I like Rahna, the way Kaidan tells her.  However, I don't think she'd add anything to the story at this point and I certainly wouldn't want to see her thrown in as a Love Complication or a villainous witch or anything in an attempt at deepening Kaidan's story.

...why is there no Kaidan on this page?

I agree.  Kaidan dealt with Rhana and his BaAT period years ago.  There's no point in bringing that up as a plot point.  I mean, how many lost loves from our teens would still cause us romantic complications in our 30's?  I know mine wouldn't.  They should leave her in his past.

If they feel the need to complicate his love life, the obvious one would be the Citadel doctor, but I think that Kaidan's addressed that as well.  It was nothing serious and it certainly didn't sound like it worked out--and that was before he knew his dead love had returned to life.  ;)

As a shameless plug, I have a new story called the Shepard Chronicles.
Its a series of messages that Kimbri writes to Kaidan throughout her adventures and experiences in ME2.
I put up the second post today.

The re-wooing Kaidan/Ash shouldn't be too hard I think because it's not an entirely new relationship.
Speaking from experience, getting back with an ex that I dated for a few months with years in between the break, the second time around is a lot easier. Sure time has changed a few things but both parties are generally a lot more comfortable with each other and some of the guess work is already done.

It should be like re-meeting an old friend with outstanding issues that have to be resolved before moving forwards. And there better an option for Shepard to declare her/his love this time around too complete with awkward shuffling.. :P

How many of these are there exactly?   Don't they always end up with Kaidan getting the most votes?

People never check back older polls and just make new ones :/ And yes, Kaidan's winning but we can't just rest on our lauers, we need to make sure he wins all the time with huge lead so BW has no doubts he's #1 :D

I want Kaidan and Shepard back together as quickly as possible. Earning a happy ending through angst and hardships--that was what ME2 was. We had an entire game of waiting. I'm ready for the next step.

And it wouldn't make sense for Kaidan to get stuck on some of the details we obsess over and still be following Shepard around to save the galaxy. I'm one of the people who doesn't think he needs to apologize for Horizon, but if they're together on the Normandy again, then they've already reached a consensus about some things. And then if he believes her and trusts her on the Commander Shepard level, then a good conversation where they address their issues and it clicks into his head to trust her on the personal level as well would be enough for me. With video game conversations representing so much more than they are, what one conversation of reconciliation hints at would be enough for me to be ready to move on.

I can also see Kaidan and Shep taking advantage of Shepard being alive again just as easily as I can see Kaidan being extra closed off. Or I can see him being a really conflicted mix of both, but, given the restrictions of a game romance and the limited conversations we're going to get, I hope that it tends more towards the former.

They're spectres and they're saving the galaxy. I don't think people are going to really care what else they're doing.

The ability to start a romance doesn't need to matter. For any of the romances there could be an ongoing happy path, an angsty path that deals with a former love interest, and a romance that starts in ME3. The fact that Kaidan could also potentially have any of these 3 branches shouldn't be any more worrisome for us than it is for anyone else.

I think the concern over whether or not their relationship was enough of a relationship can be put to rest after it took him two years to go on one date. That said, I'm incredibly frustrated at the idea that Shepard didn't bother to contact him during all the extra time between ME2 and ME3.

BioWare is going to have to do ongoing relationship stuff for the ME2 LIs. I really hope there is the same option for Kaidan for those who stayed "loyal." As far as I'm concerned, we have just as much reason to be able to hop into bed with our LIs (after one good conversation) as everyone else. Every conversation in ME2 after every mission where we just became friends with everyone else was us putting in our time and earning our ongoing relationship status.

I really don't think the fact that they didn't sleep together until Ilos diminishes their relationship in any way. The fact that it happened at all says a lot, especially for Kaidan since he says that he doesn't do that kind of thing lightly. I think there was definitely a very deep relationship developing throughout the game they just never acted on it until the end.

I kind of see their reunion as being more awkward than anything, neither knows where they stand with the other and maybe might be a little scared to hope for too much. I don't think Kaidan will be angry anymore, he apologized in his email and a so much time will have passed, I think he will be ready to listen.

In my head it was "love" even if it wasn't romeo and juliet esque. My canon shep has stayed faithful cos she'll never find a man like him.

How corny of me haha

My point was more that their relationship was over and done with in a flash. They flirted for however long ME1 took place, had an almost kiss while the Normandy was on lock down, they slept together once on the way to Ilos, and then she was dead. Their relationship can be measured in days. Not months or years.

I'm aware that jumping in bed with Shepard was a huge step for him. But it probably wouldn't have happened had things not been so desperate. They probably would have waited until the mission was over but they thought the galaxy was going to end.

My point is that they aren't 'boyfriend/girlfriend' but they aren't free from each other either. If Shepard choose to be with someone else in ME2 then she moved on from him, but if not they are in this weird start of romance limbo. I don't expected them to be all starry eyed, rainbows, sugary words in ME3. I expect to see regret and hesitation.

Definitely true.

And while part of me wouldn't mind seeing Kaidan take down Jacob over the LI position, its just not in character for him.  Like has been said before, I think if he saw Shepard happy with someone else, he'd be more likely to just walk away than try to ruin that for her (or him).

I also think that Kaidan's usually quite logical and rational.  Horizon was unusual for him.  Hence the e-mail.  And he's already appologised.  I don't think more appologies are in order unless the two continue to act stupidly in ME3.  What they really need is just some time to rationally talk and listen to each other.  Kaidan hopefully with his new status has retrieved some of stuff that Shepard may have for the Alliance--like send the Cerberus intel from Lorek, investigate that crashed freighter, return to Alchera, etc.  Hopefully these things and some other choices she's made along the way will help to show him that she's (he's) still the same person that she was for the most part and was just strong-armed into a situation that wasn't of her choosing.

No, quiet talking scenes aren't flashy.  They aren't as "exciting" as Ashley taking down Miranda despite not having biotics (which I would really like to see).  But they would be more in-character for someone like Kaidan.  And I would really love to have some of these "alone time" type scenes with him, working through things back toward friendship and more.

Oh, BTW There's a poll on what you miss from ME1. Kaidan (although they misspell his name) is an option:

I would be obligated to choose at least nine or ten of those options.  While I don't mind the direction that ME2 went in, I miss pretty much all the stuff mentioned from ME1.

And as to whether we should have a "hard" time or easy way to reunite with Kaidan:  as long as it's well written, and I feel like I've gotten some closure about Horizon, and the renewed romance is believable, I'm fine with whatever the writers want to do.

I will be disappointed if it's still the formula of three short conversations and then romance scene before the endgame, though...

I agree with everything you said here.
Esp the part about wanting a more developed series of interactions than we had in ME1 and esp in ME2 (with any of the LI's).  All of the relationships seemed so rushed in ME2 that they mostly felt like hook-ups rather than something real and deep (from what I've seen on YouTube).  At least with Kaidan's in ME1 you could feel the friendship build and deepen before more happened, but still there were too few conversations, IMO.

What I DEFINITELY don't want is like what happened in DA2--where you can't even go and talk to a character unless the game tells you to go and talk to them--even if they are living in the same house with you!  That was AWFUL!  Image IPB

He won't be in either of my ME3 games. For all three of my Shepards, I left him behind with the bomb.

And in Mass effect 1 you felt the relationship growing from start to finish of the game, In mass effect 2 you had to wait till the 2nd part of the game to experience any of that. I want me3 the relationship to grow like in me1 but more dialog options and more kiss and flirty stuff and more sex, and not just 1 sex just before a suicide mission or Ilos.
