How did he feel finding out about their complications? Were the complications known, but he went through it anyway? How did he navigate the societal marginalization from being both a biotic and an L2? Will we see more of his powers in ME3?

I missed him, too. I really did. I felt it. I felt what my character was going thru. When he walked away on Horizon, I was like, "For realz? You mean, goodbye, goodbye?"
I did try and track him down for awhile (don't judge me). I always thought I'd run into him again in ME2. Then after awhile you realize it's not gonna happen. Which makes that faithful Shep and pic scene b4 Omega 4 all the more impacting.
You feel it.
Whew, so I'm not insane for actually having emotions over pixels and binary code.
Or, maybe we're all just that much insane and not alone
If someone does an "Anders" to Kaidan's personality... I might just feel the need to glare at a puppy. And then I'll go back to my happy land of playing ME1 and forget that ever happened. I'll just have faith in Bioware... Please, BW, for the puppy's sake!
This is what happens when I post on forums and I'm tiredI turn into the babbeling idiot."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When the story is good you know it because you actually care about the characters and what happens to them. That's what the writers want. That's what the audience wants. To care about the characters and the story.
If ppl don't give a darn about the characters in your story, then it's time to rewrite.

@Brodyaha: Yeah. It seemed like a big deal to me. I remember when I learned about the L2's from Chakwass. I was like, "What?!?"
There's alot of stuff going on with that. Also, has he upgraded since then? Jack was sporting L5's.
And why haven't we heard about his powers yet? Maybe I'm being paranoid, but BW is crafty like that. Maybe Kaidan got them removed.
Is he still a biotic? Why didn't he throw up a biotic shield or something on Horizon when the seeker swarms descended? He just pointed that gun and I'll cover you...with his gun. Not a biotic shield like Samara in the SM. And now he seems to have heavy armor, too.

I think the animation for Kaidan and Ashley was much the same on Horizon, down to the gun. No idea why the hell he didn't use a biotic shield. Maybe that will be covered in ME3. I could be wrong, but for all our exposure to biotics, we don't know how society sees that possibility still. Maybe he didn't want to freak out colonists who are already wary of him?
I could be giving that part too much credit though; probably just more melding of Kaidan/Ashley. \\=

And yeah, the lack of biotics on Horizon-- wut? (I'll chalk this up to not expecting those weird seeker swarms.)

I just think this is shortsightedness and laziness of Bioware. If you are an adept/Vangaurd, they never have biotic cutscenes and stuff either. Infact, some scenes have AR which most classes don't have access too.
In my strong opinion, they should have cutscenes resembling powers but whatever.
I am sure we will find out about his biotic "condition" come ME3. And no, doubt he had been "neutered" of biotic power.
MY QUESTION IS: Did the Doc actually cut up Jack to insert the additions? Who knew she was so rounded in practice /sarcasm ha

Why would they remove his Biotic powers? I never heard him complain about having them (aside from the headaches, but that's from the implants IIRC) and it makes him unique over VS counterpart Ashley. In ME2, they probably just gave him the gun so that it was easier to interchange Kaidan and Ashley for the cutscene.

There was this side quest in ME1, I think. But it was on some ship where this crazy biotic lady was protecting the brain dead body of her lover, "Jacob".
The ship logs said that all the stress, or something, the grief, made her L2 implants act up. Alot. She got real trippy trying to protect this brain dead guy. I think she killed the rest of the crew and set booby traps, etc. She couldn't let him go.
I'm not sayin Kaidan woulda killed anybody like that other crazy chick, but apparently those kinds of emotions seem to affect the...functioning? of the L2 implants.
I wonder if Kaidan tripped out a lil? Maybe on the down low. Maybe only Anderson knew what was going on and was able help him.
Idk. I just remember that side quest when I replayed ME1, and it made me think about what coulda happened.

I don't think I ever did that sidequest, but that's a good point... Plotholes, Bioware! Fill them with non-sensical cement in 3...2...1...
Then again, Kaidan might have gone on a killing spree. TIM did say his file was surprisingly well classified

Maybe the stress allowed his powers to spike up. Or maybe it increased his migraines. But changing brain chemistry? I don't know. Maybe crying and breaking down from stress is the farthest I would go in terms of the L2s causing him to act up, but who hasn't broken down during periods of intense stress?
Or hell, maybe it that mission is foreshadowing. But I hope not.

Overthinking is what humans do best! Night
I really, really, really have the urge to Photoshop Kaidan onto that horse from the Old Spice commercial, and I just don't know why.

Ok how do I get the biotic convo yet? I'm playing a sentinel shep, but I really like the bit about discussing bio ampssomething I guess only two biotics would care about lol

I have.
First time I played.
And another few times on Hardcore mode with an infiltrator.

Which I was shocked. But I was young and naive.
Fist actually really really pissed me off in Omega. Wish I could have had Wrex with me at that point. However, I think I actually did with my Femshep... so he is dead in one. Didn't even have to make the choice

I am now doing my first "hardcore" run through and it is making me appreciate Kaidan's biotics.
And I died way too many times at Chora's Den ... Those two turians were brutal or I am really lousy at the combat.
Yes, I know its the "lousy" choice.

Re: Implant Upgrade
Kaidan said he doesn't want to do it because of the risks of the surgery. Also, from some of his conversations/comments, I suspect he takes some amount of pride in the strength the L2s give him, regardless of the headaches.
Re: Biotic Removal
I've wondered if he's going to have a soldier/infiltrator set in ME3, on account of how much easier it'd be to script between him and Ashley (and there's allegedly drugs, that completely kill off the biotic nodes or something? mentioned in LotSB... which seems ominous).
...and, apparently it's that time again.

I"m about to clock Fist... two sentinels and one soldier is overkill..but I"ll let him live in disgrace on Omega instead of a wannabe crime boss on The Citadel
In ME3... do you think Kaidan is still an L2? You'd think after all this time, he'd at least get an L3 or L4 upgrade?

Posté 26 septembre 2011 - 07:15
Edit: So what I am getting at is Kaidan didn't want to risk the safer versions because there could of been compications/ risks leading to death. Plus he was already more powerful than the L3 or L4 with just headaches as a side affect. So, it really wasn't any contest.
Edit #2: Wouldn't it be interesting tho if ME3 included a quest chain that allowed Kaidan to upgrade to L5 or L6... whatever is the most updated... but had a chance to kill him off or have adverse affects along with beneficial affects. It would be an extreme moral decision. Of course, he would have imput on it too else it would be lame.. and once again, the throwing of the xbox

Actually, if I remember the codex or a character stating that the L2 was infact more powerful that the L3 or L4 version.. but the latter had less risk. I think only the new L5 system could match both the power safely. And that may be a bad assumption to because we have no idea if it adversely affect either Jack or Shep.... but Shep is an outlier on most things so Jack, specifically.

Maybe we have to decide if Kaidan has to get an upgrade in ME3. You know, he's out and something bad happens. The choice becomes new implant or "neuter" him.
And on that note, I'm back to pitchforks and torches.
Good night. I'm sure things will be better in the morning.
Edit.
Crap top. Anyone got that picture with him and the bunny. I'm still not savvy enough to post pics.
