Ooh let's hope not though I suppose someone with a gentle heart might become a doctor. But then he says 'nothing serious' it'd be somewhat serious with Rhana wouldn't it?

I'm starting to wonder now if maybe some of the BAaT crowd might have approved of someone finally standing up to the Turian. I always assumed people acted in the same way as Rhana but that's probably not the case. I like to think of him having a stable group of childhood friends.

German, Italian and Spanish are also very sexy.

For realz?  That's about the first time I heard german accent was appreciated. I always thought it freaked the sh*t outta people.
It does disturb me a little but that's because I'm german I guess and I somehow never had any problems getting rid of my accent. No matter if I'm speaking german, english, french, spanish or japanese (not that I speak all of those languages mind you but I never had much trouble with pronounciation) uh... without wanting to sound too bigheaded :?

I myself have a huge soft spot for british accent I think. Alistairs voice tends to make me swoon = D So does about every voice in DA so yeah  I think canadian is cute too, at least what I hear of  M!Shep and Fem!Shep. though I know that's only a minor accent, apparently. I remember one talk with TIM though where both say "aboot" instead of "about". It sounded cute to my ears = 3

Edit: I think in my headcannon Hendel had a crush on Kaidan. Now where is that epic motivational with Kaidan turning him gay?

For realz......... :D VERY sexy accent imo.... Always liked it  ME needs more Germans, hell, even one German would do for me :P

I just have a generic English accent, nothing interesting about it, it just sounds how people think English people talk :P (but not like the Queen, lol) difficult to explain tbh... but just..... English... non dialect, iyswim? :)

Anyway, not trying to derail... what do you think the education in ME is like? :P And do you think Kaidan was a straight A student?

I always imagine my Colonist Shep going to a public school on Mindoir. And then recieving the rest of her education in an Alliance school. Then after that, perhaps a Univeristy-like school or recieving more training-based education through the Alliance based on her interests and skills. hmmm.
My Shep was a good student, and I would totally say Kaidan was a straight A student! ^_^

I agree, it would have been more serious if the doctor was Rhana. And I don't think Kaidan would have lied to Shepard about that. Or kept the truth from her, whichever way you want to look that it.
I also don't think everyone shunned him.

When I have kids, I am strongly thinking about home-schooling, not due to what I think of the system. (i went to public schools and since I've left I felt as if I learnt more from QI and shows on the TV, and by reading) But social pressure as well. I never had trendy clothes etc and hated it. :pinched: Got bullied etc, but that might have been coming from London to a small town. Was quite a cultural shock.
I think my Shep would let her kid go to school, would be so cute :P Little Kaidan Alenko Junior!

Wellm, there was french LT Girard, so sure, why the hell not? I'd probably flinch everytime he/she opened his/her mouth but I'd probably already like them = D

I'm waiting for the day in DA where we get to the Anderfels or meet someone from there. I bet you they have a german/germanesque accent. If Orlais gets french and Antiva spanish/italian I demand german for the Anderfels! = P

Which makes sense, because apparently she grew up in the south. I didn't find out about that until later.

That's awesome, I thought I was the only one who heard that. I think a southern accent is charming, but I'm biased since I have one. My mom is German, and when she went to visit her family after 25 years, they made fun of her southern accent. True story.

I'm like that with the Nottingham accent (I'm from Nottinghamshire) I hate it, but I don't think you have any reason to flinch :P And I agree, German accents are woefully missing in DA and ME........... Ok this is so off topic but I had to post this here. Remember when your in the Derlic Reaper ship and you come to the dragon teeth alter. This shows legion walking around up above in this video. Now I'm going to be looking for Legion when I get there. He is very still for the first few seconds and then he moves. I know off topic sorry!!

I've seen that video with Legion, haha.

You people from England are lucky! I visited there 6 years ago, and if I could, I'd go back and live there. Great food, tourist activities, sexy accents, and everyone's so nice on top of that!

Edit: 'Nother Poll. Looks like Kaidan's evil twin is back.
Edit again: Another Poll. Choosing between Alistair and Kaidan a cruel form of punishment, though.

Oh guys! Public school doesn't necessarily suck! I never meant to imply that. :P I am a big believer in using all the tools at your disposal, so my children have been homeschooled at times, and also spent time in public and magnet schools (magnet schools that focused on both academics and the arts).

I think there are positives and negatives to both homeschool and public school, so when I homeschool my kids I try to fill in the gaps for what they weren't taught in PS. Likewise, the public setting has many experiences and programs I can't offer at home. Furthermore, some children aren't very good at self-motivating, and you need that in the home setting, so those kids are better off in PS. Each child is an individual and needs an educational plan best tailored to their personality and the way they learn. This isn't an option for many people for numerous reasons, so I'm grateful I've been able to make the mix and match plan work for my children thus far.

