*sigh*   To me the original author of that comment was expressing a personal feeling of insecurity and generalizing it -  and the respondant simply trying to make the person feel better.  That doesn't mean *I* have to take it personally and generalize from it which I didn't.  So yes, I do think akg's work is wonderful.

@ Star - I personally would have said: "no it doesn't make your fic look like ******, its a great fic, but so is yours." the difference is - uplifting without putting down. and I should also apologize and rephrase - instead of saying that I've read better I should have said I've read fics I've enjoyed more.

I'm glad you like it. we don't have to all share the same tastes, that would be boring.

Actually, this is discussion.  Discussion doesn't necessarily mean agreement.  I respect that Leah has a different opinion.  I'm also aware that there are other background discussions influencing some of this and those have been resolved elsewhere.  

I do miss the days where we could talk about things without worrying that lack of complete agreement on everything meant we were arguing.  But no worries.  Back to Kaidan...

I'll be the first to say that eloquence is not my strongest point.  and I do empathize when people feel bad about their work after seeing/reading/etc something that they concider to be so much better.  but I try as hard as I can manage not to lump everyone into the empathy pile is all.  so if someone's work makes me feel enadequate and someone else feels same - I might say - I knw exactly how you feel, but I try very hard not to say - it should make us all feel enadequate with its greateness.

sorry to restart this, but I just saw this post, chose to see it litteraly rather then give in to paranoia and expectation of sarcasm and felt the need to reply.

to bring it back to Kaidan - when I try to emphasize with people and make them feel better about themselves, I try to stick to his values.  treat and view people as individuals not as a collective group.

edited to add: posting an update about your favorite fic is in no way shape and form to blame for any arguments,  especially since this particular fiction was a popular reading choice long before ME3 was even announced.  the argument started due to a choice of words and has been since resolved with Star and Gracelyn at least.
