Never was a fan of "I could never leave you..." because, as it looks for me, Shepard tells that Kaidan was saved because of Commander's feelings only. Hence:rapscallioness wrote...
I think they are going to let Shepard have the option to show some tenderness.
It's so funny because I remember the scene in ME1 after Virmire. That was a very tender scene, the way I dialogued anyway. The part about "I could never leave you....".
It's so funny because I remember the first time I played this part, and I was all into the convo. The game had this nice tight camera angle going on....
Then outta nowhere I hear Liara, "Uh, I hate to interrupt."
I was like, "Oh, Snap!" The camera pans out and it's a room full of ppl. I felt so busted. Lol.
a) Shepard is an incompetent leader who can't leave personal feelings aside - what does it mean, "never leave you"? Even if it means failing a mission? Failing a mission to stop Reapers? Will Kaidan be happy to be saved at such high cost?
c) Shepard has plenty of other, legitimate reasons to save Kaidan - say, because he's biotic, because he's higher ranked officer, - but suddenly Commander sees in him just an object for love?
So I usually go with "blame Saren!"... Sometimes I'm mad at myself for trying to rationalise everything:crying:

Eh. I always choose the "I could never leave you" option. I see it as Shep's admission of guilt. Had she not been into Kaidan, she still would have saved him for tactical reasons, but because he also makes her feel like a human being rather than some superhuman, she slips up and confesses to him. She's saying he shouldn't feel guilty, it was her decision. She's the commander, she shoulders the burden. I like it. Shep is pretty badass, but she still makes the occasional mistake.
I like how you look at that. I always choose the same option, but it makes me cringe that everyone else is there. I feel guilty still, since I liked Ashley a lot too but chose Kaidan for romance reasons.

But, yeah, it was quite the confession. Then the whole Kaidan line about , "She died for us...." Aaaahhhh! Please, I feel guilty enough already.
I do think it was a better tactical move to save Kaidan...but I confess, even if it hadn't been, I still woulda saved Kaidan. I'm sorry. I'm not saying it's right. I'm not saying it's fair; or honorable. And there is no justification for it. I'm just telling you the truth. If I have to pick between the one I love and...this chick I like alright, but...I'm gonna pick the one I love.
I'm not leaving my Boo there to get nuked. It's not happening. .
At the same time, I don't want to see Kaidan get nuked just Because we're romantically involved and Shepard is having a moral dilemma about it.
As far as the scene goes, yeah cringed, too. I thought it was a fairly clever way of helping the player to feel that...wrapped up in someone else emotion. I like to think that the others weren't there at first. They streamed into the debriefing a few moments ago, but Shepard, nor Kaidan noticed them because they were so wrapped up in that moment.
That stuff happens, tho. When 2 ppl are so into each other, the rest of the world has a way of completely disappearing. So, I thought it was a clever way of giving their relationship that lil vibe.
And I think Kaidan still says the same stuff..in front of everyone..."She died for us.". No matter what dialogue you take...I think.

Mmm, my Shep would definitely won't be opposed to marriage. As for kids, she'd probably want to be a better mom to them and to never abandon them like she was.(Earth-born origins, I wrote a fic about her background about how she was just dropped off at a library with just her last name.)
I could see my Shep and Kaidan marrying, but the kids would have to wait. everything would be so upside down for awhile. I just couldn't see it, yet.
My Shep was earth born no parents, too. Ran in a gang in the streets. So, I don't think she'd want to actually raise her kids on earth. I hadn't thought about it before, but I think my Shep feels more at home in space than on earth. So, those kids might end up being spacer kids. With the occasional visit back to Kaidan's parents place in ..seattlevancouver. If it's still there. Otherwise, we'd have to rebuild it.

I found it interesting in ME2 that she made the comment to Parasini about it must be nice doing a job you love, and also to Grunt about not planning on doing this forever, so I can see Shep semi retiring in the not too distant future. Let someone else take over saving the galaxy, lol. Although my Sheps are all biotics so Shep & Kaidan are both going to need good jobs in order to be able to afford the grocery bill, lol
They got married in one of my fics, on the Normandy, but of course it was in a randomly stupid way, lol. I'm sure Hannah will put the pressure on about grandkids though, lmao.

