It's all good, I've been stocking up on tomatoes.
I prefer throwing potatoes, though. They hit harder.

Dangit, is there an e on the end of tomatoes and potatoes? After staring at them for five minutes, no spelling looks correct...

Hey guys. I'm de-lurking again because I have a question. I apologize in advance if this is an annoying subject but it has me intrigued. What is your guys opinions or thoughts on why Kaidan's picture is on that desk in the human embassy in ME2. I have played both games loads of times and never knew this until I read it on the mass effect wiki. So next time I played, I checked after talking to Anderson and low and behold there it was and I was left confused Posted Image. Again, I apologize if this has been previously talked about to death, but dang it if my curiosity isn't piqued and I can't find an answer to it.

Okay, I'll go back to lurking and stalking this thread now Posted Image.

my theory is that Anderson was a sort of surrogate father to Kaidan. He personaly selected him to be part of the original normandy crew, head of Marine detachment no less, Anderson respects Kaidans' opinion (there's satisfaction in his voice when you ask about Ash after eden prime and you tell him she would be a good adition - he replies that Alenko thoughts so as well and recomended her to stay on).  I think Kaidan and his blood fother had a bit of a falling out that was possibly related to BAAT (he was proud that I have enlisted.. eventualy), and its possible that Anderson saw great potential in young Kaidan and took him under his wing.

mind you this is all personal speculation that's also promted by other people's speculations in various fanfics :P  but concidering that Kaidan's picture is there even if you saved Ashley?  yeah..

I think the most common theory is that its supposed to be a picture of the VS but it was bugged so if Ash is alive it's still a pic of Kaidan - although I can't verify this cause Ash died in all my playthroughs.

Another theory is that Kaidan is really Anderson's love child, which could explain why Kaidan and his 'father' didn't get along, lol

Omgoodness, it's true. I had to fire up the xbox and go see. And there it was! That's..uh...special. I didn't know they were that close. There's nothing that hints at that in ME1.

Although, it has been 2 years. Perhaps, Shepard's "death" hit them both pretty hard, and they became closer in trying to deal with that....I guess.

For Anderson to have Kaidan's pic up is interesting. I don't think BW would just throw that kinda lil detail in there without there being a reason. A small or big part of a story behind it.

To be honest, I'll be disappointed if they turn out to be related or anything like that. It would be a little too soap opera for me. I can't think of any explanation that would be reasonable.

@silver1881: yeah, I don't think they're related, either. That would be.....meh.

And, I can't think of any explanation, either. Although it's nice to have some new fodder for my imagination. lol. I wonder if that was there from the beginning of ME2?

Strange. So it's intended to be "opposite" to picture in captain's quarters, and since all the pictures Shepard can get there are pictures of VS... Maybe Anderson was intended to keep pictures of Virmire Victims to honour their memory and sacrifices being made to stop Reapers? And then one brilliant mind forgot that not everyone saved Ashley? <_<

Simple-becouse it was too hard to put Shepard's holo there.Posted Image
I ratcher think, it should be a holo of person who didn't survive Virmire mission. It's a bug, or BioWare have data, that  more ppl saved Ash than Kaidan, so they didn't care about Ash holo there.

Aw man that photo. Was I the only one who found it creepy that it's the same one that shows up on Shepard's desk? I so wanted a dialogue option wherein Shepard grabs Anderson by the collar at that point and yells, "Stop stealing my boyfriend!!" (Come on, you wanted do to that too and you know it.)

So, aaanywho, I wanted to pop in and ask something real quick. How do you get Kaidan to talk about his migraines? He's never mentioned them once when I talk to him, and now I'm curious.

*sob* I bet he talks about them with Anderson all the time!

I actually can see BW doing that but I still think it doesn't make a lot of sense.
I mean,a dozen people died, why would he put up a holo of someone who didn't suvive Virmire,a mission that was not really connected to him? Especially if it's really just bugged....Kaidan served under him and was hand picked by him, unlike Ashley who he met for like 5min and then he was already off the Normandy.....

But maybe it means something more? I mean Casey Hudson tweeted this: "Kaidan is a big pat of the trilogy story" so maybe that means Kaidan will be mentioned/play a part even if he died?

LOL, I still think that picture was a Bioware employee taking the ******, and nobody felt like it was a big enough deal to change or patch once the game was out.

I'd be *so* interested in hearing the official story, though. This is one of those things that may actually make me sign in to twitter....

We don't know too much about Kaidan/Anderson Anderson/Shepard past before ME1. For sure Anders knew Kaidan and Shepard before ME1 events. So maybe Anderson is Kaidan's mentor, close friend or something.
About Kaidan's role in story of ME..I think that Hudson's words meant  " Kaidan's big part of the trilogy" only if he is alive  plus maybe if he is in relationship with Shepard( for more drama etc.), and doubt that there will be a big difference in main story if VS it's Kaidan or Ash.

To be honest, I'm really not seeing the whole Kaidan/Anderson mentor theory. I'm pretty sure the only time they ever speak to one another in the entire game is if you take Kaidan along to Flux when the Normandy is grounded, and even then Kaidan just repeats what Shepard said like two seconds before. Not really a deep meaningful relationship there...
