaidan is a Carth clone!" on the internet, I was like "There's MORE Kaidan out there?! Sign me up!"
Oddly enough, when I got the game, it was such a...I don't want to say "huge disappointment," but I definitely felt...no, not "ripped off," but it was most certainly not what I signed up for. I actually tried to find similarities between the two. Like, seriously. I sat down and actively attempted to make a list of things they have in common. Here's pretty much what that amounted to:
1. Both human.
2. Both male.
3. Both...soldiers, I guess. (Even though Kaidan is a marine and Carth is a pilot.)
4. Both...
5. Uh...
6. ...
It was at that point that I concluded the internet is full of stupid people. Earthshattering discovery, I know, try to contain your surprise.
That said, buying that game is probably one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. Not even kidding. Though I like Kaidan better as a character (cuz he's a lot nicer. We don't get enough nice guys in fictional romances these days, IMO.), I feel secure in saying that I hold Carth's romance path up as one of my favorite subplots of all time. Mostly because of...
*that scene* that happens after you've visited 3/4 of the main worlds. Anyone who's played the game will know what I'm talking about.

Why is it that I can't ever share my experiences without diving headfist into gushing about Bioware's writing?! Why?!