I could see Kaidan talking to Shepard about it being time to retire from all this. And Shepard agreeing.
I can see Kaidan saying, "Why does it always have to be you? Why are you always the one risking your life to save this ungrateful galaxy?" But then he and Shepard know the answer. Because no one else is stepping up. Shepard didn't choose this, it chose her.
Lol, as soon as the Alliance saw that someone had just used the omega 4 and were saying wtf?, Kaidan knew..."OMG, it's friggin' Shepard. Of course. I know it."
That's why he's got that lil tuft of hair on top now instead of the slicked back locks he had. He's been pulling his hair out over Shepard's escapades.

I also want to finally hook her up with Kaidan if possible too. ME2 gave me the impression that would be possible this game.

For kids, i imagine Shepard would want to adopt, think about all the orphans in the world, especially after the reaper invasion? And also especially if she was Earthborn. I think she might adopt 1 kid.
And you guys roleplay on this forum? If you guys ever need a partner for a kaidan/shep roleplay i'm up for either role =D

I really, Really REALLY (did I mention really?) hope that Shepard has some sort of happy ending at the close of ME3. This 'sacrifice for the good of the entire galaxy' is all well and good but it would make me a most unhappy camper if it comes at the cost of Shepard's life. Dammit, he (or she) has already saved everyone's bacon twice and looks to do so again for the final chapter. Is it too much to ask for him/her to settle down with their love interest after all is done and pass the mantle of responsibility to someone else?
I say let Vega become the new poster boy for the Alliance, lol. My Shepard and Kaidan will be holed up somewhere away from everyone for quite a while. She was dead for two years - thats a lot of catching up they have to do

(you know I really liked having a personal assistant. More than I thought I ever would. When I got the crew killed on first ME2 playthru, I kept forgetting to check my msgs. Just like I love being...well, kinda being--the Shadow Broker. More than I ever thought I would. Possibly more than I feel comfortable admitting :/)
I'm a Sucker for Happy Endings! I cry and laugh and woot! I love a happy ending.

Oh, God @Case. Just...Oh, God. We were skipping along, then POWIE! right to the kisser.

I really want there to be a scene in ME3 where your LI/Kaidan meets Hannah (for a Spacer background). I think it could turn out to be an awkward scene, cute scene, or both. And it'd be fun to meet Kaidan's parents, as well. This is assuming that everyone lives through the Reaper invasion, though.
So, I have a (slightly off topic, I suppose) question. How come Kaidan was sent off to Jump Zero (Is that the name?) but a Biotic Shep wasn't? And does Biotic Shep get any other notices for being a Biotic by Kaidan or anything?

Funny you mention the second option! I was talking with a dear friend of mine about our Kaidan obsession (it's one of the things we've bonded over) and I expressed to her my personal interpretation of how I'd love the "marriage talk" to happen in my game.Clara Shepard wrote...
On the marriage subject, I could see Kaidan out of nowhere asking Shepard if she would marry him, but not forcing the idea on her. Or maybe Shepard asking him at a really crucial part of the game giving it more suspense because he can't give her an answer at the moment.
(Shepard and Kaidan stand in front of the final fight side by side, staring at it.)
Shepard: Kaidan?
Kaidan: Hmm?
Shepard: You planning on making it through this?
Kaidan: If you are.
Shepard: Okay. Don't die before you can make me a widow.
Kadian: ....
Shepard: I'll take that as a yes. (She charges into battle after grinning.)
Garrus: ...I think you just got engaged.

So, Kaidan's main weapon in ME1 is supposed to be the pistol, right? Last time I played, I gave him one of every gun, even though I expected he'd only use the pistol. But no, instead, he chose to alternate between the assault rifle and shotgun. Was that supposed to happen?

I imagine that would be pretty annoying to never have your class recognized. I always play as a Soldier (boring, I know, but I prefer to play the tank of the group) so I never notice cutscene differences (or lack thereof).

It's likely to be an oversight.
I doubt Kaidan will be using a pistol as his main weapon in ME3, though.

Looks like Kaidan might be going shotgun in ME3 if his picture means anything.