I try to allow my kids a choice each school year as to where they would like to learn, so this year, I have one child at the public high school, and two of my children at our local elementary school, while both my middle school aged children chose to study at home, as well as my 11th grade son. So three kids in PS and three kids homeschooled while the two-year-old runs around creating chaos. Insanity is my status quo.

I was homeschooled from the 4th grade on because I spent many hours a day at the ballet studio or traveling to other cities to take dance classes etc., so I think I have a unique perspective in that I felt there were some things I missed out on that I would have liked to have had the benefit of, but also things I was glad to do without.

I also feel education is about more than academics. Last year, my eldest son went on a three week trip to South Africa where he visited small children in aids clinics and played ball with them. He took food to hungry people in townships and learned that though they may live in tiny shacks, those people were proud of what little they had and kept their small dwelling places neat and tidy. He learned compassion and gained a larger world view, which I feel is every bit as valuable as his advanced math courses.

Good grief, sorry for running on there. Shutting up now and apologies for off topic! :D

@Jenova, I always felt we had a lot in common, now I'm convinced of it. ^_^

Seven kids?!

See, if schools around here offered acedemic trips, then maybe it'd be worth it. But some state law passed back in 2001 that we can't leave the state of Washington unless it's for a Sports or Band competition.
Although, to balance that, our school systems have a program called Running Start (which is what I'm in) where you can choose to go to a 2 year College instead of your final two years of high school. The classes you take at college count for both high school and college credits, so that you can potentially graduate high school with an Associate of Arts/Science degree. Best part, the college tuition is free through the program, and transfers directly to a four year University. Meaning that once I graduate and choose to go to a University, I can start there on my third year as a Junior and graduate in 2 years instead of four with a BS or BA.

But this is completely and totally off topic, so pulling it back in (sorta), what do you suppose schools are like in the ME universe? For humans and other aliens?

Which is funny, since Meghan Shepard's from Houston, Texas (as am I), and when she's upset or emotional, her accent slips.

Good to know I wasn't hearing things when I thought that up.

I won't be surprised if school education in ME universe takes more years than in modern world - the longer human lifespan is, the more time is spent on education. Hm, I can imagine how biology classes (and teachers) freaked when first aliens were found.

About Earthborn Shep's education: I've always thought that s/he got all education gang mates could give plus whatever during military training. This would inevitably lead to fragmented knowledge. For example, my Sentinel was initially trained to pick locks, disable alarm and do first aid, then taught to read for further self education and now she's good at anatomy and tech aspects, but "Shakespeare who?"

And, finally, about BAaT: I don't think Kaidan kept contact with another children, and here's why. Teenagers tend to overreact, and such big event as murder of a teacher likely led to two camps: Rahna - like (he's a monster not better than Vyrnnus) and Conrad Verner - like (he's a hero who saved us all! Now I want to use my biotics to protect innocents through killing off bad guys). Former freaked out themselves and latter, considering that Kaidan restrained himself from fully using biotics for a long time later, freaked Kaidan away.

Oh no, not "finally" - one more thing: I'm 21 today :)

Oh, trust me, I've heard the entire range of reactions. This is what I usually hear.

Randon person: "You have seven kids? Haven't you figured out what causes that yet?"
Me: "Yes. Why do you think I have so many?"
Randon person: "........"  *blushes and runs away*
Me:

From a social/political/practical side: Having a brood of children is my back-up retirement plan for when social security implodes. My children inform me that when I am a senior citizen, they will finance my overseas trips! Win! :o

Seriously though, it wasn't planned, I just love babies and my hubby. The growth happened naturally and works well for our family.

I have numerous older babysitters and helpers now. It was actually much harder in the years when I only had young ones. It does get easier. I serve in more of a managerial capacity now.

Back on topic:
I don't really see Kaidan staying in touch with people from BAaT. I got the sense that it was a part of a life he had put behind him. I was always curious to know what he did between the time he left BAaT and when he joined the Alliance. How did he heal and deal with what happened?

A couple of Kaidans to brighten the day:

@Bekkael: oh, thanks :)

On topic: I've always thought Kaidan was more rebel that days. As young spirit outcasted from society, angsty angst and all. Then he matured, enlisted and now judges that it's better to be level headed from the point where he actually experienced both ways. "I tried both and I actually know what is better" instead of "I act in the only way I've ever tried".

I always thought Kaidan was the quieter good kid that people generally liked

But I doubt he kept in much contact with anyone after BAaT. Maybe initially, but stopped contact years ago. I see it as something that has obviously affected him and shaped part of his life, but put it behind him.
I wouldn't mind if Rahna popped up again but I wouldn't see the point in it.
