I've published the first two chapters of an expansion of my one-shot If It Meant Living. You can find them here: From the Beginning.  Everything is also on my DA page.

The first two chapters are the Colonist/War Hero background; after that it will reach the start of ME1.  The first nine chapters, plus a few scattered ones, are already written; I am really, really enjoying doing it .

The story is definitely Shenko, but that isn't the focus of it; I'm afraid I'm just not comfortable as a romance writer, lol.  That being said, when I finally get to Horizon, there will be no way around much gnashing of teeth and tearing of hair :crying:.

Overlord is rather Vanguard - friendly. The most spectacular "Vanguard ran out of thermal clips" was at final boss - "Oh, I'm low on clips so next battle will be mostly melee!" - "Errm..."

Aha! Remembered when I used to equip Kaidan with shotgun - Feros. Shotgun + whatever ammo adds physical impact (Hammerhead rounds?), so no Thorian Creepers will approach to my fragile Sentinel on... acid launching distance.

I tend to melee the Thorian Creepers and then shoot them on the ground, of course you have to walk back and forth, because of how melee was handled in ME1
also, I tend to rush to my squaddies rescue when I see a creepers is abouter to vomit on one o_O

Yeah... Final boss battle took me, like, 4 hours. :crying: But I did it! :D

I also try to rescue, but there was, as I recall, one nice ladder where, after Shepard and co passed, creepers are attacking from both sides. If not Hammerhead rounds, all my squad would become green and smelly after that.

Good ol' "throw creeper in the abyss" is still the best way:)

What it says about my canon Shepard that I used to equip Inferno rounds or High Explosive rounds?

And Squad Warp ammo for squad while Inferno ammo for Shepard in ME2.

Ah, thing I wanted to ask long ago but remembered only now in connection with ammo powers: you might see that both Liara and Garrus have powers with limited number of uses - Lift Orb and Proximity Mine, correspondingly. What do you think, will all squadmates have similar powers - so Kaidan will have some kind of grenade; or it will be as ME2 and ammo powers of squadmates, where only some of them had such, so Kaidan as Sentinel likely won't get one?

@Case If you can equip it in ME2, you are trained in it. I never really have a problem running out of thermal clips, except maybe on Insanity when you have to really fill an enemy full of lead to topple them. The pistol and the SMG (which the Sentinel is trained in) have different effects on enemies depending on whether they're shielded, have a barrier, or armor. SMG may take an entire clip to whittle down armor while the pistol can tear it up in just a few shots. Of course, at higher levels, gun choice doesn't matter too much, but it still can make a difference when you're low on clips. :) It's fun to be tactical. Switching between weapons was the only way my Vanguard made it through Overlord on Insanity.

Ohh. Well, in ME1 Sentinels could equip other weapons they were untrained in, but damage and accuracy were poor. And besides my pistol, aiming was so poor that I just assumed I was untrained. And not just my own aiming either! haha I play on my laptop with a touchpad, so I tend to waste a lot of bullets.
I just don't like weapons except for pistols and the collector particle beam. I used warp and reave on enemy shields always.

I play as a Soldier who only uses the pistol and rarely an assault rifle or sniper rifle... I think I'm doing it wrong :P

Infiltrator as well. To mechs and geth, nothing says "I love you" more than advanced AI Hacking and a sniper shot between their ocular sensor(s). :)

I play vanguard mainly. In ME1 I only used a pistol. A shotgunless vanguard? The scandal! ;) For husks and Thorian creepers Kaidan and Shep would keep them at bay by spamming lift and throw.
In ME2 I fell in love with the Eviscerator so when dealing with husks I'd take Miranda and Thane for warp and throw and I'd use reave and shockwave. If they managed to get too close I'd use my shotgun and squad cryo ammo to finish them off.

I like playing an Engineer, and I prefer using pistols and tech powers.

Hooray for the least played class in ME2! :wizard:

I usualy play as an adept, although I do have a couple of sentinels - favourite weapons - assault rifle and rocket launcher, favourite powers - warp and shockwave (nothing beats husk bowling, lol)

I love being an infiltrator but I'm willing to try out other classes XD Was thinking of trying vanguard since that's popular.

Well, he isn't officially a s/s romance yet, so far it's just speculation. All they've said is that there will be s/s romances but haven't announced who.

Yes, they didn't say anything about who. But our very own Raphael Sbarge let it slip that BioWare told him there will be s/s Kaidan romance. Of course nothing's 100% confirmed till it actually makes to the shipped version in the game and there's microscopic chance Raphael could've been drunk and imagined things, but based on what we know, chances are high Kaidan is bi.

I hope you're right, otherwise Alexander Shepard will go stag for the series. Posted Image

As for weapons and powers:
My femshep vanguard constantly uses her shotgun. I loved Lift, but must admit Charge really made up for so many biotic powers being taken away.

My manshep soldier prefers his assault rifle.

Okay, I've broken my streak. I just read a fanfic.
For the past two years, after becoming addicted to Fanfiction.net, I vowed never to go there again. Ever. Well, that didn't work, and now I've got a craving for some good fanfiction! Can anyone recommend some good Kaidan fics? Anything that's well written - be it happy, sad, funny, etc, just no s/s (I don't have a problem with it, I'd just rather not see/read it, if you know what I mean). And by well written, I mean true to the character. Nothing bugs me more in a fanfic than when the author has the characterization all wrong (unless it's on purpose for AU or comic reasons).

Oh god, don't read mine, lol.  Booty seems to be everyone's favourite though.  Yes, I have a very childish sense of humourPosted Image
