On babynames.com it says that the meaning of Kaden is "fighter".

Edit: upon further research, this meaning assumes that the name derives from the Celtic "Cayden".

(My nephew spells his as Kaiden, and his parents go by the meaning "fighter", so that's why I looked it up.)

If in an alternative universe, Shepard wasn't able to pull Kaidan out of that beacon, and Kaidan saw the vision instead, how do you think the story would pan out? Will it be different from how it is or will it still be the same?

And I'm not just wondering story-wise but also in regards to what possibly could happen in the relationship between Shepard and Alenko as well.

There's a good chance that no one would believe him. They'd just assume he'd flipped on account of the implants.

Between Shepard and Kaidan would depend on the Shepard: if she were feeling charitable, my Shep would have him committed. But she's not on good terms with crazy biotics - chances are good she'd simply try to shoot him.

Anderson might consider it worthwhile, but then again he might not. We're not given an indication of what Anderson's relationship is with Kaidan, and whether it's mentor-like as with Shepard would be a big factor.

I'm so jealous...I wanted to go, but when I went to buy tickets they were all sold out....of everything!!!

I'm so ticked that I didn't order sooner, esp. since Bioware recently posted that they were going to be there w/ a ME3 playable demo....AAHHHH!

A newcomer to ME3 SHOULD be given the choice.
Same for someone who only played ME2 .

I don't know if this comes off as gaming snobbery (it might, I've been called worse things) but ME 1 and 2 aren't really very long campaigns, there's time to catch up for those who want Kaidan as male Shep!! Someone who doesn't have these games now can probably get them much cheaper then we did too...

you will be given a choice >_>  before saying bioware sucks, I would suggest paying a visit to confirmed features thread. one of the earliest things to be confirmed for ME3 was the existance of an intro (could be genesis like comic, or could be interactive story so far video like you get when first playing ME2)  you will be given an oportunity to make major choices, including who your virmire survivor is and whether you romanced anyone in ME1 and/orME2, while people who imported characters will be simply reminded of the choices they made in 2 previous games.

as for people who only played ME2.. well... right now you have 2 options if you don't like default setting.  use gibbed editor to change your save (there used to be a website that would allow you to do same if you play on x-box, but it seems to be down at the moment) - or purchase genesis DLC for PC or x-box.

Ohh and I missed the ComiCon announcement on Twitter. ComicCon it is then. Very happy, mean 1 month less till new ME3 goodies pour in! Hopefully new Kaidan info/media

Kaidan will return as a squad member in Mass Effect 3, provided he survived the events on Virmire in Mass Effect. If he did not, Ashley Williams will take his place in the squad. 

So i asked .

Don't worry. ME3 will have interactive comic or a video to make all the necessary choices from the previous games so you will be easily able to save Kaidan. And yes, if Kaidan's dead in your imported save, that means Ashley's in because on Virmire it was the choice between them two, whoever got killed the other one replaced him by default

Xassantex - sorry, I'm not in a best of moods right now (unrelated to gaming and fandoms), so my post was a bit harsh.  I just connected that sucks and booo, bioware.

according to the post - intro to ME3 will be similar to Genesis and in Genesis you could pick out your virmire survivor, unlike ME2 where by default you got the opposite sex one. So Kaidan will most definitely make it into ME3, as long as you select him as your survivor when prompted.

they might have as well written that post as "Ashley will return as a squad member in Mass Effect 3, provided she survived the events on Virmire in Mass Effect. If she did not, Kaidan Alenko will take her place in the squad. " and it would have been the same thing basicaly
